Mister TB:

The Boss threatens to kill audience members with a chainsaw whose cell phones ring ... doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Chainsaws with cell-phones, that ring even?

2005-05-13 12:49:04 AM
Submitter...you made a mistake. The headline should read:

Audience members threatened to be killed as cell phones ring with a chainsaw by the boss

2005-05-13 12:58:53 AM
"The Boss threatens to take a chainsaw to audience members with ringing cell phones."

There.

"The Boss threatens to take a chainsaw to audience members with ringing cell phones."

We have a winner!

I think the correct way would be: "The Boss threatens to kill, with a chainsaw, audience members whose cell phones ring."

2005-05-13 01:28:05 AM
Yeah, either of those would work pretty well. Submitter = teh dumb.

2005-05-13 01:32:43 AM
I submitted this with a better chainsaw.

As a Jerseyan transplanted to Berkeley this sentence structure odd sense makes me too?

Am I the only one who upon reading that article had the feeling that concert farking sucked? I'm sure the "power" of the music was absoltely enrapturing... a whole two and a half hours of it... What with it's lack of clapping, cheering, moving, etc. You know, things one would normally associate with a "concert".

I think the better plan would be to just get a bootleg of the live concert, play it through some decent surround sound speakers, and then play falling numberes on my cellphone the WHOLE time. With a chainsaw.

My modifier dangles to the left.

A friend was at a Simon & Garfunkel show not long ago, and she said someone's cell phone rang. Paul Simon had them pass the phone to him onstage so he could answer it. The caller thought it was just a joke and hung up.

/only slightly amusing

I read the article, and was impressed with Springstein's ability to solo for 2 and 1/2 hours and keep the audience's attention. A singer, and songwriter, and guitar player, it's real music he's making...

And I think, the combined 'talent' of every American Idol winner would fit into one of his guitar piks. What is that show for, anyway? What is good music? I'm starting to forget.

I have a fever...and the only prescription...is more chainsaw!

You know when it's not a rock concert when cell phones are an issue.

2005-05-13 04:45:05 AM
My ex-girlfriend's ringtone on my phone was a chainsaw.

You can infer why she's my "ex-"girlfriend...

Friday the 13th and Misplaced Modifier Day! Hooahh!

2005-05-13 06:48:14 AM
I submitted this with a better headline.

/not really
//anything would beat 'ring with a chainsaw'
///misplaced modifier

2005-05-13 07:31:41 AM
The cell phones are more entertaining. Fark the boss.
Springsteen always sucked.

Mr. Springsteen, your new wardrobe is here:

The Boss's family better watch out. The guy that just killed those two girls started out chasing people with chainsaws. Could chainsaws be a gateway melee weapon?

2005-05-13 08:07:43 AM
Their cellphone rings with a chainsaw?

/misplaced modifier
//The Boss threatens to kill with a chainsaw audience members whose cell phones ring
///Still cannot believe the things that people submit. Too tough to read it over once or twice? Did this sound right?

2005-05-13 08:20:58 AM
That has got to be a new ringtone..."ring with a chainsaw".

2005-05-13 08:28:28 AM
I got it immediately...what does that say about me?

Sometimes you guys make me so proud. At least when the thread isn't about politics or religion.

I killed a Boss with a chainsaw last night.

Boobies:

Sometimes it's like someone took a chainsaw baby, edgy and dull
And cut a six-inch valley through the middle of my cell

The winner, by a landslide.

rickythepenguin: A maelstrom of sound, all coming from one guy

Was it loud enough to drown out cell phones?

(In my experience, the volume at a rock concert is enough to make cell phones pretty much unusable, and therefore not a potential problem.)

2005-05-13 09:49:23 AM
I'm glad my phone doesn't ring with a chainsaw. I'll be safe.

Now here's a Bruce who knows a little something about chainsaws.

2005-05-13 11:21:56 AM
And the people that are using their cell phones on the dance floor in a freaking night club should be punched in the face.

Springsteen sucks!! He ain't the boss of me

2005-05-13 12:18:51 PM
Wouldn't that be a misplaced modifier, not a dangling participle?

/never got around to taking English 101...

2005-05-13 12:28:40 PM
That story wasn't near as cool as the headline made it out to be. Why doesn't the submitter fess up on this? Dumbass.

2005-05-13 01:26:53 PM
I have several recordings of Bruce concerts, and he likes quiet for his acoustic shows. He often has some goofy comment in the beginning of them.

2005-05-13 02:30:14 PM
Who's paying whom for a show here? Springsteen is a pompous ass, which is only one of the many reasons I can't stand his music.

2005-05-13 02:37:41 PM
Springsteen is an example of the overhyped everyman bullshiat-spewing-bandolier that has the rest of America slurping from his nutsack while he pretends to be one of us for an hour or two before he heads back on his private Lear jet and gets his shmeckle polished by a couple of 10-Grand- an-hour silicone enhanced crack whores.

2005-05-13 03:20:36 PM
Bruce is a farking tool, always has been, cant understand why people would buy this retards music. Kudos to you and your new album the one with the song about anal sex with a prostitute you dum fukk.

2005-05-13 04:42:43 PM
Bruce has always portrayed himself as a blue collar guy, friend of the common man, yada yada. I like some of his stuff so was gonna go see him when he came thru town. The cheapest ticket, up in the nosebleeds was $75.00. I guess I've dropped below common man/blue collar status.

When will these musicians have enough money? Bono goes on a talking to the average person tour of the U.S. for his pet cause of releaving 3rd world debt. Guess how much the new U2 cd costs when it came out? You guessed it $15-20. How can you seriously give these people's opinion's any credit?

better get off his lawn too...
