Seems Boston Fans atnt happy unless they have something to complain about

2005-04-08 08:09:37 AM
In other news, Sox fans take themselves way too seriously...

2005-04-08 08:10:45 AM
I saw this movie last month. People should be upset because it's awful.

2005-04-08 08:12:32 AM
I like how it's promoted as being made by the "people who brought you 'There's Something About Mary'" and not the people who also brought us Stuck on You and Shallow Hal. Kind of like "Open Range" was from "the director of Dances With Wolves," and not "the director of The Postman."

Bill Simmons, a Red Sox fan and columnist for ESPN.com, called Hollywood's intrusion into Boston's celebration offensive to all Red Sox fans who had waited their entire lives to see the team win its first championship since 1918.

I'm a Red Sox fan. I am looking forward to seeing the movie. I am not offended. Mr. Simmons: STFU and don't profess that you speak for all Red Sox Fans

/ Duke and Yankees suck

Just proves that if you don't piss someone off, you're not doing your job properly...

Somebody call the Waaaambulance. Get over yourselves already Sox fans (this applies to those Sox fans who have taken umbrage with this particular issue). You won, it's ok to be happy. I know it's been a long time but I figured with the Patriots winning so much lately you guys would have a clue about how to act when your team wins a championship. Anyway, it looks like the Yankees are going to own the Sox this year so at least that'll get you back to biatching about how unfair life is and what a burden it is to be a Sox fan.

2005-04-08 08:20:23 AM
They won, that's all I care about. They can make as many movies about it as they want.

/Yankees will always suck

2005-04-08 08:29:09 AM
The original (with Colin Furth) is a million times better. Had a chance to see a sneak preview last week. Jimmy Fallon has to be one of the most annoying people on the face of the earth

HAHA RANDY JOHNSON, RANDY FARKING JOHNSON

/the Yankees' sweep of the BoSox got misplaced to this season
//would not see this movie because Jimmy Fallon is not funny

well duh. we're new englanders, it's our farking birthright.

Bill Simmons is right. If anyone on the field should be celebrating other than the players it's the real fans. Watching Fallon abd Berrymore in the background running around made me puke. The worst part is, is that this movie was supposed to be about the Sox failure, and then they had to re-write it. If I was the Sox upper-management, I would've told them to go fark themselves from the start and go down to Tampa Bay.

2005-04-08 09:01:50 AM
If you get the chance, read the book. It's quite good, and I can't see a baseball film adaptation living up to it.

2005-04-08 09:03:17 AM
Red Sox are going to become the new Yankees or ManUnited. It doesn't matter that you're not from/don't live in New England, the Red Sox are cool and that's why many people will suddenly be "reborn"

2005-04-08 09:08:38 AM
*** Yawn ***

Sox fans should just be happy that anyone is paying attention to them. They're like the 19 year old starlett who does one movie then complains that the press won't leave them alone. They go from attention whores to "poor me" overnight.

Don't worry, by this time next year you'll be back to the role you're best at: Bridesmaid to the New York Yankees.

Damn straight. New Englanders make complaining an art.

I couldn't care less about this movie one way or the other, btw.

/Go Sox

Yeah, I mean with Mo as your closer there's NO WAY the Sox could ever get past him right?

FYI, if yankees fans didn't act like such arrogant pricks all the time, we wouldn't have to gloat so much about how we beat your ass, IMHO.

/Go Sox
//fark the Yankees
///Bill's Bar opens at 10:00am on Monday, opening day... just as an FYI guys... swing-on by, i'll be workin' the floor, come have a drink and chill-- if you don't have tickets, we'll have the game on the projection screen and runnin through the bar's PA, so it should be a good time!

2005-04-08 09:20:02 AM
Yep. Sox fans liked being losers because it gave them an identity and a bond. Now that they're winners, they're no better than... gasp... Yankee fans.

upcoming movie Fever Pitch?

Oh God, please don't tell me they're remaking it with baseball...

2005-04-08 09:25:50 AM
It looks bad. And by bad I mean really bad. And by really bad I mean god awful. And by god awful I mean yet another Jimmy Fallon movie.

2005-04-08 09:31:03 AM
Its not that we don't want the attention, it is that we don't want some terrible actor in a terrible movie portraying red sox fans. He grew up as a Yankees fan also that makes it worse. They should have left the book alone and not tried to Americanize it.

2005-04-08 09:31:12 AM
Boston fans should not be offended by this movie because of how they portray the Red Sox or anything like that.

There are plenty of other reasons to be offended by this movie, offenses that everyone can relate to.

For example: Jimmy Fallon as the die-hard Red Sox fan... who cares if he grew up a Yankees fan. That shouldn't be offensive. The fact that this talentless twit still has an acting job... that's offensive!

/That's my opinion.
//I'm a Bostonian, and I approve this message

2005-04-08 09:43:05 AM
Baseball sucks. Always has, always will.

2005-04-08 09:43:32 AM
Jimmy Fallon isn't even a baseball fan. All he did to prepare for his role was read Dan Shaughenesey's book. He's a turd and I'm glad people see that he's a turd. I'm betting the guy was in band in high school. And to all you farkers that say the band was okay, well, you must've been in the band, because those are the only people that think the band is cool.

