It's OK.

Road hogs are a threat.

Shoot them.

2005-05-21 02:30:27 PM
I actually agree with a Bush... there is a first for everything.

Anyways, this has nothing to do with road rage and everything to do with speeders wanting to speed. It would just reward the speeders by making those who want to drive the speed limit move to the slow lane.

2005-05-21 02:38:52 PM
Big Merl

you have a 'slow lane'?

where i come from, there is a 'passing lane'.

people in it that aren't passing are in the wrong lane.

He also said there's no proof of a problem that would require such a law.

He'd see the proof if he'd just pull his head out of his ass the next time he gets on a highway. You should only be in the left lane to pass or if a left exit is coming up. If neither scenario applies, and you're just driving in the passing lane to be a selfish douchebag, you should be shot, no questions asked.

I'm doin' a hundred on the highway,
So if you do the speed limit, get the FARK outta my way

Have any of the experts in here actually lived in Fl, and experienced the traffic problems here ? Or were you all just drawn by the name, Bush, and only think you know everything ?
Let's start with the submitter. How exactly does this effect you ?

hahah! you think he drives on the highways?! hahah...

Tallahassee is about 2 hours from anything. I'll be he hops on a private jet and zips around the state.

There's got to be a joke in there about Jeb Bush and Hogs....

I'd have Road Rage if Jeb Bush were my Governor....

It doesn't, I'm not the submitter, and this is fark, you think an actual serious discussion will take place?

Think again...

ooooooo. biatch fight.

2005-05-21 03:48:06 PM
How did they plan on enforcing this law? Were the police going to pull over the person that wasn't getting over while doing the speed limit? You better think again.

2005-05-21 03:49:27 PM
I live in florida and am a bush supporter. But what the fark was he thinking vetoing this?!

2005-05-21 03:49:54 PM
I've said it before and I'll say it again. 99% of the people I know in favor of laws like these are the very same ones that drive in the left lane. They do, however, feel that because they drive 30-over that they alone should be allowed to do so.

So yeah. If you drive in the left lane, you're an asshole. But that's not an excuse to make another goddamned law!

2005-05-21 03:50:57 PM
Ever driven in Ohio? Definate need for a law like this there. It is more dangerous if people driving faster are trying to pass on the right, than if these slow idiots would drive in the right lane to start with!

2005-05-21 03:51:23 PM
"I couldn't get over the fact that this bill would punish law abiding citizens that were going below the speed limit within the law," Bush said. "They would be penalized at the expense of someone who was going above the speed limit."

OK, Dumbass Jeb. Suppose two people are driving side-by-side at 55 mph in a 65 zone. And I just want to drive 65. What then, you asshat?

Jeb is a farktard just like his brother and his dad.

2005-05-21 03:51:50 PM
What are they talking about the left lane being the passing lane? Around here, on the west coast of FL, the left lane is the slow lane and the right is the passing lane. I think the best example of this is the Howard Franklin bridge.
I typically drive about 10 mph over the speed limit. i don't think that's too fast, but for some reason I always have to change to the right lane to pass some freak going 10 mph under the limit.

2005-05-21 03:51:59 PM
Move biatch, get out the way
Get out the way biatch, get out the way
Move biatch, get out the way
Get out the way biatch, get out the way

/That's LUDACRIS!!

2005-05-21 03:53:52 PM
What's wrong with this bill? I think it's a great idea. It should be law that the right lane is for travelling, the left lane is for passing. I hate douchebags that travel in the left lane, and are going the speed limit, or just above it. I see too many times, somebody going 70 in the right lane, and another person in the left lane going the same speed; blocking people from passing. Asshats need to learn to drive, and stay out of the way of people in a hurry to get nowhere.

2005-05-21 03:55:25 PM
How about the signs they have in Washington State-the far left lane is for passing only (not sitting on doing 55 or less 'cuz ya don't like cars in front of you...)

or this one which never seems to be used by either trucks, RV's or old people-SLOW MOVING VEHICLES MUST USE TURN OUT LANE

Not to mention the old farts/Mini-van folk who think they are supposed to be the cops....

Can we say HANG UP AND DRIVE!

2005-05-21 03:56:41 PM
Whoa. That thought was incomplete, an unintelligible. I meant to say old people that all the cuban immigrants... people who don't pay taxes who drive on the highways should NOT be punished for driving the speed limit and driving safely.

Another Bush, another veto.

Long live democracy.

Gently slowing down when somebody's tailgating is fun for the whole family. Your logs are too tiny to be the fastest on the highway anyway.

I have lived there, and lived in the Northeast and in the Pacific NW. Florida's traffic is substantially lighter than any of the other areas where I've lived, and I saw a lot less aggressive driving when I was down there than in any other area where I've lived.

Gov Bush is right: Just because you want to speed doesn't mean that people obeying the law should get out of your way.

2005-05-21 04:03:25 PM
Bush said the bill addressed a perception rather than an established reality.

i think he got his traffic notes mixed up with his brother's WMD notes...

Just going by yesterday's rumours in the UK newspapers regarding stem cell research - you know, those that were saying "Bush set to veto...."

Where is the passing lane? I can never find it. I wamt to disagree with the guy, but I can't. He makes too much sense on this one.

