Better if he had just been slapped.
2002-03-29 07:55:41 AM
because it "tarnishes the reputation of Lucasfilm and misappropriates our right to make billions more dollars than you'll ever see in your lifetime."
2002-03-29 07:59:12 AM
pick a stupid title, get a stupid lawsuit
2002-03-29 08:02:38 AM
2002-03-29 08:02:38 AM
Now what exactly are the "Starballz" creators sueing for?
2002-03-29 08:05:51 AM
Where can I get a copy of this movie?
2002-03-29 08:06:42 AM
"May the whores be with you"
2002-03-29 08:26:32 AM
"The dispute between the two companies goes back to last August, when Lucasfilm sent MMG a cease-and-desist letter, ordering it to yank "Starballz" because it "tarnishes the reputation of Lucasfilm and misappropriates our valuable assets."

Ummmmmmm....I thought Jar Jar Binks did that....
2002-03-29 08:29:25 AM
Is this the one where Princess Lay-me has a three-some with Han Sooolong and Darth Naked?
2002-03-29 08:43:17 AM
He said "Sperm". heh heh heh heh...

In other news, the producers of "Indiana Bone and the Temple of Poon" are suing Lucas for defamation, since the second Indiana Jones movie sucked so bad and people may think the porn movie will too. But not in a good way. Suck, that is. Okay, yeah, I need some caffeine.
2002-03-29 08:50:54 AM
I'd sue too; that is a very libelous (word?) statement.

"...Lucasfilm spokeswoman Lynne Hale complained publicly that "the law does not allow for parody to be a defense to a pornographic use of someone else's intellectual property, especially when that use is directed to children""

Granted I haven't seen the movie, but it's a porno for God's sake.

Jimmy: "Mommy let's go get a movie. PLEEEEAAASSSE."
Mommy: "I heard Starballz is out."
Jimmy: "What is that?"
Mommy: "It is a adult porno designed for lure children into the underground world of snuff films."
Jimmy: "Sounds awesome!"

Oh yeah, parody DOES allow for someone to "use" your IP (how the hell is Star Wars GL's IP? It's a copyright.). Look at Weird Al, he's been making parodies for years, got sued often, but never lost that I heard of.

Baby Jesus bleeds everytime I hear about Intellectual Property. Please think of the baby Jesus.
2002-03-29 09:01:24 AM
IDGAF: Weird Al always asked for permission to do a parody first. I doubt the makers of "Starballz" did that...It doesn't matter though, you don't need permission to do one (or editorial cartoonists would be out of a job real quick.
2002-03-29 09:02:43 AM
fark Lucas, Yes Furk Lucas up his ass.
2002-03-29 09:13:05 AM
IDGAF: You are, without a doubt, the absolute stupidest creature on the face of the Earth. I hope you receive anal justice from your Daddy. Please do us all a favor and shut the hell up.
2002-03-29 09:33:19 AM
Think of the legal mess if it were named Starballz: Attack of the Fightin Whities
2002-03-29 09:47:39 AM
How can you say temple of doom was the worst indy? Are you on crack? That is by far the finest in film making this far and no I am not being sarcastic. Temple of doom is the only movie I can see over and over and not get sick of it. It is like water, it never gets boring.

I was at Wal-mart today and somebody in the warehouse screwed up. There were six boxes of new SW toys that weren't supposed to out until April sitting out on a pallet. It would have been so easy to grab and have them on ebay right now.

I've always dreamed of making gay-porn ripoffs, like:

A Beautiful Hind
Fisting Jessica Stein
Hairy Bottom and the Sorcerer's Bone
The Lord of the Cockrings
The Count of Monte Crisco
Monstrous Balls
2002-03-29 10:12:00 AM
I hope they get a mint from that money grubbing bastard. It is about time he gets sued for a change.
2002-03-29 10:27:16 AM
He tried this with Battlestar Galactica when it came out because they (Battlestar Galactica) "stole" the idea of a trio group; a renegade hero like hansolo, a straight line hero like luke, and an attractive female character like princess.

Battlestar also "stole" the idea of lazers in space.

