Christ! I bet he's fun to be around!

"I hate myself..."
"That's fine, I hate you as well."

ROTFL... Sometimes I think Drew posts this crap and sits back and laughs at the inevitable flame war that will follow. As for me, I'll pass... It's Friday and I have an appointment with some Heineken.

these guys should rename themselves idiots.com,have a spam sammich, and call it a day. bunch of morons. leave america, and don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

2002-03-29 03:03:23 PM
This is all so much semantics. Too boring and obvious to give it serious thought. I'll leave it to the flame pundits.

2002-03-29 03:03:47 PM
I second the idea for a flamebait tag. It could look like a little picture of a whining baby or that "arguing on the internet" poster.

2002-03-29 03:04:24 PM
uht-oh ... here we go again! Yet another inspired flamewar!

2002-03-29 03:04:41 PM
Yellowtimes = Newsmax

2002-03-29 03:04:46 PM
Or the JeffK tag, for when we find those sites that Satan himself rules with an iron "LOLOllOOLOL!!!111".

2002-03-29 03:06:04 PM
Before this continues... I'd like to see some people refute this article by means other than--

"These guys are stupid." or "Stupid commies."

Or the inevitable--they should be put in a cage match with NewsMax.

Please please please tell me why this article is wrong.

I'm pretty sure the equal sign means "both ways." So, uh, does this make every math equasion bi?

2002-03-29 03:07:28 PM
yellowtimes.org could be the flamebait tag.

2002-03-29 03:07:30 PM
What's an inverted equation? I thought I understood higher math.

2002-03-29 03:07:57 PM
I didn't read the article either - and thankfully, I'm outta here momentarily.

Lao-Tse said...

"Weapons of war are instruments of fear,
and are abhorred by those who follow the Tao.
The leader who follows the natural way
does not abide them.

The warrior king leans to his right,
from whence there comes his generals' advice,
but the peaceful king looks to his left,
where sits his counsellor of peace.
When he looks to his left, it is a time of peace,
and when to the right, a time for sorrow.

Weapons of war are instruments of fear,
and are not favoured by the wise,
who use them only when there is no choice,
for peace and stillness are dear to their hearts,
and victory causes them no rejoicing.

To rejoice in victory is to delight in killing;
to delight in killing is to have no self-being.

The conduct of war is that of a funeral;
when people are killed, it is a time of mourning.
This is why even victorious battle
should be observed without rejoicing. "

I didn't read the article either. Not bored enough to participate in a flame war today

Naderbot: Because a terrorist is what everyone else is and you're not. The same semantic meandering can be used to say that any number of organizations and countries are terroristic - The PLO, JDL, CIA. Essentially, the article says nothing. It's like a mad lib on terrorism - insert country here.

2002-03-29 03:09:56 PM
Talk about doing a double-take...

I initially read it as Killing for the fag and I thought it was going to be some dumb article about cigarettes.

2002-03-29 03:09:57 PM
And in the end, most people would rather have a Slurpee than go off and whack someone in a godforsaken battlezone. Go Slurpees!

2002-03-29 03:10:32 PM
Fark gasoline. That guy needs a healthy dose of napalm.

Its nice to see another objective story from YellowDiscipline.org.

DEBATE: What is the best non-pay boobies site out there?

Extra points for good web design, points subtracted for pop-ups, etc.

Scale 1-10

Is this a better thing to discuss?

2002-03-29 03:13:21 PM
no, quality is what counts here

2002-03-29 03:13:22 PM
"And best of all, wartime conditions lend themselves to the easy mobilization of xenophobic, politically reactionary, flag-waving patriotism. The kind where a complete and utter absence of popular intelligence is made up for by the cathartic release of long pent-up anger at being forced to live under frustrating conditions in an alienating world with no real hope for any beneficial social change in sight."

This sounds a lot more like the middle east than the US, especially if you change "flag" to "Koran".

2002-03-29 03:13:34 PM
gatortarhell, go to ampland.com. free stuff. good stuff.

2002-03-29 03:15:27 PM
I'm really just trying to get a completely different debate (flame war) going.

