And I loved every minute of it.
2005-04-01 10:24:29 PM
Cut & pasted a minute before me!
2005-04-01 10:26:36 PM
OBB IMed me with a favorable review of it earlier.

Now I want to see it.
2005-04-01 10:27:09 PM

murder, revenge, corruption...strong Romantic philosophy that pits the individual against an evil society...gory, bloody violence... woman lashed...people punched...heavy governmental corruption, heavy corruption in the Catholic Church... revenge, and kidnapping.

Hm. Sounds like "Passion of the Christ" a little bit, don't it though?
2005-04-01 11:12:34 PM

Shhh. Stop asking silly questions. Abortion and gay marriage bad. Evolution is a newfangled, incorrect theory. God is watching.
2005-04-01 11:25:09 PM
I can't wait to see it.
2005-04-01 11:28:32 PM

2005-04-01 11:34:49 PM
enecks: em might see this if for no other reason than alexis bledel.

Uf ewe like the thought of a Gilmore Girl in skintight pants and stilletos, sure. But the boobies of Jamie King and Carla Gugino steal the show.

2005-04-01 11:35:55 PM
great movie.

freaking incredible. see it twice.

"AaAaAaAaAaAaA! I'm open for interpretation."
2005-04-01 11:51:19 PM
Mmmmmmm, Devon Aoki. Sooooo hot.

[image from too old to be available]

Seriously though, the movie looks great. Can' wait to see it, hopefully tomorrow.
2005-04-02 12:00:27 AM
Jesus wept.

(note to CGI, at this point I want an extreme artistic wash of aqua to come out of Jesus "Mr. Roarkes" gin-soaked pie-hole.
2005-04-02 12:09:05 AM
Just got back from Sin City and I can declare that it was awesome.
2005-04-02 12:13:38 AM
I've heard the "visually stunning, with a mediocre plotline" thing from quite a few people.
2005-04-02 12:14:12 AM
Prospero424: Mmmmmmm, Devon Aoki. Sooooo hot.

She looks like a lion.
2005-04-02 12:19:43 AM
That visually stunning, with a mediocre plotline happens to be my wife!

/I think it may actually be leaving my system
//bear with me folks, this is actual progress
2005-04-02 12:22:56 AM
G_Fish: She looks like a lion.

A sexy, sexy lion. :)
2005-04-02 12:41:58 AM
To this "reviewer's" credit, he did give it three stars, and gave considerable praise to the stylistic elements of the film. He's just saying that good Bible-toting Christians ought to stay away from it. Can't say I blame the guy.

/agnostic, seeing it tomorrow
2005-04-02 01:04:32 AM
Just saw it also. Loved it. Just as much gore as the review states, but it's all fun and games. Go in happy, leave happy, it's funny.
2005-04-02 01:11:36 AM
I find it odd that so many people are reading this sentence, right now, and not watching Sin City.
2005-04-02 03:07:06 PM
The movie is intense, bloody and gory in every way possible.

In other words, awesome.

Devon Aoki is the best character, IMO.
2005-04-02 03:07:07 PM
Why did Fark stop linking to CAP Alert?
2005-04-02 03:08:49 PM
That review is hilarious. He basically praises it, and then says "But remember, all of this stuff is BAD in the eyes of God, so stay away from this movie!"
2005-04-02 03:09:39 PM
Damn, sounds like I have to get out and see this one. Nothing like a good 'piss off the religious right' type movie to make the day go by. :)

BTW, does Jessica Alba get nekked?
2005-04-02 03:10:11 PM
Come on, the dog eats him while he's still alive and that's what makes it fun! (in the comic) (need to wait for stupid husband to get home to see the movie)

I've heard the "visually stunning, with a mediocre plotline" thing from quite a few people.

I've heard the "visually stunning, with a mediocre plotline" thing about something like 99% of all movies for the past 5 years. . .

to Shut up. If I wanted to hear from an asshole, I would have farted.
2005-04-02 03:11:07 PM
Damn, I really wish CAP would get off of their asses and write the full commentary for the film. I can't wait to see what they have to say.

