My wife has wanted to have this done since she were a teenager. Insurance wouldn't pay for it though.

I'm glad this didn't get an irony tag.

Oddly enough, studies show that penile reduction surgeries have remained at zero, and continue to be unpopular.

Is there anything that won't cause a lack of self-esteem in some women?

2005-05-07 02:52:12 PM
Nothing like boobies so big they hurt your back... I will never understand how people can willingly attach huge orbs to their chest. They must suffer from back problems later.

2005-05-07 02:53:25 PM
My boobs have always caused great self-consciousness and depression, but I always that was because I was man.

Way to brag, Gaius.

Big boobs are good unless causing back injuries. Keep them.

My sister just gained weight and grew into a C cup and she's already biatching that they're getting in the way of everything she's doing.

Boobies large,
Boobies huge,
Those that jiggle,
And those that move,
To normal size,
To normal shape,
Be them normal,
Before backs break!

Bigguns can be very distracting indeed.

Big breasts cause insecurity. Small breasts cause insecurity. Why can't women be more like men? We're happy with any kind of breasts.

Oh... sorry mickey_21. I spoke too soon.

2005-05-07 02:58:47 PM
even if they make you self-conscious...they're just so darn much fun. how could you not love them?

Breast reduction surgery = smaller boobies

Insecure if they're not big enough - leads to depression.
Self-conscious if they're too big - leads to depression.

Great.

Don't let Brooks of SBB hear about this, we'd lose all of his barmaids.

I'm not saying it's impossible for a woman of a BMI between 18.5-25 to have large enough breasts that it hurts her neck and back, but let's be honest: most women with excessively large (natural) breasts are overweight or obese. How many female long-distance runners (or athletes in general) do you see with this problem? Or even women who do a moderate amount of exercise combined with sensible eating habits? Not very many. Lose the weight first, see how much the breasts shrink, and if they're still excessively large and causing physical problems, THEN get a breast reduction.

Often these women have been subjected to unwanted comments and attention that has increased their self-consciousness.

Often these women have been subjected to extra comments and attention that get them things that they want.

Many spend an inordinate amount of time ... searching for bras that don't create deep ridges in their shoulders from the extra weight of their heavy breasts.

The straps are either too short or too narrow. Buy bigger straps. That is all.

My best friend had this. Hers were at least DD, and she's not even 5 feet tall. She's not fat either; in fact she did en pointe ballet. But her chest got so big and her back problems got so bad she had to quit ballet. Now she's proportional and much happier.

I have the solution. Have implants just as large attached to the back. Twice the popularity, coming AND going.

I am fortunate that the circles i run in are extremely materialisitc and shallow, therefore all my GF's have either had really large breasts and would never even udder the word " reduction " or....if they weren't large enough to attract the kind of attention needed, they went and got implants. currently engaged to implants, and to start off the debate....I like 'em. I'm all for 'em.

I used to work with an average/thin sized (i.e. not skinny, not fat) girl in decent shape who had a huge (HUGE!) chest. I never asked how big because I worked with her and she was married -- but I knew that they weren't fake. Whenver she wore a sweater, it looked like the buttons were going to fly off -- I don't know how they didn't just undo themselves. She was proportioned like a Barbie -- excepting that she had a normal waste instead of a tiny one. An anecdote for sure, but they do exist.

Another GF of mine actually had her reduced. She was sort of big and could have stood to lose some wieght, but they were still big (DD) after the reduction, so they must have been huge before.

My current roommate is prime candidate for this. She's got the biggest pair I've ever seen, but she's also obese. Jugs hang down to her stomach, stomach hangs down to her thighs. "The Hamburglar", as I call her, also wakes me up every day at like 2am when she chugs two strawberry cokes and stuffs her face full of cheese'n'onion chips. The demon of fat to whom her soul has been sold won't let her pass the night without eating 10+ pounds of junk food.

I had this done and don't regret it a bit, although I still need to lose more weight. I don't miss the constant neck and shoulder pain one bit.

I recommend this site if anyone else want more info (although I realize the majority of you just want more boobies)

LMAO -- if you had huge jugs would you go long-distance running? You can't find a decent sports bra that would have fit me before the surgery. My old bras cost $75 a pop at the "special" store and you could carry a bowling ball around in them. As I said, I do need to lose more weight, but the surgery has made exercising much easier.

All righty then, that ought to do it for my "over-share" quotient this weekend...

Is that a Freudian slip... or a Freudian LANDSLIDE

The physical problems are severe enough that insurance companies will often cover breast reductions, though it does depend on each patients physical situation.

The only job to have at an insurance company is being responsible for this decision.

Boobs are really great, until they become dangerous. Like anything else, you can o.d. on boobage.

Still, me likes the big girls. Yummy.

I agree with disgruntella. Had it done..best thing I could have ever done in my life. As for losing weight before the reduction, nearly impossible because sports bras were impossible to find with enough support or you would have to wear two of them (cutting off circulation). Basically, exercising with big breasts can be equated to a very painful belly flop in a pool. IT HURTS. Now, you can enter into the equation back pain, posture problems, self esteem and self consciousness.

2005-05-07 03:27:36 PM
Friend of mine had a reduction done... a total of 5 pounds removed from her chest! She did look a biatchunky before but afterwards she looked very trim and fit.

This article almost makes it look like self-consciousness is a bad thing in women.

The obvious solution is not brest reduction, but to have two more breasts installed on your back. This will balance the weight, and you wont be stressing your back.

Plus, you won't have to strain yourself doing the reacharound.. they will be right in front of you....

woof.

hahaha, only if you see it as a problem...

i'm a DDD & run 2-6 miles a day, it's like strapping yourself into a harness. i'm cool with them for now, but whenever they start giving me pain, i'll be looking into this...

back when i used to watch mtv, and tv in general, they had a show called True Life and they did a special on when one chick got a reduction(another got implants in the same episode i think though)

Oddly enough, studies show that penile reduction surgeries have remained at zero, and continue to be unpopular.

Maybe the lack of understanding among men has to do with the fact there is no real male equivalent for this problem. Let's face it, the amount of men who have lower back issues because of their huge equipment does not exactly run into the millions.

Know a girl myself who's getting this done. Can't say that I blame her, she suffers from it majorly, and even after the operation she won't exactly be modestly sized.

That's because those guys buy trucks or sports cars with great big engines that can carry that girth around.