Lucas lost that case as well.
2002-03-29 11:10:22 AM
Machine- I think, of the series, temple was the worst. I just didn't like it. Just didn't. Raiders was great, and Last Crusaed was good, Temple just didn't cut it. At least in my book. Besides, I couldn't think of any other titles for Lucas/porn films.

As for Battlestar Galactica (a great show, btw), has anyone else noticed that in an excessive percentage of commercials for TVs and surround sound systems, they use footage from Battlestar Galactica for the simulated picture? I appreciate the homage, just think the choice is odd, at least.

I guess you can't blame Lucasfilms for coming up with their lawsuit in the first place. After all, it's a common North American misconception that cartoons are meant for children, and nothing else. So, it would be logical for them to assume that this particular cartoon was geared towards children in general

But, in the end, so what if George Lucas is a filthy rich person who likes to re-realease Star Wars every 20 years just to make another couple million? That still doesn't alter the fact that the makers of Star Ballz are using this lawsuit as an blatant opportunity for more publicity. Think of the number of people who had never even heard of Star Ballz before the Lucasfilms suit. But now that the old suit is finished, they have stretched their publicity by generating a whole new frivolous suit. I mean, I doubt they're very concerned with their reputations. They do make pornos, after all (and very cheap, low buget ones at that).
2002-03-29 12:19:15 PM
While I agree that Starballz has every right to do this because it's obviously a parody, let me just say...

It sucks big time! It's not remotely funny, ever. It's not remotely erotic, ever. It's not even unintentionally funny. It just plain sucks. Horrible animation. I wasted $15 on this POS last time it was posted on Fark. Don't make the same mistake!

For those who dont know what libel is:

1. A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation.
a.The act of presenting such material to the public.
2. The written claims presented by a plaintiff in an action at admiralty law or to an ecclesiastical court
2002-03-29 12:41:10 PM
What about Spaceballs?
2002-03-29 01:20:44 PM
Shortly after the January decision, Lucasfilm spokeswoman Lynne Hale complained publicly that "the law does not allow for parody to be a defense to a pornographic use of someone else's intellectual property, especially when that use is directed to children" - the quote that led to the lawsuit.

What about all those hentai artists out there on the net? Are they not using parody to lure in children?

*evil grin*

2002-03-29 02:19:04 PM
Shiromori: Don't forget about the REAL hentai. Everyone knows that La Blue Girl is worse than Camel when it comes to marketing towards kids. :)
2002-03-29 02:50:23 PM
Just get Natalie Portman in one, and be done with it.
2002-03-29 02:54:32 PM
Okay , so that Adult film is marketed towards kids. DO YOU THINK THE KIDS WILL BE ABLE TO RENT A pr0n FILM , LUCAS ??!!

Jeebus what a total knob he is.
2002-03-29 03:38:39 PM
Good. After all the ridiculous lawsuits Lucasfilms have given out, it's about time that they get one back. I hope they lose every cent of that $140 million.
2002-03-29 05:48:38 PM
Oh sweet Jeeezus, now I remember why I've stopped Farking. 75% of you are clearly a bunch of retard coonts. I'm left wondering whether most of you have even bothered to read the bloody article.

Bloody swear filters. I of course meant to say [image from too old to be available] and not coonts.

2002-03-29 07:03:29 PM
This is the sequel to 'Sailor Moon and the 7 ballz' or what-
ever the fark it's called, right?

That was some FUNNY-arse pr0n.

Gotta love the anime parodies. ^,^

Oh, and for the record, La Blue Girl is also damned funny...

"da da da"
2002-03-29 07:44:03 PM
I dunno, but if Sailor Moon and the 7 Ballz had any redeeming factors whatsoever then it couldn't possibly be related to this movie. This movie is so bad that if you were to place it next to a thousand gorgeous, naked, swedish supermodels, through the amazing powers of osmosis all the supermodels would become fat skanky white trash bimbos and Starballz wouldn't become the least bit better.

These ads are getting scarier all the time.
2002-03-29 09:28:44 PM
Starballz and Sailor and the 7 Ballz was major crap. I want my bandwidth back, that I used to download them. It is like a giant animated gif, but without the animation.