The movie itself is unbelievable. Its the single truest graphic-novel-to-film translation EVER, its one of the most beautifuly gory movies I've ever seen, and its full of evil farking Hobbitses.

Let me make this simple for you...go see this movie, or I'll beat the crap out of your mom.
2005-04-02 03:11:24 PM
in memory of the pope passing, i think i might go see this tonight.
2005-04-02 03:12:13 PM
Prospero424: Mmmmmmm, Devon Aoki. Sooooo hot.

Is she the bartender chick from LAX?
2005-04-02 03:13:03 PM
From Cap.

"name calling with "fool" [Matt. 5:22] "

I was gonna go...maybe not now....ummm...blaspheemers
2005-04-02 03:14:06 PM
I saw Sin City last night and I thoroughly enjoyed every last gory minute of it.
2005-04-02 03:14:14 PM
i saw it, who wants to touch me?
2005-04-02 03:17:10 PM
i saw it, who wants to touch me?

i do! i do!
but only in an impure manner.
2005-04-02 03:17:30 PM
Perhaps you are mostly blind, but probably an idiot

That CAPALERT website is atrociously difficult to read. I couldn't even get through it enough to decide if I was outraged or amused or what.
2005-04-02 03:18:26 PM
I'll be throwing down another $7.00 to see it again today.
2005-04-02 03:18:35 PM
This movie was stylistically beautiful, had an interesting and complex plot, and kept my attention every second.

That said, I must warn anyone who doesn't enjoy violence to think twice about seeing this movie. We're not talking kill bill levels here, I'd say this is about ten times worse. It was *all the talk* and action towards raping a small child that really did it in for me. This movie was a million miles over my personal line, which is a shame, because it's awesome in a lot of ways.
2005-04-02 03:19:03 PM
Whatthefark: BTW, does Jessica Alba get nekked?

Sadly, no. I read somewhere where she said that toplessness would "distract" her and that going bottomless would would freak out her dad. Honey, you played a stripper! Sigh...

Carla Gugino is hot though. One kick ass movie all around.
2005-04-02 03:19:24 PM
Oh man, I thought I wanted to see the movie before, now I can't wait!
2005-04-02 03:20:04 PM
unfortunately, jessica alba doesn't get naked, and never will get naked in a movie- or so she claimed.

Something bout not wanting to be seen by her future husband and children....

however she does do a lot of seductive dancing, and looks as hot as ever.
2005-04-02 03:22:40 PM
Great movie! Not for everyone though.

Prospero424 All the babes in that movie and you pick Devon Aoki?

Jessica Alba, Brittany Murphy,...

Oooh, I wanna see it again.
2005-04-02 03:23:05 PM
and one more thing, i am a christian (in a loose sense of the word meaning i believe in Jesus), and i thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this movie. a complete and beautiful representation of humanity, negative and positive elements both. people are twisted, evil, and generally unpleasant, but that doesn't mean they aren't capable of doing great things for great causes. that said, i wouldn't watch it with my mom, but it is still very worth watching.
2005-04-02 03:23:06 PM
OK, I thought this review was in dire need of some spoiler warnings. Now I know two priests are gonna die.
2005-04-02 03:24:43 PM
The Bible tells us that we are all part of the body of Christ and, by extension that we should exist in communities.

Why do all Christians believe that everyone else should be Christians? The reviewer is more than likely a hypocrite (meaning that he secretly enjoyed every minute of the movie).
2005-04-02 03:25:34 PM
Yeah, awesome look, but so gory I just got bored after a while.
2005-04-02 03:26:21 PM
Does anyone know where I can get that music from the trailer?
2005-04-02 03:26:56 PM
I'm not a big comic book fan, so when a comic-book reading friend of mine took me to see this movie I wasn't blown away like most of the comic-book people are.

It was entertaining, if a bit tedious.

That said, I'd like to see Bruce Willis pull the pee-pees off the people who run

Farking Christians.

(And "genitalia" is plural, Christian Farkwads...)
