Knew this old guy in scouts that used to be a little too touchy. I once had to study for a merit badge with him. Freaked me the hell out when he pulled out a scrap book with pictures of kids flexing without their shirts.

All the wires have been carrying it, CNN had a "breaking news" thing. Which is funny because so far they haven't linked it to Terri or Michael.

jarrett Good point, it's never been proven that pedophiles are gay, or vice versa. It's a control issue, not a gender issue (it's also a being seriously farked up in the head issue).

All this Scout-bashing and Christian-bashing is sickening. Scouting is a great program for the millions of kids in it. And like anything with millions of members, it has a few bad apples. Some hear love to use them as an excuse to smear the whole organization.

There is something grotesque about how some people get so much enjoyment about the personal tragedies of others. I seem to recall something Vincent Foster said about ruining people as a national sport. That's doubly so when the person being publicly flayed aspired to lofty ideals.

Yeah, we all fall short. But let he without sin cast the first stone.

Always found scouts a lil creepy. Unchaperoned weekend day trips w/ some 40 year old guy in shorts and a neckerchief. Don't know how people didn't see this before hand.

It's a great program if you want to be associated with an outdated ideology that discriminates against gays and atheists. Personally I don't want my kids to be taught those kinds of "values." It's really a shame that the Boy Scouts has remained a bastion of regressive fundemantalism while the Girl Scouts has become a progressive and inclusive organization that teaches girls how to live in today's world, not some unrealistic nostalgic notion of what the world was like half a century ago.
