Ontario Provincial Police arrested the intoxicated woman last Wednesday after she flagged them down and demanded they find her shoes.

Umm, yeah...

The officer was not seriously injured, except for a red mark on his forehead, said Neelin.

Was the red mark perhaps in the shape of a letter "L"?

"To discourage assaults on police officers, provincial court judges are sending offenders to jail."

What a great idea!

The 25 cops were assaulted a total of 48 times last year!?! Does that strike anyone else as just wrong? I can see something like that in a large city, but that town's just a dingy little fishing town.

This reminds me of a very funny story from several years back. It's long, so bear with me.

I am the oldest of the six kids in our family, and we used to take long -- and I mean REALLY long trips in the family van about once a year. From Wisconsin to California. (Usually only Nevada, but this story takes place in CA).

Anyway, we were on the expressway outside of I think it was San Diego (though I don't know for sure), but the relevant facts are that I was driving, being in proud posession of a learners permit, and that the very heavy traffic was moving at about 90 miles an hour (I'm not exaggerating at all. Even I was a little scared, and I was 15 and feeling pretty invincible.) So anyway I was driving so that dad could sleep in the back (on these long trips, we wouldn't stop for hotels, but just drive straight through to wherever we were going.) And my mom was in the front seat, and not too surprisingly since we were both talking, we started to get into an argument. It got more and more heated, and eventually mom gets SO pissed off atme that she grabs the nearest thing available, which happens to be a pair of pants sitting on top of the heap of miscellaneous crap between the seats, and chucks it at my head. Yes, at my head. Yes, while I was driving. A van. At 90 mph. In heavy traffic.

I thought I would probably die, so I didn't feel too worried about the consequences of shouting "GOOD GOD WOMAN, DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!!?" as I pulled said pants off of my face, causing dad to wake up to reprimand me. He pretty much agreed that the pants toss was a bad idea though.

That incident is in both top tens for scariest and funniest things that has ever happened to me.

And just for the record, in general both of my parents are great and not at all prone to insane life threatening behavior, and were during that time as well. So since in general she did a really fantastic job with all of us, I don't mind relating the story too much - I have a ton of respect for her. Anyway, that's my story.

Damn...if your mom is so great and fantastic then you must have pissed her off immensely to do something like that. Never underestimate the asshole power of a 15 year old.

I'll takes bets on 47 of the 48 assults being committed by natives.

The town should get a Hero tage for assaulting that many pigs.

So, a drunk woman just sneaks out of her pants and quickly whacks the officer up side the head before he knows what's going on. Riiight. This deserves a dumbass tag for the officers. They probably thought they'd get a free show, and might have even made a lewd comment that resulted in the red mark on the forehead. Methinks they could have stopped a drunk woman from depantsing herself if they were even slightly motivated.
