Well I'm amused, for one.

2005-04-04 01:39:14 AM
That looks like the amusement park from an episode of CSI...

Another parent: "My kids will not go to Bell's as long as Bell's is open. They will not go, unless I'm with them, and I've got to be with them."

Must be from out of town. Tulsa natives rarely make that much sense.

And while I'm ripping on Tulsa, Bell's Amusement Park is only amusing in a "point and laugh" sort of way.

Chances are your kid is a dumbass. Don't be offended if people react accordingly. Props for the non-discriminatory beat down.

" They will not go, unless I'm with them, and I've got to be with them."

Kinda hard to process all that info in the article,,, but if kids wanna riot,,, then props to the cops for gassing them.

2005-04-04 04:48:23 AM
Jeez, the pope's only been dead a day and things are goin' to hell already.

2005-04-04 04:51:07 AM
Spectrum, are/were you from Tulsa?

2005-04-04 04:54:42 AM
I think the article could use a few more details. Like how you go from a bunch of kids running around to busting out the teargas.

2005-04-04 04:57:09 AM
Well, what do you expect in the only park in the world where even the ROLLERCOASTER has a 10 pm curfew?

2005-04-04 05:03:28 AM
My favorite ride is the Wheel of Fish.

/filmed in Tulsa

I saw plenty of brawls break out during my tenure at an amusement park. People will fight over anything. Seat on a rollercoaster, jumping in line, cold burger, you name it.

2005-04-04 05:07:29 AM
this is like those times on WWE shows where there's 7 cops coming out to arrest one wrestler.

2005-04-04 05:10:50 AM
Theres no farkin way your getting to get on that rollercoaster again, i will hurt you if i have to.

2005-04-04 05:19:04 AM

agree with nameless pete!

2005-04-04 06:16:18 AM
well bitach, maybe you should teach your kid some farking manners and respect and maybe he wont get in to this kinda clusterfark in the first place.

dumb coont.

the amusement park isnt a place to drop off your kids and expect them to be babysitted.

.........just like the movie theatre, elementary school, go-kart track, etc.

Nightmaretony:

Well, what do you expect in the only park in the world where even the ROLLERCOASTER has a 10 pm curfew?

That was because of a court order, I believe. People that live near the place were complaining about the noise.

Zingo (their roller coaster) sucks anyway. It's what, ~70 feet tall?

2005-04-04 06:42:40 AM
Ugh, Bells is getting worse and worse every year. Which really sucks, because it used to be a blast when I was a kid. Now, between the people dying on the decrepit rides and the part time carnies running the rides, the only "amusement" part about it are the ghetto fabulous jackasses limping around hitting on the Jr. high kids.

Hell, even the state fair looks like a half assed good idea compared to going to Bells. And don't worry nameless pete, you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a few felons in there. I'm sure it's standerd procedure to teargas first, as that would probably add to the fun at Bells.

But what do I know, Tulsa natives dont make no dern cents.

/near Tulsa

2005-04-04 07:39:04 AM
I don't know why people would want to fight in an amusement park...

...it just leaves me in a bemused state... or, rather, a BEMUSEMENT PARK! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

/Just sayin'...

"Another parent: "My kids will not go to Bell's as long as Bell's is open. They will not go, unless I'm with them, and I've got to be with them."

Well, no shiete! Parents actually taking responsibility?! That can't be!

We went to Darian Lake last summer and the same thing happened at the end of the night. One guy made an interesting observation that you just don't see this type of thing happen at Canada's Wonderland.

Oh Clark...

2005-04-04 04:54:42 AM Nameless Pete

It's easy to figure out. They were probably minority children. Hence the beatdown was probably not "indiscriminatory" as mentioned elsewhere.

But then again, I could be wrong - we shall wait for the kids lawyers to pop up.

2005-04-04 08:44:50 AM
I'm sure this was hip-hop realted.

2005-04-04 08:54:34 AM
My favorite quote:

Parent: "Tulsa Police I love them dearly, but they should pick the people doing the wrong, not innocent people."

Whenever I see this I KNOW that the spawn of said moron was one of the worst offenders.

"My kid's an ANGEL officah, he don't do NO wrong!"

Yeah right...

2005-04-04 09:01:05 AM
Jebus I live near there and you'd thought the local Krispy Kreme was burning down.

/Dern kids and their Rock &/or Roll
//seriously Bell's has went way down hill.

2005-04-04 09:53:20 AM
Wasn't this an Onion article?

2005-04-04 09:57:46 AM

We wasn't doin' nothin!

2005-04-04 09:58:36 AM
When I was growing up, 3 decades ago, Bell's was going downhill! I can't imagine how far it's gone.

And,

AntiNorm: Zingo (their roller coaster) sucks anyway. It's what, ~70 feet tall?

What Zingo lacked in height, it always made up in an "OMG, this thing may collapse" kinda feeling.

2005-04-04 10:26:05 AM

Wanted for questioning

2005-04-04 11:15:50 AM
When I was younger, it was kinda fun. Now that I am older & work at the Juvenile Det Ctr her in Tulsa County, I find it's just a bad kiddie cesspool.

2005-04-04 11:50:48 AM
Bells is to amusement as etch-a-sketch is to art.

2005-04-04 12:05:37 PM
Bah...get back to me when you get in the realm of Six Flag Magic Mountain's annual Banger Summer Beatdown. So far about 6 years running with some top of the news hour about gang brawls involving 200 something guys and having to clear out the park.

So far, at least 3 deaths.

2005-04-04 12:17:20 PM
InflatableJesue - Hey, is that the same guy who played Long Duc Dong in Sixteen Candles?

Another parent: "My kids will not go to Bell's as long as Bell's is open. They will not go, unless I'm with them, and I've got to be with them."

So they'll go when it's closed?

bigjoel: We wasn't doin' nothin

Now that's a refrance, good flick if your into brainless stuff.

2005-04-04 02:26:45 PM
Refrance? No thank you. I had enough France the first time.

2005-04-04 03:21:21 PM
Not surprising...have you ever been to a small scale amusement park? it's like a white trash convention.

2005-04-04 06:49:56 PM
what, no tasers?

2005-04-04 08:16:09 PM
How 50's.

2005-04-04 08:28:39 PM

2005-04-04 09:21:46 PM
Heh. Either it was a spectacularly good fight, or they were spectacularly bad cops who arrived to try to stop it.

Still makes me chuckle either way though.
