(Daily Tarheel)   Remember the nice cafeteria lady who would let you in even when you didn't have your student ID card? Apparently, that's a crime, and it's called "felony embezzlement of food"   (dailytarheel.com) divider line 15

Dowdy was interviewed March 2 concerning the felony allegations. Reports state that she allowed students she befriended to eat for free, while her job requires her to charge all people who eat at Lenoir.

I bet she will have to cough up the food money to pay for this.

I wonder how many dollars have to be involved for it to be a felony? That could be a lot of free luches.

Screw Lenoir. She shouldn't have let people through for free (no matter how overpriced it is--and it is overpriced).

Anyone wanna swipe me a meal at the new dining hall?

Is it wrong to think the penalty should be very lenient if the kids she let eat free were kinda poor? This isn't CDs or video games, it's food, and being hungry really sucks.

There's a big difference between, "Oops, I forgot my card, can I pay you tomorrow?" and "Can you hook me up?" These charges seem justified to me. She must have been doing this for a lot of people to warrant felony charges.
