2002-04-04 12:43:50 PM

I guess if Washinton is overrun with rats, no Eagles don't really soar there.

2002-04-04 12:44:00 PM
Mayor Anthony Williams has "super cans." hehhehhehheh.

2002-04-04 12:44:04 PM
"a leading rodent ecologist"...wow, I could kill for that job title!

2002-04-04 12:44:11 PM
I used to live in D.C. (94-96) it was a cesspool. Potholes so big that folks were tossing old matresses in to fill them up. Rebar sticking out of the bridges roadway. Bums, junkies, whores...ad nauseum. Of course that was during Marion Barry redux. It's nice to see some thing never change even with Anthony Williams in charge.

Lets have a rat killing derby.

2002-04-04 12:53:28 PM
starting with the politicians?

2002-04-04 12:57:33 PM
I guess we could get those gopher killin' Canadians down here to kill them off. But then how would we get rid of the Canadians?

2002-04-04 12:59:42 PM
careful what you wish for nytyper...
last time Canadians came to DC they burned the Whitehouse down!

2002-04-04 01:00:35 PM
too true Puckhead... 54'40" or fight!

2002-04-04 01:04:06 PM
This is not an explosion of the rat population. It's the Million Marmot march!

Seriously, though, I think a little rat catching expedition might be in order. If DC offered a bounty on rat tails, or, better yet, live rats, folks would be out there with nets and live traps in a flash. Then they could ship them to Lock Faircloth in NC, or maybe to Bob Barr's house.

Nytyper ROTFLMAO!!! Bwaaaahahaha!

2002-04-04 01:07:40 PM
What'd they expect? DC is built on a swamp. Besides, it's simply a giant landfill where we dump unwanted trash in the form of the US Govt.

"Rat pie!
Rat pudding!
Rat on a stick!
...and the ever-popular, Rat-tat-touille"

2002-04-04 01:17:43 PM
Rat have pups? That's just wrong.

2002-04-04 01:21:29 PM
Washington can't solve it's rat problem.

What makes you think it can solve the problems of an entire country?

"But then how would we get rid of the Canadians?"

easy, buy him a Budwiser.

I work at a bar in the Adams Morgan neighborhood
they talk about in the article. No joking - the
rats are HUGE this year and lots more than before.
We had to reinforce doors, cabinets, etc. with plate
steel to keep them out since they kept chewing through
wooden doors & walls. It's a fun neighborhood otherwise.

2002-04-04 01:35:50 PM
adams morgan has huge farking rats. cat size.

i'm glad i'm one of the "successful people" living across the potomac.

btw, arlington rules.

"We had to reinforce doors, cabinets, etc. with plate
steel to keep them out since they kept chewing through
wooden doors & walls. It's a fun neighborhood otherwise." Huh?? Isn't that kind of like a bunch of black folks living next door to the Klan saying "Well, except for being abused and degraded on a daily basis and the weekly cross burnings and monthly lynchings, it really is a good place to live"? Well, on second thought, the black folks would have it better as long as they didn't live in DC too...

2002-04-04 02:51:53 PM
The headline is right: not all the rats in Washington are elected officials. Some, indeed, were merely appointed by a panel of judges.

2002-04-04 03:04:15 PM
DC rules

2002-04-04 03:06:54 PM
I live in DC. Georgetown, in fact, which is the "clean" part.
And, dear God, if the rats get any worse this summer than they were last summer, there will be bubonic plague outbreaks. I will just leave it at this: the novelty of seeing a pack of rats run across the front gate of my campus wore off long ago.

2002-04-04 03:22:26 PM
"Drebin! Do you realize that thanks to you, this city is being overrun by babboons?"

"Isn't that the fault of the voters?"

2002-04-04 03:24:05 PM
Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

29 have been accused of spousal abuse;
7 have been arrested for fraud;
19 have been accused of writing bad checks;
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault;
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit;
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges;
8 have been arrested for shoplifting;
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits;
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress

(wait, you mean actual 4-legged rats? oops, I should really read the article before posting)

2002-04-04 03:48:26 PM
Look at it this way-- if they have to fight it out to survive the winter then only the strong survive. sure, there'll be a whole bunch of rats but the gene pool will be diluted by lazy and stupid rats!

Tada!

I have two more weeks of living in Adams Morgan before I move to Arlington. I'm actually fairly impressed by the garbage removal friday and saturday nights after the bars close. Its quite efficient. The biggest rats I've seen are on the mall late at night. Don't go near the garbage cans.

The Dark One:

You mean like America?

2002-04-04 04:15:51 PM
Soupgoblin: actually America is where the European scum had to struggle to survive, leaving only the strong.

"Some are not elected officials..."

Error: Dubya is a chimp, not a rat.

PegLeg: don't take my above post too seriously, those statistics have been circulating through email and are likely exaggerated, I posted it mainly for humor value. As for the source here's what I found:

these figures come from a series of articles by the website CAPITOL HILL BLUE (www.chblue.com).

Their research covers both present and past members of Congress, so it is misleading as it implies all the offenses were committed by current members of Congress.

I can't confirm the accuracy or how many of the offenses mentioned were committed by congressmen currently serving, but I too would be interested in finding out exactly how many of our current congressmen have been involved with things like spousal abuse, drunk driving, drug charges, failed businesses and white collar crimes.

Ahhhhhh....that's how come we have an overabundance of "strong scum" here....