That being said, I'd have to say the Red Sox fans are worse than Yankee fans. They cry and cry and cry about how the Yankees are ruining baseball with their $199.7 million payroll, but I don't see the Sox selling off players like the Royals or Pirates. The bottom line is the Yankees go out and get the talent to compete every year. The Sox let go of Pedro, Cabrera, and Mientfievispaskja (or however you spell that guys name) They simply don't have the pitching, other than Schilling to compete throughout the year this year. So they can go back to complaining and being happy about being losers. I saw a sign from opening day at Yankee stadium that read "1918-2004-2090" That was classic. I'm glad I won't be around to see them win their next series.

And as far as Bill Simmons, he does talk about the Sox too much, but he's still damn funny. Except when he talks about the NBA, noone cares about that Shiatey league.

Look, if the Cubs win the series this year, you can have Ed Asner and Anthony Michael Hall re-enact scenes from "Behind the Green Door" at home plate for all I care as long as the Cubs win the frickin' Series.

I hate Yankees fans and the team, but I'm starting to understand their perpspective on BoSox fans.

2005-04-08 09:50:35 AM
Wow. Jimmy Fallon. Best known for NOT being able to stay in character or make it through a sketch without laughing. What a talent. Any dumbass could get up there and just start laughing every time Horatio Sanz says something. What a no-talent goob.

2005-04-08 09:51:16 AM
Ahh yes, the never ending quest for people to find things to complain about.

2005-04-08 09:53:33 AM
Fallon was funny on SNL when other people wrote his material, but off of it, he just reeks.

I saw his interview with Leno the other day, absolutely terrible. Horrendously unfunny.

2005-04-08 10:02:26 AM
Sox have no more excuses and no curse to lean on

2005-04-08 10:03:17 AM
I'm a Devil Rays fan who watches his team get annihilated by the Red Sox again and again every year, and even I was pissed that Fallon and Barrymore were allowed on the field for that moment.

That said, New Englanders need to let the movie bomb and STFU.

2005-04-08 10:04:14 AM
Some have also taken umbrage at casting Fallon as the Red Sox-obsessed leading man because Fallon supported the New York Yankees, Boston's archrival, growing up.

ah yes. how dare the actor, um, act out an affinity for something or someone they don't in fact hold in real life.

retards.

2005-04-08 10:04:55 AM
Ugh ... don't group me with the "Sox Fans" who feal "soxploited" about the movie.

I love the sox ... always will, and I don't give a flying fark in NYC where they made this film and who it's about. I'm certainly not offended by it.

Baseball is ... entertainment. Movies are ... entertainment. A fictional movie about baseball, being filmed while real-life events are playing out? I think that's pretty cool.

2005-04-08 10:05:25 AM
When the Cubs finally when the WS, I welcome as many movie cameras on the field as they want. As long as my team is celebrating. Thsi is one time I will not agree with Sawks fans.

2005-04-08 10:06:30 AM
This movie looks awful, but I'm biased.

2005-04-08 10:15:25 AM
Ok, so let me just get this clear.

Hollywood takes a soccer movie from 1997 thats based on a book (not Nick Hornbys autobiography, more like partly based on his life) from 1992 and remakes it into a basenall movie in 2005? By the Farelly brothers who had ONE, two at most and three is stretching it, good movies in their entire career?

Yeah, thats gonna be a hit...I mean, the original wasnt even that sucessfull. Hell, I love all of Hornbys work and I stopped reading the book after 30 pages and never even knew about the movie!

God, this just stinks, I wish the Pope was still alive to see this, he would kill all involved...

2005-04-08 10:28:54 AM
For the love of GAWD, can we PLEASE get our sports championships out of New England??? We need to get on the ball and bring all that stuff back down South, starting with the Panthers and the Jaguars in the Superbowl this year!

Sorry nightsweat. Great minds you know!

I have never laughed at anything that no-talent assclown has ever said. He is worse than Fallon.
Americanizing High-Fidelity worked, so I'm willing to give this a chance, but not much of one. I have seen good movies with bad actors before.

2005-04-08 10:35:39 AM
starting with the Panthers and the Jaguars in the Superbowl this year!

Come on now, we can come up with a much better halftime show than that, cant we??

/4 Super Bowls in 5 years sounds good to me

You can't expect to repeat when you lose your OC and DC in the same year. That's huge...

2005-04-08 10:37:45 AM
Last year I'd have said: "Jimmy Fallon will make a good movie when the Red Sox win the World Series."

I would have been wrong.

Why the F*RK is this approved, but not one link on Tom Delay's PAC's $500,000 payments to his wife and kid? Why did even The Daily Show only have Pope stuff and Drew Barrymore discussing this movie, and not one word in the last couple of days on DeLay and his ethics? Who cares about this movie before it has even been shown anywhere?

2005-04-08 10:43:50 AM
sorry NCg8r,,,

We are keeping the NFL and MLB championships up here!!!

You guys can have the Nba, Nhl, and Wnba championships down there.. Hell you can even get the MLS, AFl, and WSP too.
