The park also is apparently extreme enough for skateboarders and experts who are helping to build it.

Far out:60's

Extreme Golfing.

You skateboarders today are lucky I'm not out there tearing you all a new asshole up !
I had a board 25 years ago from Hobie that I called 'The Big Banana'. It was a downhill racing board made out of yellow fiberglass. I put black shower foot grip tape on it so I had better control. No kick board at all! I flew up and down curbs like no one. I was a bad ass boarder in my day.

SLAYERSWINE: I had one of those too, everyone laughed at me at school when we had some reacreational day until I did some badass tricks on it. Oh wait, I think that was just a movie.

What's so fun about "legal" skateboarding?

I thought the only reason punks liked to skateboard was because the cops were always hastling them to quit it. Go figure.

Skaters who are older than 30 years old should be euthanized.

Golfers younger than 30 should be run through a chipper-shreader.

Yeah, I had a board once........ going down some steep street I swerved to avoid a rock, fell on my ass and cracked my head open when it slapped against the pavement. Man, those were the days

i thought Louisville had something like this...Spaghetti Junction.

I knew Columbia was cool, BoCoMoFo, but gee whiz. I had no idea they had that.

I think the biggest difference of the Louisville park and many similar parks around the country will be the full-pipe. This is something totally unseen in the US since the skatepark heyday of the 70's when places like Upland in California ruled. Here is an example of what it looks like:
Another cool thing is that it is downtown and not out in burbs. You can stay downtown and skate to the park. Sick, biatch.

I can remember through a few bong hits ago, I lived in Augusta Ks. our JHS had sidewalks that were made for the boards and we used them... Now I watch my son ride his board..
The bowls, pipes, ramps and rails -- the park's obstacles -- are built. Light poles are up and a large, grassy bank overlooking the park is ready for people to come, sit and ogle. Fencing, landscaping and ramp details remain
Drew, after FARK this should be a walk in the park for you, dew it, and tell us about it..

That full-pipe reminds me of the bullring level in Tony Hawk 2. No one try and go all the way around, or else you might fall on your head, ok?
2002-03-24 02:13:28 AM
The designers have tested the park extensively using Sony's Playstation 2 and a copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. It has been described as "totally biatchin'" so far, but many fewer skaters are expected to be able to air over the full pipe in real life.
2002-03-24 02:29:05 AM
wait a minute, that skatepark is all concrete right? Which means the full pipe is concrete. so, skater attempting full pipe transfer + 20 feet above concrete = uh-oh.
2002-03-24 02:53:40 AM

I'll be attempting it shortly. I'll fill you in.

If you can't die in a bowl of molten steel I don't wanna hear bout it
2002-03-24 04:07:13 AM
Dude, this is totally wicked.

"'There really isn't anything like this anywhere else in the world,' said the mayor, as he surveyed the 40,000square-foot concrete course"

Hmm... really?

Calgary Home to World's Largest Skatepark

The Canada level in THPS3 was based on this park.

Thanks KingTT...

I think it's time we declare Jihad on "raddest"...

yo. (hangovers are fun...but not prone to long strings of ghetto talk from a 22 year old white girl in the middle of maine...sigh...:))

"Skaters who are older than 30 years old should be euthanized."

Hey Hoosier: I'm 32 and longboard almost everyday! This is no reason to kill a me! {Now, my Hello Kitty collection.....}
2002-03-24 11:19:36 AM
I live right by this thing, and I'm way too old to skate. But I am going to take my Suzuki 400cc dirtbike down there and give it a decent break-in. I can't wait to try out that full pipe, it is huge. The first time I saw them build the form to make it I knew this park was a one-of-a-kind. And to see our youth bust their asses there should be eventful to say the least.
2002-03-24 11:21:25 AM
But what about people like me, who've made a concerted effort to totally suck on a BMX bike for 13 years? Is there anything in that park for us?

'Cause, well... we're not beginners, but we have no, um, "skillz" so to speak. Are we doomed to stationary tailwhips on the ground, rock-walks, and wheezing in pain through smoke-encrusted lungs?

Damn, now I feel all oppressed.

There is only one Burnside!!!

NO BIKES!! STAY OFF THE COPING!!! BTW im 18 so don't kill me
2002-03-25 12:18:54 AM
Thlayli: Naw, they have something for you, but it's not at the skate park. You have to travel a little out of town to Tom Sawyer Park in West Port, KY. (I've heard there's some National BMX circuit tourney that goes on there.)
