Man, that must be a really remote village or something. No pirated movies ever made it into that area.

This reminds me of that Cheech and Chong movie where they went to Japan and all the Japanese people mistook them for Burt Reynolds and Dolly parton and spent the whole movie calling them "Mister Burt" and "Mister Dolly" while they sat around in their hotel room and got stoned to the bejesus bells...

But I digress.

In other news, French mistake Penn Jillette for Osama bin Laden... and promptly surrender.
2002-03-27 12:41:21 PM
Blackbird: That probably has something to do with the fact that they probably don't have electricity either.
2002-03-27 12:42:10 PM

Evil genius plan #205:

1. Go to China.
2. Find remote region.
3. Tell everybody that I'm Michael Jordan.
4. Make them do my bidding.
5. Basically enslave everybody, including all the neighboring villages' kids like in Temple of Doom.
6. Use slave labor build financial and political empire.
7. Take over the world.

Red Fingernail: Penn has several stories regarding that fingernail, but the one I like best is:

"When you're as big and tall as I am, you owe it to the world to be a little effeminate."
2002-03-27 02:32:08 PM
From their web site:

"What is the significance of Penn's one red fingernail (left ring finger)?
There are three common answers to this question.
1) It means he once shot a man for asking personal questions
2) When Penn first began performing, his mother told him to get a manicure because people would be looking at his hands. In response to this, Penn had all of his nails painted red as a joke. The one remaining red fingernail is in honor of his dear mother.
3) The red fingernail provides excellent misdirection and is just plain cool."

Also, this seemed appropriate:

"Wat is a Pen Telar?
This question, asked most often by people from Singapore who visit the #Mofo chat channel, will result in unrestrained laughter from #Mofo regulars."

First, all of you with the Engrish statments seem daft. the Chineese have no problems at all with an "L" sound. Lee, Li, Lung, Lin. etc.......

That is Japaneese. how this got turned to Japaneese i don't know. This wouldn't have happened in Japan anyway since they are more avidly locked into media and the world cultures than most of us are.

As for the fingernail, it was not always red... for many years it was black.

Penn and Teller = pure brilliance~!
2002-03-27 04:38:35 PM
= Pure FAT~!

and why isn't anyone posting on anyway?
2002-03-27 07:16:13 PM
"[The U.S. has] nailed the racial problem if I could look like Michael Jordan."

Uh... since when? Wouldn't that speak on Japan's behalf? I've never thought they were biased at all...
This body is a priceless piece.
