The cookie's numbers are as likely as any, assuming the lottery is honest.

I'd suggest buying one (or two if you can afford it, with a different number) with the same numbers every week. Your odds are as good as if you keeep changing the numbers, but you're more likely to know the numbers when you see the winning numbers on TV.

/Doesn't actually play the lottery.

Here's a strange one ... openin' FARK, I was just directed to an admin panel that showed me logged on as Drew. It appeared to be the admin panel to greenlight articles and append "Duke sucks" and "Jailarity ensues" quips to random headlines. Soooooo ... Drew is the instigator of those irritatin' comments, huh?

I should eat Chinese more often....

It's kind of like those Snickers commercials, the ones where committing some sort of simple mundane action enables you to go to the Super Bowl, or become the King of Nigeria or something.

I woke up this morning, and my date for the evening (who hates Chinese food) called and cancelled because her friend's mother died, I wasn't originally going to go to the Chinese restauraunt because it is ten miles from town, but my buddy needed a ride to work, and I didn't have my date anyway, so I decided to give him a ride. On my way back, I noticed a brand new Chinese establishment, so I dceided to give it a try. I went in and got a fortune cookie, and for some reason, upon reaching to pay the check dropped it in my wallet. Later on, I was at the grocery store, and even though i don't usually buy lottery tickets, I did becuase I had over $1 in change. I didn't know what numbers I should pick, but I looked in my wallet to get the change and there was that fortune, it must be fate, because I didn't put it there! I played the numbers and won.

Moral: Get stood up, win the lottery.

I wonder if this is actually one of their stories, it is feasible, no?

This was bound to happen some time. They way they make those fortune cookie slips is to print up pages of stuff, then cut it into slips. The backs are made just like the fronts... they print up a bunch with the same text on them. So you could easily have hundreds or thousands of fortune cookies with the same number.

With 110 people winning this way, imagine how many fortune cookies must have gotten printed with this set of numbers on them. It could easily be 10,000. And for each of those 10,000, there are a couple dozen more numbers of which there are 10,000 each.

This is why a "quick pick" is a good idea. When you pick "favorite" numbers, you increase the chance of someone else having the same favorite number. Using birthdays increases the chance even more, since you're limiting yourself to numbers in the range of 1-12 and 1-31.

Of course, an even better idea is not to play at all. The expected payback most of the time is 50% or less. About the only thing you can do to improve this is to only play when there is a large lotto jackpot, but then there are also more people playing the lotto, which can decrease your potential payback a bit.

Good quote, remindth me of War Gameth, "The only winning move ith not to play. Fabuluth!"

I'd thay why that ith relevant in the movie, but to do tho I would have to ekthplain the movie and give away the ending. Like, ooh.

Either way, I mothtly agree with that, but, I doubt if quick pick would deliberately pick numberth that have not yet been chothen. Let me tell you... Thith ith becauthe the thtate will retheive 50% of the lottery protheedth either way, therefore, the longer it takezth for thomeone to win a grand prizthe, the higher thaid prizthe goezth up, the more ticketth that are thold, the more money for the thtates. Mmmh.

My mother once got a fortune cookie with no fortune in it.

The rest of us at the dinner table had a lot of fun with that, saying that it was some sort of omen. We actually had her a little freaked out, which made it funnier.
2005-04-01 09:55:52 AM
Good quote, reminds me of Engagement Games, "The only winning move is unto play."

I'd say why that is relevant in the prolefeed, but to do so, I would have to explain the prolefeed and give away the ending.

Either way, I mostwise agree with that, but, I doubt if quick pick would deliberatewise pick numbers that have not yet been chosen. This is because the state will receive 50 of the lottery proceeds either way, therefore, the longer it takes for someone to win a grand prize, the higher said prize goes up, the more tickets that are sold, the more prolefeed for the states.

It had better not dick with my post again!

Hail Big Brother!

I am awsome at lotteries. I win a dollar everything I think about playing. I don't even have to get the ticket. I just put the money directly into my pocket.
2005-04-01 10:10:27 AM
I won $10 once using the #'s from a fortune cookie.
