people outside the US hate the US

what else is new?
2005-03-28 02:07:41 AM
In all my years of playing soccer, I can count on one hand the number of Mexicans (not Mexican-Americans) that have even an inkling of what Sportsmanship is.

That said...Mexico spanked the USA today. We were lucky to come out of there with the 2-1 loss. It could have easily been 5-1. The USA stunk up the place. The Mexicans played very good soccer today.

All ready to head over the border

I am about as liberal as they come, but tell me again why we haven't built a wall over our southern border?
2005-03-28 02:09:43 AM
They hate us.

How very strange and awful.

The crowd at that game totally represents what Mexico as a nation must stand for, right? Everyone here comfortable with being represented by Oakland Raiders fans?

the Southern Dandy
I'll admit we were outplayed, but I can only echo your sentiments about our south of the border neighbors.

Playing 14 years of soccer in Southern California (sometimes playing on fields where I could see across the border, sometimes against 'Police Athletic League' teams compromised of juvenile delinquents, etc.), I have honestly never seen a mexican take defeat well, nor be an asshole after a win.

elchip, the price of fruit may be lower, but I think its well worth it to cut off illegal immigration. I can't wait until Turkey becomes a member of the EU and millions of Turks start streaming across the border into Europe. I think they'll ditch their attitude towards immigration real quick. The funniest part about European politics though is that almost every single last anti-immigration guy is also a facist. Course the main anti-immigration advocate here in the US, Pat Buchanan, is also a facist.

As an American who has lived in several different countries, this is not uncommon. Expect it. If you can't take it, don't leave the country. Some countries are worse than others, and ones you wouldn't expect. I dealt with more hostility in Britain than I did in China.

It doesn't help the fact that Americans tourists are generally arrogant jerks.
2005-03-28 02:13:44 AM
consdubya, do Indonesian soccer players taunt you Aussies about Bali?
2005-03-28 02:14:47 AM
Dicky the string boy
Not a very good comparison...

A better comparison would be if the Raiders had the NFL Europe team from Spain (Barcelona?) come in and start chanting 'Madrid' after every touchdown they scored.

"They steal lie cheat break our laws and blame us for their failures. "

Be on the look out for this man:

That said, stop being so sensitive. This is a sporting event. Not an international symposia. They were trying to get into the player's heads, and tweak the other guys. Don't ya think Norman Conquests get brought up when Britian and France have a soccer game? Don't ya think it's just as hot when Korea and Japan do? Common - get over it.
2005-03-28 02:16:00 AM
I wonder what type of insults the Germans get during their soccer games. I guess they're probably used to shouts of Seig Heil or taunts of being Nazis so you'd have to be more original than that.

There was some booing and whistling during "The Star-Spangled Banner" but the Americans expected worse. After the game, about 100 people gathered for a peaceful celebration near Mexico City's Angel of Independence monument. A few first tried to burn, then trampled a small American flag while chanting "Osama! Osama!"

Fark 'em.

The only thing that keeps them alive is their fans in their stadium. I hope the US draws them in the WC -- see how good they are on neutral territory.

That said, Germany's going to be the team to beat. At home, no less.
2005-03-28 02:21:02 AM
Let's pound some good ol' American-style patriotism (the ONLY kind of patriotism) into them godless bastards!
2005-03-28 02:21:08 AM
dear everyone,

It's a game. Mexicans don't want Osama to blow up the US, nor do they hate our country. Remember high school pep rallies, when your school's mascot would beat the crap out of some guy dressed as the rival school's mascot, etc? Same thing, on a national level. Yeah it's kinda dumb, but so are Yankee-hating sox fans (i'm from boston, and a sox fan). In the end, it's nothing to write home about.

When monkeys take flight 11A out of my anus, Fox will post a story about the global nature of soccer and its ability to unite people across cultural and national boundaries.

It was a good game though, despite too much Mexican diving and whining in the first half. watched it with a contingent of soccer fans at a bar... yes, US soccer fans. we exist!

Oh, now I feel privileged. According to his profile, Consdubya only hates half of us Americans. Thanks for stating your position on the issue of "America Hate" consdubya. I don't hate any Australians because I don't know any of them or the major political parties there. I imagine there are probably a lot of ignorant pricks living over there too, but I'm going to have to leave it up to you to hate their guts because I've got my hands full over here.

You know its funny, I probably hate about half of the Americans I meet too, but political beliefs usually don't enter into it.
2005-03-28 02:22:25 AM
Their punishment should be to live in a third world country, full of corruption and open sewers.

2005-03-28 02:23:14 AM
I actually saw the game. Nohing like that happened.
2005-03-28 02:24:17 AM
catdrchris wins.

2005-03-28 02:24:47 AM
I saw the game today and I failed to hear the Osama chants, I did however hear the booing during the national anthem. Its all part of the game. Futbol is a very passionate sport and a mark of national pride to just about every country but the US. I have been to quite a few soccer games myself and let me tell you the fans go apeshiat. Fights are very, very common in the stands.

