Carn:

I tried to make it illegal to drink Budweiser," while keeping locally brewed Miller products free of fines, Murphy joked.

Sack this man!

This is the overwhelming opinions of most Milwaukeeans. When I lived there if I was making a beer run and someone asked me to pick them up a Bud product, I would say no.

D_The_Duck:

Well, welcome back when you get here. I agree that the Brewers don't look inept this year as they have for the past 20 some years. But, as is in life, I'm trying to take lemons and make lemonade but I'll probably just get citric acid in my eye.

Brewers and Cubs fans have more in common than most would think when it comes to this mindset. I wouldn't mind setting up a Fark Brewers game next season when I am back.

This is probably just to get back at the Milwaukee Sheriff's Department. A little while back, the sheriff's deputies started moving off the interstates and into Milwaukee and stopping "suspicious" cars, and they ended up confiscating a bunch of guns and drugs. It was embarassing to the police department, to say the least.

So, of course the P.D. is forced to jail\ticket all these lawbreakers, since they have solved all other crime in our fair city.

Does this qualify as Ironic?

You can't tailgate at a BREWERS game?

2005-05-20 12:26:29 PM
Thunderpants beat me to it.

2005-05-20 12:26:52 PM
They don't want tailgating because they can justify you cashing your paycheck to buy one beer inside the park.

That would probably be true, except that ticket sales would drop by at least 50% (and I'm probably being conservative there) if tailgating WITH ALCOHOL was really banned. In the long run, they are much better off financially letting people drink in the lot. Also, almost all the concession stands at the Park are run by local charities/fundraiser groups.

TGI Fridays stadium fark party? Fark tailgating/Brewer game?????? Could we hornswaggle the Brewers to welcoming the UFIA group from Fark.com and put it on the scoreboard (I think we would need to buy a certian number of tickets)???? I'm loving this idea.

I know, I had a bunch of friends from Wisconsin in college. We would usually have to agree to buy half bud half miller when we got our beer. I just can't stand miller lite. MGD is ok, but I'll still take Bud over it in a heartbeat.

Milwaukee is a hell of a fun city to go to, and Brewers games are one of the reasons.

2005-05-20 12:28:13 PM
On that note, Miller Brewery is celebrating their 150th anniversary on August 20th.

It's going to be one huge, free tailgate in the Miller Park parking lot. I guess Bon Jovi (eh..) is headlining, along with two other unannounced bands in a free concert.

I'll be there breaking this law. You should too.

Girls don't flash their boobies in Wisconsin, and there are no trailer parks in Milwaukee.

You're thinking of Florida.

Me and 25 of my college friends went the first year Miller Park was open and since we had a large group they asked us what we wanted are name to be and we said Farwell Avenue Communist Party. They put it on the board. I am sure we could get UFIA through.

I actually have tickets for all the rest of the Cubs games at Miller Park this season. I don't think setting up a Miller Park Fark Party would be out of the question.

What about the children?

The US is losing out to Japan because the children are watching their parents drink before Brewers games.

This would have to be the only portion of Milwaukee, nay, the entire state of Wisconsin where drinking is illegal. I lived in that wretched state for a while and I have never seen so much drinking in all my life! I had to move away just to New Orleans just to dry out!

/lost my heart over a polish girl from Milwaukee's south side, not biiter much!

Silly Canadiens,

It's Bernie the Brewer and he still does the slide just now it's in Miller Stadium.

Anyways, that's an absurd law for Milwaukee considering that SummerFest, German Fest, Greek Fest, Festa Italania, Africa Fest, Arab Fest, Indian Fest, Irish Fest, and Pride Fest are all at the Henry Maier Festival Park. And except for the Arab fest all of them involve consuming large amounts of beer.

2005-05-20 12:33:07 PM
Correction to above;

"I had to move to New Orleans just to dry out!"

2005-05-20 12:33:13 PM
I farking love this town. Where else would a city councilman interject in FAVOR of a person's right to drink in public?

"Well, it IS Milwaukee." Beer, Brats, and Bikes. What more could a person ask for?