/crazy talk

Yep. MC G-Dub has never vetoed a law during his presidency. Why would he?

He's just being a politician and trying to keep the blue hair vote.

2005-05-21 04:07:19 PM
This bill was just another opportunity for the police to raise revenue through the writing of tickets. Since the state is overtaxing the populace by running a $2 billion surplus, some of that money that is not returned should be spent on a KEEP RIGHT campaign to keep the snowbirds and Q-Tips out of the left lane.

2005-05-21 04:09:43 PM
people who complain about "left lane bandits", or whatever it is that you call them in your neck of the woods-- these whiners are real real.. real lame..

You say it's not a driving lane--it's a passing lane. Well, whatever you want to call it, it certainly isn't a Speeding Lane.

* If you are driving several miles/km below the speed limit, yes, you should stay driving in the right hand lane if possible, unless for instance.. you come along somebody driving even slower than you.

BUT

* But if you're driving the speed limit, or even over the limit, you should drive in whatever freakin lane you please. (that is to say, my tax dollars paid for both the right and left lanes) If i'm driving the speed limit, I have every right to drive where I like. Sorry if I'm in your way, but, guy, stop breaking the law.

BUT

* If you see someone coming up behind you that is going faster than you are, and you are able to get back in to the right hand lane, that is the courteous and proper thing to do. You should do it. But if there are too many cars in the right hand lane to do so, you are under no obligation to force yourself in. If you're driving the speed limit, the impatient idiot behind you can WAIT until his opportunity to pass arrives.

***** Finally. Driving constantly in the left hand lane may be all about respect, or rather, a lack of respect for other drivers... but the @@@hole who feels the need to scream by you at 100 miles an hour... His problem is more than a lack of respect. He's dangerous and he's probably going to kill somebody some day.

As if the 4 minutes he saves driving that way actually does him any good. The speed limit is a law, not a tax for those who can afford it and not care about the consequences.

2005-05-21 04:09:45 PM
It's common courtesy to move to the right lane if you're in the left and someone wants to pass.

I live in Western NC, we get a lot of Floridiots up here for the summer. The other day I was heading south to Charlotte was was stuck behind some snowturd in a caddy who wouldn't move over. There were 38 cars stacked up behind him, the right hand lane was mostly semis. Ass had in the caddy sits in the left lane until his exit, then he almost comes to a complete halt to get in the right lane.

SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.

2005-05-21 04:11:42 PM
Thats the way it works in Germany. They reserve the left lane for passing.

2005-05-21 04:13:37 PM
castufari - Chances are that retiree with the Florida tag isn't really from Florida, just another retiree from somewhere else.

Please, keep your grandparents in your home state!!

2005-05-21 04:14:07 PM
traffic problems on I-95 are caused by old people driving too slowly in the left lanes.

/lives in south florida
//hates driving on 95

2005-05-21 04:15:37 PM
To the the Floridians in the thread: Do people generally support both Bushes or neither, or are there people who support just one of the two Bushes?

2005-05-21 04:15:40 PM
I agree w/ Jeb here. It's just a common sense veto. Jeb was already one step ahead, by the way:

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=oddlyEnoughNews&storyID=8315468

2005-05-21 04:15:56 PM
Jeb's all concerned about the law all of a sudden. He was trying to burn down the state constitution a couple months ago. Bushs are above the law.

/must run in the family

2005-05-21 04:15:59 PM
It's a common problem with the Bush Brothers. They are both far removed from reality. Jeb obviously hasn't driven in a while.

2005-05-21 04:16:01 PM
I think there should be catapults on the road. Anyone who leaves 1/4 mile gaps in front of them during traffic jams, slows down to look at non obstructive cars on the side of the road, or drives in the left lane with no intention to pass; they should all just get launched off the road.

2005-05-21 04:16:02 PM
Anyways, this has nothing to do with road rage and everything to do with speeders wanting to speed. It would just reward the speeders by making those who want to drive the speed limit move to the slow lane.

What is a "slow lane?" We have a passing line and a driving lane. Police can stop people driving the speed limit in the passing lane if they aren't passing. They define passing by driving in the lane for like a mile or something. It is really annoying when you are driving the speed limit, someone is in the driving lane going 5 mph less than the speed limit, someone is going in the passing lane going 2 mph less than the limit but also slows down every time they go to pass. It's annoying and illegal here...guess Florida doesn't have the same laws. Unfortunately, it isn't enforced much anywhere.

2005-05-21 04:17:13 PM
Unless you have lived in Florida and have driven those highways and have had to endure people who use the left lane as if it wasn't a passing lane, then you should pipe down. This unorganized scattering of people all over the road instead of keeping things orderly is a big part of the traffic problem in Florida. Jeb wouldn't know about this because he most likely has a driver and never has to deal with this. A motorcade doesn't have the same rules as an average citizen.

JEB! is a dick.

2005-05-21 04:17:56 PM
StrikitRich - I agree, when I was a kid in the NE we had one period where it seemed like 1/2 the state moved to FL. We also call 'em "halfbacks" - since while in NC they're half way back to where they came from.

It should be Keep your grandparents in their home state, I know I sure will.