Mexicans are looked down upon by Americans not only in the states but in Mexico as well. The guy that cuts your lawn or picks your fruit knows that he is not as educated, or as wealthy or as American as you and never will be, so what do Poncho, Esmeralda and Chewie have to feel empowered about... their national soccer team the beautiful Tri-colors beating the team of thier overseers. Insignificant to most Americans, a matter of joy and exaltation to Mexicans and Mexican Americans.

Mexico is a third world country, US is the worlds lone superpower. Envy, Jealousy, bitterness...(Texas Annexation, Mexican American War, Pride). Lots of Mexicans are still pissed about this stuff even though it happened in the past. My pops is from Mexico came here illegally over twenty years ago. Started out picking fruits in the Salinas valley now he is a mechanical engineer for a Brewery. Makes bank. The American Dream is still alive in the dreams of immigrants just as it always has been.

/superlong but oh well screw it
2005-03-28 02:25:13 AM
wow... americans dispised outside of america.
hey... guess what?! it ain't just the mexicans.

/has nothing against americans what so ever
//understands why the majority of the rest of the world does
///hopes eventually, the americans will as well
2005-03-28 02:25:23 AM
Don't forget that mexicans not only work in produce, but also do a lot of manufacturing. I used to work for an auto supplier that used 99% mexican labor to build parts. They'd work longer, faster, harder, not take health benefits, and biatch less than their US counterparts. The owner made millions in a couple of years. The auto companies passed that savings onto the consumer. Riiiight.
2005-03-28 02:26:07 AM
Fark that! They insult us, then sneak over our border and demand handouts?!?! I'm thinking we need to put up walls/troops/rabid pitbulls with rattlesnake collars/landmines on the U.S. Mexico border.

To those who sympathize and use the excuse, "Well agriculture will suffer! Prices will go through the roof!" B.S.
It would cost less to outfit the farmers with machinery that can do the job of 100 illegals than it is to keep the illegals here. Once we take away the main reason for them to come over and their numbers will drop.

Illegal immigration is one of the largest and most costly problems facing our country right now. We need to make drastic changes to our immigration laws.

Thank Goodness!!!

Mexico has more oil than Iraq.

And it will be a helluva lot cheaper to invade and occupy them, because they're right next-door. Screw this $80 bln/yr crap.
2005-03-28 02:28:25 AM
It could have always been worse:

Angry Mali fans riot, force suspension of game

"Fans blocked a main road with flaming tires and smashed car windows after they invaded the field. Police fired tear gas as protesters descended on the capital's main African Unity Avenue and screamed about the play of Mali's top players.

'Give us Frederic Kanoute and Mamadou Bakayoko!' they demanded. 'We're going to kill them!'"

"Thousands of fans, joined by residents who were not at the match, marched to the city center, setting up barricades of burning tires and throwing rocks and stones at traffic lights, billboards and vehicles. The window of Bamako's biggest bakery, the Patisserie Almandine, was smashed and the store was looted."
2005-03-28 02:29:51 AM
Meanwhile English football fans are sheepishly looking up and whistling...

Bah. We have to lockup the border more for security reasons, thats it. Sure, I'm all for more ins agents and easier ways to get folks in legally but the dam has broken and the issue can't just be ignored anymore.
2005-03-28 02:34:11 AM
they're mexican.. who gives a fark.. i only wish i was in the position to kick/kill all illegals out, mexican and all

2005-03-28 02:42:46 AM
2005-03-28 02:45:10 AM
I think it's a good idea to make generalizations about the citizens of an entire country and impugn American citizens and non-citizens of Mexican descent, despite their varied and valuble contributions to the economy and our culture, because a comparatively small group of hardcore soccer fans chanted something incoherently offensive towards the US.
2005-03-28 02:45:33 AM
Microsoft + FOX!!!!

Nothing like an article about Mexico to get the racists on Fark to show their true colors.
2005-03-28 02:46:10 AM
Whatthefark said..

Illegal immigration is one of the largest and most costly problems facing our country right now. We need to make drastic changes to our immigration laws

If you put your hands up to the monitor over whatthefark's statement, you can actually feel the ignorance.

2005-03-28 02:46:33 AM
Is there ANY possibility that Fox could just put all of their "This Country Hates US" stories in a small box in the right hand corner of their website for easy access, instead of using the entire website for that drivel?
2005-03-28 02:48:38 AM
Whom do the Canadians pay to pick their produce?
2005-03-28 02:48:54 AM

"Well, if the US were to disallow illigal immigrants from Mexico, your agriculture industy would collapse at worst, and produce would become much much more expensive at best"

.No it would not. Labor is less than 10% of the cost. At first there would be a short time of slightly higher costs, then agro business would automate like thy have for most of the rest of the farming industry in the U.S.A. The low wage jobs would go back to all the unemployed teenagers just like those parts of the U.S.A. that dont have a large illegal population. Any increase in costs would be off set by savings in series, lower crime rates, increased tax revenue. Nine emergency rooms closed because so many illegals use them as primary care facilities and dont pay their bills.
