Rosebud is a sled.

2005-05-19 11:07:28 AM
I saw Episode II all grainy and crappy. The only thing I felt that I missed out on the first time I saw it was the Yoda fight. Besides that, it sucked just as much when I watched the DVD as the first time I watched it.

2005-05-19 11:07:28 AM
Now pirated p0rn, that's a totally different ball of wax.

What kind of pr0n are YOU watching?

2005-05-19 11:07:36 AM
boohiss: Yeck. A leaked workprint. No thanks.

Not the version i watched on a friends TV last night. I am still gladly going to pay to see it ont he big screen, but from what i saw of the dl'ed version, it's not a workprint. BUT again who the hell wants to dl a movie and watch it when a big screen is the best place to see it?!

2005-05-19 11:07:55 AM
itting in your uncomfortable desk chair

It's called S-Video. The cable costs like $0.50 and your crappy-desktop-PC likely already supports it. Your TV, on the other hand, would have to be from POST-Communist Russia to support it, so there's always THAT to contend with...

2005-05-19 11:09:08 AM
"Seeing it on the big screen will be worth the $6-$10 you'll have to shell out."

$20 if you have a date ... oh ... sorry

2005-05-19 11:09:29 AM
This may be a slight threadjack, but is Lucas Planning on making the "Final 3 Episodes" he claims to have?

2005-05-19 11:09:47 AM
Shocked the hell out of us...

2005-05-19 11:10:18 AM
I saw the original Star Wars.....once, when I was but a wee lad..... Have not seen any of the others, and most likely will not see the newest one.....

So, why am I even posting in this thread......just to be "that guy"......you're welcome

2005-05-19 11:10:47 AM
In POST-Communist Russia big screen TV watches YOU!

2005-05-19 11:11:00 AM
there is no substitute for seeing it in the theater, which I will in a week or two when I don't have to sit next to nine and a half bussloads of cell phone touting teenagers.

In the mean time why not download it. I'm in front of a computer all day anway, why not have something cool on in the background. The script has been out for years now, it's not like your spoiling anything.

2005-05-19 11:11:11 AM
Like downloading could come close to making a dent in ticket sales (not to mention merchandising, or can you download your Darth Vader Corn Flakes, too?)

2005-05-19 11:11:16 AM
If only we could find an ALTernative to downloading BINARIES maybe we wouldn't be making so many DVDRs

/just sayin'

2005-05-19 11:12:36 AM
Well played, rstln76

2005-05-19 11:12:46 AM
NutznGum

Rosebud is a sled.

You just ruined it for me! I was just about to sit down and watch Citizen Kane this very moment (after downloading it of course, cause I'm teh kewl), and you spoiled the ending!!111!

Who'da thought it was a sled?

Where was your SPOILER ALERT!???//??

Next thing you're gonna tell me is "To Serve Man" is some sort of cook book?

2005-05-19 11:12:51 AM
Someone mentioned that it's 1/2 hour longer than the theatrical release. WTF??? Anyone know if this is true???

2005-05-19 11:13:07 AM
2005-05-19 11:10:18 AM chevydeuce I'm proud to be that guy too.

2005-05-19 11:14:18 AM
true that rstln76, but who would want to see a movie with such two BIT acTORs like hayden chRisTENsen in iT

2005-05-19 11:14:34 AM
"I don't see how the online availability of a movie supposedly has such a huge effect on ticket sales."

It doesn't. They operate under the false assumption that people that view it for free would have paid for it otherwise. That's simply not true.

2005-05-19 11:14:42 AM
The chick from 'The Crying Game' is a man, baby!

2005-05-19 11:15:34 AM
BTW....I've heard that the audio boook "fixes" a lot of the dialog problems that the movie had. Might be worth a d/l itself....

2005-05-19 11:15:44 AM
I thought it was a well written article. It had panache and bite.

Take that, millionares!

2005-05-19 11:16:00 AM
In retrospect Episode III was a lot better than what I had expected. Of course this goes without saying that my expectations were duly low considering the last two lemons.

ancient_chinese_secret: cracking up because of your username

Peace

2005-05-19 11:16:03 AM
NCg8r I'veh eard it's true, that the workprint is 2hrs 58 minutes and does contain scenes not in the movie. Although I also hear they're mostly miniscule stuff and nothing that would make it to a "deleted scenes" dvd extra.

2005-05-19 11:16:37 AM
It doesn't matter if it has an effect on ticket sales or not. The fact is that it is someone else's copyrighted work, and if you want to see it you should pay for it.

So download shiat if you want, but your "little guy vs. corporate America" whines are bullshiat.

2005-05-19 11:17:12 AM
HAHA! Nerfherders!

2005-05-19 11:17:40 AM
it was out yesterday

2005-05-19 11:17:46 AM
Thank you, DevilCat, for clarifying. Should make for an "interesting" post-theater review...

