Gotta fire up Kazaa and look for the "I had sex with Pacman" song.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. It's a damn game, get out of the house and do something with your life!

2002-04-04 06:51:17 PM
What an idiot. Someone already HAS played a perfect game of PacMan. This guy was striving for an already-achieved goal.

2002-04-04 06:51:28 PM
Jesus lives!

2002-04-04 06:51:36 PM
He didn't go hungry, think of all the fruit and stuff he ate in the 99 levels he went through! And the pills!

Did the mullet grow while he was playing all that time or was he always a business in the front party in the back type of guy?

2002-04-04 06:53:33 PM

"Its like Neil Armstrong walking on the moon."

Actually, it's nothing like that. Walking on the moon was cool, you just proved you are a loser.

2002-04-04 06:56:24 PM
Wow, it was even more amazing when it happenend in 1999. Sheesh so now fark has false headlines and recycled news.

Mojo my helper monkey could be picking better stories, ive seen totalfark, they aint all crap.

2002-04-04 06:56:37 PM
HERO!!!

2002-04-04 06:56:49 PM
Dear god. This is absolutely horrifying. This outclasses every other video gaming triumph for sheer ridiculousness.

And I thought beating the hidden Juggernaut Jelly on level 99 of the Ancient Cave in Lufia 2 was bad...

2002-04-04 06:56:55 PM
Bluenovaman - that's no hippie cut - that's a mullet.

2002-04-04 06:57:01 PM

2002-04-04 06:58:10 PM
People either love or hate this guy. Count me in the "hero" camp.

2002-04-04 06:58:16 PM

How do I get to be this cool? Maybe I should write to this guy and ask him how to be cool. That would be cool.

2002-04-04 07:05:51 PM
Ten years from now, Midaway (or whoever made Pac Man) will be looking for him to award him a medal. Unfortunately, they will discover he died falling from the roof of his house trying to rescue his cat (a la Asteroids guy)

2002-04-04 07:05:58 PM
old article. man, i was confused when they were talking about it like it was current. i thought i went into a coma here at my computer, which kinda made me sad when i thought that for that to work no one would have noticed that i was out for like three months

2002-04-04 07:06:01 PM
sos: nice profile

Ive learned all ive needed to learn in life from the simpsons.

No, Seriously, its actually kinda scary.

2002-04-04 07:07:50 PM
Well Drew, how long do you think it will take before they fall for it?

Soon after, he was tapped to be second string in the ko-dan empire second match.

Playing video games all the time and being average....Lame.
Playing video games all the time and setting world records that couldn't be attained by others in nearly 10 billion plays....Awesome.

Check the story for the 10 billion reference.

2002-04-04 07:08:41 PM
OK, I read the article twice and can't figure out why he didn't eat for two days if it only took him six hours to beat the game.

2002-04-04 07:09:21 PM

I'm a winner....

2002-04-04 07:10:27 PM
mutt: He promised "himself" he wouldn't eat until he beat the record.

Yah i don't get it either.

2002-04-04 07:10:27 PM
Where was it mentioned he went hungry for 2 days? Or did I just miss that part? It looked like he played for 6 hours.

I know! I'll link to the "Perfect Pitfall" game article that's also many many months old!

And the best way to figure out who will call this guy a hero... if you know what "up up down down left right left right B A Start" means.

1990 Kentucky State Champion of the Nintendo Tournament sponsored by (the now defunct) Roadrunner Video Stores.
Seriously.
Now stop laughing.

2002-04-04 07:11:15 PM
Why is it that the first thing I thought was, "Gee, I bet this guy doesn't get laid a whole lot."

2002-04-04 07:11:25 PM
I always used "up up down down left right left right B A Select - Start" Me and my bro could beat the game in about an hour.

2002-04-04 07:14:13 PM
He got advice from the MS PAC MAN champion?
Haw haw haw!

2002-04-04 07:16:12 PM
"This is, possibly, the most difficult feat to accomplish in the world of video game playing."

HA! show me someone who can finish Daikatana in one sitting without falling asleep, then i'll be impressed.

2002-04-04 07:17:13 PM
i agree with gaanja
The way to tell the people who had friends growing up is to see which version of the Contra Code they give:

up up....B-A-Select-Start: Not a Huge Dork, just dork
up up....B-A-Start: Huge Dork/wheaton fan #1

2002-04-04 07:18:07 PM
And you just know that some 12 year old walked up at about the 30K mark, put down his quarter and spent the next five hours and 55 minutes giving him advice.

2002-04-04 07:22:21 PM
Call me a goof, but I applaud the fellow for his accomplishment.

And hey, he has an internationally distributed product (his hot sauce), so obviously he has a life.

Lighten up, folks.

2002-04-04 07:24:47 PM
I thought I knew a kid that did it twice in an corner store near where I grew up. Sounds doubtful to me now.

2002-04-04 07:26:14 PM
I was also confused about the "going hungry for two days" and "six hour game" part. My guess is that the perfect game only took him six hours, but he played a number of less-than-perfect games over a period of two days before he got to the perfect game. Makes sense.

Either way he is still a loser.

2002-04-04 07:33:22 PM
Timothy:

Hold up.

Did you see the web site? His hot sauces' slogan is

"Variety, Value and Quality = Rickey`s"

If he was really cool, like you say he is, he'd have come up with a slogan that didn't employ the equal sign.

2002-04-04 07:35:48 PM
Uh oh, he wore an American flag tie, and was proud to be an American? Don't tell Yellow Times.org or they will brand him as a child murderering, tree cutting, poor exploiting, sexist (he played Pac MAN, not Miss Pacman)capitalist pig. I think the dude who iced himself after playing everquest is much funnier.

Anyone else think Miss Pacman was just regular Packman in Drag?

The hot sauce mentioned in the article is quite tasty.

Hey! It's the "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh. They really tortured him, making him play Pac-Man.

Maybe I'm a major geek for thinking this...but that's totally cool!

"I had to be first," ******* explains. "Its like Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. No matter how many people accomplish the feat afterwards, it will always be Armstrong who will be remembered for doing it first. And, best of all, it was an American"

OK....you JUST read the story. What was the guy's name?

CrazyHighGuy
Neil Armstrong he is not.......