Every time we get a crappy post, we talk about boobies.

2002-03-29 03:15:27 PM
NaderBot is right, you guys are just to stupid (or ignorant) to refute anything in this article, so you just flame it...

2002-03-29 03:16:51 PM
NaderBot is a flame program made out of IRC scripts and pie crusts, what's there to be offended with

2002-03-29 03:17:13 PM
Gatortarheel: agreed, these political flame wars are getting a bit tired, the benefit of debating boobies is that although we all may disagree on boobie particulars, at the end of the day, we can all agree on boobies in general

2002-03-29 03:17:20 PM
But the ARTICLE invokes Godwin's Law. Isn't this thread already closed?

2002-03-29 03:17:20 PM
I second Ampland.com and raise you a picpost.com.

2002-03-29 03:17:45 PM
ThreeLittleSmurfs :NaderBot is right, you guys are just to stupid (or ignorant) to refute anything in this article, so you just flame it...

Ditto. Yellowtimes and NewsMax are equally bad, but at least give a reason for WHY you disagree, people. Failure to do so is evidence that you probably can't. "I don't like it, so it just CAN'T be true!!!". Wah.

2002-03-29 03:17:48 PM
ThreeLittleSmurfs: And your valuable contribution to the dialogue has been........?

2002-03-29 03:18:48 PM
Diagenes--Well, then the article is only playing by the Bush administration's rules. Do you think we should stop calling this war the "War on Terrorism" if that word is so overused/abused.

Thanks 3LittleSmurfs. I don't think we're going to see the flames go down though.

2002-03-29 03:18:51 PM

SUCKS

2002-03-29 03:19:13 PM
Diogenes:"Essentially, the article says nothing. It's like a mad lib on terrorism - insert country here." Haha, that's great!

LunaticFringe: Inverted equation is either y=1/f(x) or f(y)=x (ie replace x with y), I can't remember which. I think...

Check yoself, fool.

2002-03-29 03:19:31 PM
Gatortarheel -- the hun

As for the article, despite what you guys think of the author and the site, he makes a few valid points.

Perpetual war serves a number of purposes for the present administration.

It is under wartime conditions that the U.S. government will, at least initially, face the least resistance as it finishes the now over two century-long process of gutting the Bill of Rights and voiding the inconvenient parts of the U.S. Constitution.

It is under conditions of war that the campaign to defeat the anti-globalization movement can be fought with increasingly militant and dirty tactics.

It is under wartime conditions that all opponents of U.S. policies anywhere in the world, including within the U.S. itself, can be most easily labeled "terrorist," at the same time that the mass media can be most easily mobilized as a total propaganda machine.

And it is under conditions of war that the arms production, oil production and military technology corporations that funded President Bush's election by the Supreme Court will be most handsomely rewarded without too many questions ever being asked.

And best of all, wartime conditions lend themselves to the easy mobilization of xenophobic, politically reactionary, flag-waving patriotism. The kind where a complete and utter absence of popular intelligence is made up for by the cathartic release of long pent-up anger at being forced to live under frustrating conditions in an alienating world with no real hope for any beneficial social change in sight.

The point about the media turning into a propaganda machine... Well, if you don't believe the corporate owned media can be swayed into not telling all the truth or telling half truths... Then I have an email from a man in Zimbabwe who needs your help transferring money, that you might be interested in.

2002-03-29 03:19:43 PM

I wonder what Yellowtime thinks about the movie "Panic Room". How would they rate it based on five burning American Flags ?

2002-03-29 03:19:45 PM
Stop it, stop it, think of the boobies

2002-03-29 03:19:58 PM
Typical ultra-left wing hogwash...never let's FACTS get in the way of a good fantasy. Robert Ludlum would have some competition if this guy could write worth a damn.

Most obvious flaw:

This clown's concerned about the erosion of the Bill of Rights, yet he stands for global forces that want to scrap it even faster than our own sellout politicians. Huh?

There will always claims by smug "geniuses" who can see through the "illusions" that somehow completely fool millions of other people. N;GGA PLEEZE!