2005-05-19 11:18:39 AM
Who's scruffy looking?

2005-05-19 11:18:40 AM
so i can watch it for free now?

sorry, that price is still too high. Let me know when Lucas is willing to pay me to watch it.

2005-05-19 11:19:07 AM
On my way in to work today local bootleg DVD guy who hangs out in penn station already had it. Nice printed DVD packaged with cover art. 10 bucks. His quality is usually real good. The Harold and Khumar I got from him while it was still in the theater is almost identical in quality to the official dvd that came out 6 months later.

2005-05-19 11:20:50 AM
I saw it last night at midnight it was good but I need to see it again. The one part that made me cringe was after the mask was put on vader and he starts asking about Padme. Noo nooo nooooo. That sucked.

2005-05-19 11:20:56 AM
MobNauzeum

Some of the worst acting I've seen in a Hollywood film in years.

Definition of hopelessly clueless: Someone who goes to a Star Wars movie looking for award-winning acting and dialogue. WTF did you expect? Why did you go?

S2A

2005-05-19 11:21:44 AM
Saw the movie last night - it is good. There are still some flaws (Ah, Padme, isn't it tuff sleeping with all that make-up on?..."Noooooooooooo!"), but for the most part it kicks azz.

Best part is Ewan McGregor. The whole "you were the chosen one" scene is awesome - there is actually real pain in this episode.

Yeah, so you can't capture the magic of the original, that was almost impossible to do. But E3 makes up for E1 and E2 for the most part.

And, IMO, Hayden does a WAY better job in this episode - his scenes with Natalie Portman, well, there is some actual emotion there, although a day late and a dollar short.

8.5/10

(still not better than E4, 5 and 6, though)

/my 2 cents

2005-05-19 11:22:07 AM
I hear the bootleg version has Jar Jar at the end saying, "Meesa Jar Jar Binks. Da movie's over okey-day."

2005-05-19 11:22:09 AM
HEY ASSHOLES:

If you're going to talk about details of the film, please note that it's a spoiler post.

It used to be common courtesy on Fark.

2005-05-19 11:22:20 AM
ElGatoDiablo: I'm sure it's worth a lot to the little star wars fans of africa

opening here on big screen this weekend i think.

All members of the MPAA, RIAA, etc, should be tried for treason in a court of law, and if convicted, sentenced to death in the electric chair.

/Just my humble opinion...

2005-05-19 11:23:36 AM
At home you miss the traffic, looking for parking spaces, waiting in line, the great comments from the audience, the crying babies, the ringing cell phones, the guy eating the 5lbs of popcorn next to you, and the sticky floors. Yep, its a tough call.

arsindelve:

Wait 10 hours to download a grainy piece of crap and then watch it on 19 inch screen in stereo, or pay $7.50 to see it on a 19 foot screen in Dolby Digital Surround...tough call, that one.

//Wait, how does popcorn price affect the equation?

2005-05-19 11:23:46 AM
All you jerks who badmouth downloaders are either stupid or angry that you didn't get a pony when you played the lead in the school play.
Get a clue. I wouldn't pay $7.50 to see almost ANYTHING that I can't take home and watch an infinite number of times.
The dvd will be out in <6 months ANYWAY. I'll buy that because it's got all the fancy extras and will also be around $15 by the time I've decided it's cheap enough anyway.
Welcome to the free market. THE CUSTOMER IS KING AND LORD. When theater prices become reasonable again, I'll participate in their game. Until then, thanks to the internets, I'll circumvent it.

2005-05-19 11:23:47 AM
I don't know, the quality is pretty good. Here's a screen capture:

2005-05-19 11:23:52 AM
Now pirated p0rn, that's a totally different ball of wax.

Where is this ball of wax to which you refer, and how is pr0n involved?

2005-05-19 11:24:14 AM
I just bought tickets for a show this evening. My son and I are going to see it. I'm hoping they are selling fried ewok legs at the snack bar, thems good eats.

Plus, I'm almost done downloading my corn flakes box...

2005-05-19 11:24:27 AM
***SPOILER ALERT***

***END SPOILER ALERT***

2005-05-19 11:24:48 AM
Do they blow stuff up in the movie? I really like it when they blow stuff up. Can't really name any of the characters but I love when they blow stuff up.

2005-05-19 11:25:16 AM
what happens to the twins?

2005-05-19 11:25:17 AM
Bloodsworth

Good one. But you know what I mean, I'm sure.

Some of us want to see the movie without it being spoiled, but weren't dorky enough to go the first night.

2005-05-19 11:26:03 AM
1. This is news? Sheesh...I didn't think it was possible to lower Fark's standards for submission. I guess I was wrong.

2. Ancient Chinese Secret...I can tell what is scarier about that picture. The size of her hooters or the look on her face.

With that said: I'd let her play with my lightsaber.

2005-05-19 11:26:47 AM
***SPOILER***

Darth Vader is Luke's FATHER!