Ya, ya, Milwaukee.

"We didn't want a bunch of lawbreakers on our hands, although we could have made a lot of money," Murphy said.

So, the formula is:

1. Have stupid law on the books but don't enforce it
2. Wait 25 years until everyone is complacent, then start ticketing
3. PROFIT!

//Brewers suck

2005-05-20 12:36:29 PM
I for one welcome the new Miller Park Fark party overlords. I'm totally game.

Ya ya Milwaukee?? My god it's been a long time since I heard that. You reading the green sheet over there?

Hehe, now that I live in Texas everyone says I drink too much and I probably drink a quarter of how much I did when I lived in Wisconsin.

Solchie: Miller Park Fark Party - I'm there... just let me know when!

Tell ya what. I am moving back to Wisconsin in three weeks. I would be willing to set something like this up with another farker's help. Email in profile if anyone is willing to volunteer.

You have obviously never met my sister. She punctured a hole in her gas tank and drove the rest of the way home without even noticing. Pulled right into the garage and walked in the house. She is very lucky I was not outside smoking at the time.

Yes, thank Fark we do have more sense than the Girls Gone Wild bimbos, but I do think we have more fun!

Yes, I can change my own oil.
I can do my brakes, too.

'dell still drink dare beer, 'ya know hey?

Actually, it's "ya hey, dontcha know?".

And it's farking Wisconsin, that's ALL WE DO HERE. I know this for a fact. I live in the city that had the most bars per capita within the last 10 years. I think it is/was something like 1 bar for every 25 or 30 people, and the city is about 75,000 now if I remember right. It's been a while since I checked the sign but I'm pretty sure that's what we're up to now (even if it does count the college kids). The city won't even approve liquor liscenses anymore, unless someone gets theirs revoked or goes outta business. It's party night monday through saturday for pretty much every one here, and the diehards stick with it through sunday. No days off for us.

/Ahhh yahhhh

Ohhh, and I still hate Eau Claire.

Thanks, and have a great day,

I submited this with a better headline
Ironic: It's illegal to drink while tailgating outside Miller Park.

//and yes, I really do think it was better

Mierk: Anywho... Miller Park Fark Party v1.0. Lets make it happen.

Sounds like a plan. As I said earlier I am moving back to Wisconsin in three weeks. I will get to work on it then. I have already received a few emails from people. My email is in my profile if you want to throw in some ideas.

I'll give a thumbs up to Milwaukee girls...the one I had for a g/f for a while was pretty cool. The only negative was that she was a major drinker but couldn't hold it very well and got sick a lot. There's nothing quite like holding your girlfriends's long dark hair while she pukes in the street outside a place called "Cheers".

/Milwaukee was an experience, I'll say that...

Where have you gone Cecil Cooper?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you... whoo ooo oo.
What's that you say Bernie Brewer?
Brewer pride has left and gone away?
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey.

so the cops are'nt busting the drivers for being in care of their vehicle? great, quick charge of 'boozing and in care of a vehicle'.((just like drinking and driving to some stick up the azz's.))

Guttrpunk: Forget Bernie the Brewer. Rally Rabbit all the way!

What's the deal with that "Rally Rabbit" anyways? I've noticed him during games but nobody I've talked to knew why he was there.

heh heh heh ... You Flubbies fans always make me laugh. Get Ready for the White Sox, beeyotches!

No mistake - the Brewers suck. Think about the Indians from "Major League" (filmed in County Staduim, by the way) but worse.

2005-05-20 01:46:28 PM
Ok, apparently everyone knows why Muta is wrong, so I won't touch that.

Reading and listening to this all day yesterday, there have just been a few select officers that actually enforce this ordinance. They're trying to get Miller Park completely exempt from the law under a "special event" ordinance, till something (if anything, this might be permanent) can be done about the underlying law.

I can see why this got voted into the books though, but I doubt they thought of things like Brewer games.

There is too much drinking in sports. It tells the children that it is right to drink. Someone has to take a stand.

Solchie, I think I may have to take a number for your love, but in case the other half dozen fall through, I'll be here for you. ;p
