Freakin' whiner. Hire a lighter-weight man to drive for your team then.

Wow, what a sandy vagina. I knew NASCAR was like this

He's just flirting with her.

Also, yay for first link approved.

Danica will hit the wall before halfway tomorrow......it's all about the experience.

/give her a couple more years

Smookyfufu: I knew NASCAR was like this

Got nothing to do with NASCAR. Robbie Gordon, despite fielding a team and driving in NASCAR, is really an open wheel racer. He'll never be more than a mediocre stock car driver.

And while I consider Robbie Gordon to be a whiny prat, the point he's making is valid. In an indy car, that 100lbs can make a difference.

Norb: Danica will hit the wall before halfway tomorrow......it's all about the experience.

At Indy, especially.

The article says she may gain a single mile-per-hour advantage.

Drivers and teams tweak their cars within regulation to get every last possible speed boost out of it. I say Congrats to the team who hired a woman to give their car even more of a performance boost.

No, they put Danica Patrick in the seat because she's a talented and qualified racer.

2005-05-28 07:21:59 PM
Get over it you whiner!!! Never heard Jimmy Spencer whine about the advantage that every other driver had over him.

2005-05-28 07:22:10 PM
In F1, they weigh the car and driver together. Then people biatch that the big guys have an advantage because they can handle the Gs better. Schumacher is no 98-lb weakling.

But I've got no sympathy for Gordon. If a hundred-pound woman (probably more like 92 when the race is over) can hack 500 miles of Gs and steering the thing in a hot cockpit wearing Nomex long johns and manages to beat him--well, she paid the same entry fee and raced by the same rules.

No shiat. Shave some fat off that ass Jeff, or just remove the obviously unnecessary testicle weight.

2005-05-28 07:23:32 PM
I hope she drives circles around their whiny butts.

2005-05-28 07:24:17 PM
Sounds like Gordon is the pussy here.

2005-05-28 07:25:14 PM
I'd say the only unfair advantage she has is making the other drivers uncomfortable by giving them throbbing boners:

/not a racing fan
//would still hit it

2005-05-28 07:25:38 PM
Shave some fat off that ass Jeff, or

err.. umm... Gordon whomever.

I dont follow nascar, but I can smell whiny when I see it.

She recovered from a bobble that could have easily put a less talented driver into the wall, and then remained calm enough to tick off three laps faster than the pole winning speed.

If she beats you Robbie, that is why it happened.

2005-05-28 07:29:20 PM
Aww, boo-hoo. That's why jockeys are so small. Less weight = faster speeds. It's just good strategy, not cheating. If Gordon wants to stay competitive, he needs to get his ass on the treadmill.

2005-05-28 07:29:33 PM
Oh come on, what is it, like maybe a forty pound weight difference? Looks like someone can't stand being beaten by a guuuuurl

2005-05-28 07:32:18 PM
I guess this means Shaq has an unfair advantage for being huge.

2005-05-28 07:34:04 PM
She is from my hometown. On that basis I hope she wins. And she is hot.

According to the article, she's 105 (which I find hard to believe), and he is a "normal" (wtf?) 200 lbs.

2005-05-28 07:38:25 PM
While I think he's a whining biatch, you do have to look at it from the opposite side: teams would pay tens of thousands of dollars, more even, if they could reduce the weight of the car 100 lbs. It may not sound like much but they are all engineered basically at tolerance, and less weight = more power, simple as that.

On the other hand, fark him. If she can outdrive him with her super small advantage, more power to her.

2005-05-28 07:38:42 PM
Considering how much I like the IRL, I'll go for Patrick for the win.

2005-05-28 07:39:45 PM
Unless I'm mistaken the rules state a minimum weight for the car with driver. I guess he's whining because with a light driver she can take a larger thermos of coffee with her.

Or something.

2005-05-28 07:40:21 PM
He's just afraid his friends will like the new girl more than him.

pandabear:

Yeah, that was my thought too.

She might have an advantage in weight, but had a disadvantage in strength. The point has been made before that driving those cars isn't easy, and requires signifigant arm strength and endurance.

2005-05-28 07:48:15 PM
doctechnical

You are mistaken. From TFA:

The IndyCar Series does not consider the weight of the driver in its race specifications. The car has to weigh at least 1,525 pounds before the fuel and driver are added

2005-05-28 07:52:38 PM
doctechnical: You may be thinking of NASCAR, where they are forced to add weight to bring it up to the minumum 3,400 pounds, based on the driver's weight. If the driver is less than 200 lbs, they pretty much have to.

2005-05-28 07:53:48 PM
I should specify Cup, not NASCAR in general of course.

2005-05-28 07:58:15 PM
While I think he's a whining biatch, you do have to look at it from the opposite side: teams would pay tens of thousands of dollars, more even, if they could reduce the weight of the car 100 lbs.

Then they should spend a few hundred bucks and buy their drivers a treadmill... Or look for smaller drivers. The horse racing people figured this out a long time ago...

Also, what's wrong with her being able to go faster? Isn't that what NASCAR is about? -- And if so, why weren't women introduced to the sport years ago?

2005-05-28 08:36:06 PM
Shiftless: This isn't NASCAR. But as a disgruntled NASCAR fan I can say that no, it's not about going faster.

Well, since all of the male drivers weight *exactly the same*, he does have a very good point.

//Huh?
///Clearly just misogynist crap.

On that note, why couldn't she file a complaint that some of the men had more muscular forearms than she did, and that that allowed them to better steer the wheel under high-pressure conditions?

2005-05-28 09:53:13 PM
Dude.....STFU.
Your a fatass retarded race car driver and you think your macho cuz you drive a car on a track.
Obv. not a macho sport cuz A FRIGGIN WOMAN CAN DO IT.

2005-05-28 09:53:20 PM
Still, it's a good idea to enforce a weight norm to make sure it's fair. He's not being sexist.

2005-05-28 09:53:39 PM
For the last 4 or 5 years, the ONLY reason I bothered to watch the Indy 500 was to see the chick drivers crash.

One year that one chick driver crashed into the only other chick driver. Classic!

2005-05-28 09:53:47 PM
I suppose if he wanted it to be more equal the race sponsors could specify to enter that all drivers have to weigh within 20 pounds of the lowest weight. If you can't get off your ass and exercise too bad. Or you could be bulemic. Look how much good it did for Schiavo.

No, it would take the best golfer to be black, an extremely successful white rapper, an very tall asian basketball player, and the governor of an entire state would have to be an actor from "Jingle All the Way".

Rainbowtyedye:

Never heard Jimmy Spencer whine about the advantage that every other driver had over him.

He was probably worried that someone would call him on the unfair advantage he has by having like 8342 cousins named "Ed" and access to all the tires that they steal.

/knows nothing about NASCAR but grew up near where Jimmy Spencer grew up

Looks like he needs a shoulder to cry on

If she does well tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if other racing teams start recruiting horse racing jockeys as drivers.
