That's a lot of UFIAs. Someone ain't gonna shiat right for a week.

2005-04-05 01:41:11 AM
Finally a naming deal that makes sense. At least Gibson can support the concerts put there.

2005-04-05 01:42:24 AM
I guess this joke will never get old.

2005-04-05 01:42:40 AM
For once, I would like to see an arena/stadium named after something that the local people can take pride in. Not some shameless commercial plug.

2005-04-05 01:43:45 AM
I was a little worried that Mel Gibson was buying the naming rights. I would refused to see concerts at the "Jebus Chainsaw Massacre" amphitheater.

2005-04-05 01:48:43 AM
Maybe I've been away for a while.... but what's with "UFIA"?

2005-04-05 01:48:53 AM
We can only hope that companies like Tampax don't get this ambitious.

2005-04-05 01:50:31 AM
hmm...I think any article with UFIA in the headline will get greenlighted.

Prod_Deity

UFIA = unsolicited finger in anus ... cliche that sprout up here awhile ago

2005-04-05 01:51:08 AM
I'm just glad some telecommunications company didn't buy the rights. Like MaddCutty said, this makes sense.

Gibson makes nice guitars. If you want to play it, you'd have to pry my '69 SJN out of my cold dead hands.

2005-04-05 01:51:45 AM
Ah, so that's what they're doing with all the fat profits from overpriced guitars.

/SGs rule
//SGs are waaay too expensive...

FARK is becoming a dirty filthy spoof mag. i want my 10 cents back

It's all fun and games until the limpin' gimp Gibson is envoked.

Then, I just sit here and weep.

2005-04-05 02:04:16 AM
This "UFIA" craze gives me a headache

2005-04-05 02:05:30 AM
I've always been a fan of their BluesHawks, a pretty wide range of tones on those babys. Still, i love my telecaster.

2005-04-05 02:06:30 AM
Ted McCarty Stadium?

2005-04-05 02:07:00 AM
Gotta love this, between Les Pauls, Firebirds, Explorers, ES-335's and Flying V's have some of the best guitars made. Plus not like they'll have to pimp their product with the concert acts, a ton already play Gibsons.

Hmm now will Fender follow suit? I'd love to see Marshall Stack Arena or Mesa Boogie Ampitheater.

2005-04-05 02:13:02 AM
agreed on the UFIA, way overused.

~ignores the fact that is was my first green lighted submission~~

:)

Gibson: Overpriced, but at least they have crappy pickups.

Like so many other jokes on Fark, or for that matter, in life, no.

Well said...

DrLearned and pray tell, what do you recommend?

2005-04-05 02:33:30 AM
I love my 76 goldtop deluxe and I only miss one of the other 4 I sold. Now if I can just find a Byrdland that won't cost more than my car.

2005-04-05 02:34:35 AM
This joke just isnt that funny.

Leonid - I guess this joke will never get old.

Well it certainly can't get any older.

MasterShakezula:

How about "Wrigley Field"

2005-04-05 02:49:29 AM
At least I'm not the only one who immediately thought "Mel" Gibson. And I'm a guitarist.

2005-04-05 02:51:38 AM
Actually Wrigley gets a pass, since it was named after a man as much as a company. Was William Wrigley founder of the gum company who had it built while owner of the Chicago Cubs. And he didn't treat the stadium as a marketing pimp for his gum. The team and stadium now belong to the Tribune Corp, which knows it would risk have its execs lynched if they so much as hinted they might change the name of Wrigley Field.

Now to wait a couple weeks and go see a game at Wrigley, live just a couple miles away. Just hop on the bus and I'm there. Ahh sweet bliss of spring.

2005-04-05 02:53:18 AM
stig ditto, I thought the same thing "wha, Mel Gibson is buying the naming right's? errr", and I play guitar too. Though if it was Mel, perhaps he could name it Thunderdome.

Get the Epiphone equivalent and swap the pickups out for Fralins or higher end Duncans

2005-04-05 03:15:25 AM
Whatever did happen with the Fleetcenter anyway? What did Fark name it?

2005-04-05 03:32:01 AM
Ah seeing as I already have the guitars, Les Paul, Les Paul Jr, Explorer, not about to get Epiphones, plus you do realize that Gibsons do come with more than one choice of pick ups right? Not that pickups are the only thing that matter.

2005-04-05 03:34:40 AM
I'm still waiting for the Danelectro Ampitheater.

Uhhh, moran, the Universal Ampitheatre is in Los Angeles, so THIS picture is more appropriate:

/Still will call it Universal Ampitheatre
/Why not Fender? They're based in California.

2005-04-05 03:41:31 AM
Seriously, this is VERY LAME. Shameful too, since the Universal Ampitheatre is one of the best live concert venues from an acoustical standpoint.

WHY are they going for naming rights? Isn't the UNIVERSAL name a naming right in itself?

2005-04-05 03:45:23 AM
I'dve thought the whores at Guitar Center would've slapped their corporate bat signal on a venue before Gibson did. Of course, with all the free time created by not coming up with anything new in the last thirty years, Gibson execs were probably bored.

/Still prefers Strats and Teles
//PRS makes better use of McCarty's work than Gibson does

Post what you want, but Gibby didn't hit one of the greatest plays in baseball in a Tiger uniform.

Debbie is the only Gibson worth discussing.

ohh Flying V headstock, though wouldn't it be better as something besides a suppository? You know something for the other point of entry a few inches fore of where it's headed.

Other than the 13 pilot schools, over 60 other primary schools who were eager to make use of IT in their teaching also joined the UFIA scheme in November 1999 and shared the work developed in the UFIA project.

UFIA consists of 2 main parts

In January 1999, teachers from the pilot schools underwent IT training provided by UFIA

and the best:
Parents can also benefit from the UFIA

This shiat makes me crack up
