Kangaroo Hip-Hop (and remix).

Sorry! No direct link! :( (it's the first two listed anyhow)

Made this about a month back to make fun of all those crappy, boring "krunk" style "musicians". Came tome when I was recordning some old records I found with kid's songs and other rather bizzare ways to enstil a sense of musical apriciation into children...

I think this is what the nutcracker ballet would sound like if it were produced today. With all the dancers doing trashy choreography ala Christina Agulara (sp?) in Dirty.

/mmmm, trashy choreography

In all seriousness, what is meant by "old" music anyway?

Plenty of old music is covered, and tributed, and sampled. Are we talking about re-versioning, or are we talking about what would, say, Sgt. Pepper sound like if it were recorded on a Neve and edited in Protools, instead of on a 4track?

If you wanna know how it would really sound, there would be too many layers, the vocals would be really dry, bright and brittle (aka in yer face) it would use a POD or two, and the master would be smashed to utter death (-8db RMS) in order to be able to compete on the radio. It would have numerous remixes, it would be a single and never an LP, it would always have to "feature or Feat." somebody who isn't in the band for cross promotion, and it would have a lot less soul and melody, and way too much rhythm in its place. :)

And of course, Cher would somehow manage to get herself involved. :-/

excellent work by everyone, YMIGSTC and berklee especially!

here are my entries (though admittedly, these were made while just messing around, and not specifically for this audioedit):

the shadow knows
jefferson airplane, james brown, and clips from an old radio show, all mashed into one song.

chilliwack (feat. vera hall) - rain-o (duke ellington/charlie parker remix)
another mash-up, this time of classic rock, jazz, and an old black spiritual. this one is still unfinished.

these will only be up for 7 days since AE-stor wouldn't work and i had to go with another site.

WTF
ok those links aren't working properly. i did not mean to link to an ATB song. mods, please delete the previous post.

these should work now:

the shadow knows (3.3 MB)
jefferson airplance, james brown, and clips from an old radio show, all mashed into one song.

chilliwack (feat. vera hall) - rain-o (duke ellington & charlie parker remix) (3.1 MB)
another mash-up, this time of classic rock, jazz, and an old black spiritual. this one is still unfinished.
