make that "...a future citizen..."

2005-05-09 03:30:59 PM
if you have time travel you can show up for an instant, dilate that moment, leave with no-one the wiser..

2005-05-09 03:31:18 PM
We did, however, have a great series of lectures, awesome bands, and even a DeLorean.

Sounds fun. Think I'll go now.

2005-05-09 03:35:23 PM
That, and the whole polluting the timeline thing everyone's always harping about.

2005-05-09 03:36:12 PM
What if they were transported there and had no memory of the actual transport?

2005-05-09 03:37:14 PM
I missed it because I was working on my time machine.

Obviously, it doesn't work, and I guess it never will since I apparently didn't show up. Unless someone saw me there. If I did show up, let me know before I waste anymore time on this contraption.

2005-05-09 03:37:45 PM
I was going to go to this, but when I was about to get into my time machine, my future self showed up and told me the party sucked. We talked for a bit and then decided to go drinking. My older self is pretty cool. He paid for several rounds and even told me about a girl two years from now who wants me.

Nabb1

Hang on, I'll go check...

2005-05-09 03:38:55 PM
Someone forgot to add the crystals...

2005-05-09 03:39:11 PM
Nope, not there. Waited for 2 hours and you didn't show.

2005-05-09 03:39:37 PM
Most of us went to the party up the block, which had better beer and friendlier girls.

Yeah, I *highly* doubt any time traveler would be willing to risk going back and triggering the end of civilization or something.

"kill.... kill the .... turn it off, turn it off"

I can't believe nobody showed up pretending to be a time traveler.

0ok

I blame on the freak Nor'easter weather on Saturday.

I was going to come but it was Oct 27, 2008 and the Red Sox were on the brink of winning their 5th straight World Series so it couldnt leave. BTW they beat those pesky Mets again.

2005-05-09 03:45:14 PM
actually there were people that showed up...it's just that the party sucked so badly, they went back to the future and told themselves not to go.

2005-05-09 03:49:13 PM
Was it a Waco-type event?

2005-05-09 03:51:25 PM
morrisonsl: Was it a Waco-type event?

I don't think either FBI or Janet Reno were involved at this party...nor was there a dramatic firework in the ending.

2005-05-09 03:51:59 PM
Thanks, tchamber. I'm off to eBay to unload a lot of junk.

Hey, wait a second...

2005-05-09 03:52:18 PM
If I were a time traveler, I would have shown up just to knock up a few chicks and then skip the present. Try collecting child support from me then!

ThereAreFourLights: Berlinghoff Rasmussen, I presume?

The sad thing is that I immediately got this reference.

2005-05-09 03:56:29 PM
I was going to go but they scheduled it at the same time as the 2010 one, so I went to that instead.

Ditto.

Me: Hi. My name's Matt and ......I'm a geek

All: Hi Matt.

2005-05-09 03:57:25 PM
Well duh, it's not nearly as interesting/exciting as the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

Besides none of our cool Intergalactic -Earthfriends can go back to this time yet, since we have to wait for that whole cool Episode of Cops to watch when the First Grey Shows up.

Milliways is to formal for me, I prefer the Big Bang Burger Bar. It has great beer and live music!

Why is this sad? You should be proud of your nerd heritage, as I am!

Scary is getting this reference. Scarier is knowing, KNOWING mind you, that TAFL was able to type this out this name without needing to even pause and think.

0ok

The highlight of the evening was a presentation by physicist Steve Miller, making a bold and dire claim that time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future.

Doohdehley - doohdehley - doohdehley...

What's even scarier is that she probably has his poster on her wall...

Unfortunately, my time machine malfunctioned and I was tossed back to Nazi Germany. Considering how rusty my high school German is, that wasn't nearly as much fun as it sounds.

Luckily, I was able to cobble together a fix and make another jump back in time to bump off Aloys Schicklgruber. His son grew up to be the worst painter I've ever seen.

I'd dare say if one doesn't get the reference right away, maybe he/she shouldn't be visiting this thread.

[Yeah I got it, too.]

That's not sad.

Yes, yes I was.

Not yet. But that's a fabulous idea. Move over, Patrick Stewart -- I've got new wall candy!

What a waste of time.

2005-05-09 04:54:31 PM
From the page:

DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, NO ATTENDEES WILL BE ADMITTED WHO HAVE NOT ALREADY RSVP'D. SORRY FOLKS, OUR EVENT CAN ONLY HOLD SO MANY PEOPLE.

It could be that people from the future are just very polite.

Atvar: You should be proud of your nerd heritage, as I am!

It's just the thought that I will never touch a woman that makes me sad.

Badger: What's even scarier is that she probably has his poster on her wall...

I don't even want to think about what she is doing with that poster.

Snarfangel: His son grew up to be the worst painter I've ever seen.

This was in a photoshop awhile back.

Tina Fey claimed that nobody showed up because they already knew that the party sucked.

Well, they were from the future, right?

2005-05-09 07:51:53 PM
that's not true. I did eventually show up, but was 2 hours late.

2005-05-09 07:52:06 PM

Goodnight, Futureboy!

/great scott!

2005-05-09 07:56:11 PM
The men in black really showed up and took all the time travelers to a undisclosed location (j/k lol)

2005-05-09 07:57:24 PM
Gee, if attendees had to R.S.V.P., wouldn't the organizers have known who was coming from the future, before the event took place? When they got no R.S.V.P.s from time travellers from the future, shouldn't they have cancelled it?

/Boggles the mind....

2005-05-09 07:58:33 PM
Well duh ... you can't go back in time to before the day that the first time machine is invented.

Unfortunately time machines will be completely useless until well into the future after the first one's invented.

At which time ... people will have forgotten how to build one ... so they'll have to wait to re-invent it.

Viscious cycle really. I don't want to talk about it anymore.

2005-05-09 07:59:41 PM
The only thing of note that happend to me was this old guy showed up and gave me this book of sports box scores. He was mumbling about gambling and protecting the book and whatnot.

I got reaaaaly drunk and puked all over it, so I had to throw it away later that night.

Giacomo makes the 2nd greatest upset in Kentucky Derby History, and MIT is suprised no time travelers are in Boston? They are all in Louisville, drinking mint juleps and placing outrageous bets ... on the 2nd place horse @ 70-1 to "place" in order to keep from getting identified by the media as a "winner".
/not rich, not a time traveller.
