Ali G.... ewww.

Love that guy :D

Usually, "better than cats" is pretty redundant. With this guy the phrase may come in to question.

He's Controversial? What?

Alli G rules.

"aiight, is it ok to give ya dog a E?"

"what?"

"if the dog looks depressed, can he 'ave an E?"

"well no!"

"Is it okay for girls to try feminism, and then get back together with their boyfriends the next day?"

Classic

But there's no way in Hell this movie won't suck.

Oh christ, no. Please don't let another sold-out non-comedian tarnish our name further. Mr Bean was bad enough.

I watched the "Ali G - Aiii" video in one of my film classes last year. I thought he was pretty funny ;-) Can't wait to see how this movie is.

"Is it 'cos I is black?"

Interviewing David Beckham and Posh Spice:
"Now, no disrespect to your biatch, but..."

Saw it on Thursday night. Surprisingly it doesn't suck... it was actually a farkin' laugh riot. Sure, it's not the same as him interviewing unsuspecting people, but they manage to maintain the same kinda comedy.

Ali G is a bit like Cartman -- you can imagine him in just about any situation, and it's just inherently funny. The humour in the movie is pretty British, though; lots of cultural references North Americans won't get... dunno if it would fly there.

Go see it. Otherwise Ali G won't be able to pay for his grandma's hip replacement surgery.

oh hell yeah i cant wait

The funniest thing about Ali G. - he's Jewish!

2002-03-23 08:57:41 PM
What about Fawlty Towers? Red Dwarf? Black Adder? Absolutely Fabulous?

These are all great british comedies... and there's plenty more above average comedies they do too.

what's his dog's name ? "PooPac" ?

2002-03-23 09:10:36 PM
What the hell was that?

I remember Dave Allen. In my childhood the Dallas PBS
station used to run all those British comedy shows. In
fact, that station (KERA) was the first ever to show
Monty Python in the US.

Ali G is funny.

"Now which is da kind of acid dat can actually make you fly, mon?"

2002-03-23 09:40:05 PM
Wait, so I'm confused. I tried to watch one of his videos once, I got about 10 seconds in before I gave up on him. Is he some sort of Supergreg? Is he trying to be serious with the way he dresses or is it all part of some larger parody? As it is, he seems like a total and utter douchebag.

I USED TO BE WITH IT, BUT THEN THEY CHANGED WHAT IT WAS.

He's a comedian that parodies the "ghetto-gangster" lifestyle and he interviews unsuspecting guests ala the Daliy Show on Comedy Central.

This is the reason Europe hates america... well the world actually. You cant get enough of our wonderful culture and it pisses you off.

And the dogs name is tu pac, the rapper who made 4 hit singles after he was dead.

Please oh please tell me this film isn't going to be shown in America.
As much as I love the US, most of its citizens don't understand the concept of satire *at all*... I can only imagine the complaints "Is it 'cos I is black?' will get, let alone the entire premise of a white man acting like a Gangsta Rapper.

Ali G as a character isn't too bad, though. He's gone entirely mainstream now - releasing a Movie and a single with Shaggy proves that - but when he first came onto the scene he was a breath of fresh air, and when he does interviews he's very, very funny.

"there's plenty more above average comedies they do too"

Believe me, the number of UTTERLY, UTTERLY shiat comedies made far outweighs the amount of above average stuff. For every "Red Dwarf" or "Absolutely Fabulous" produced there are twenty "All About Me"'s being made. (Has anyone actually seen that? Making fun of severely disabled asian schoolkids is fun!)

Man, I have a bunch of his shorts I downloaded, that stuff is hillarious. My personal favorite is either the drugs one or the weapons one.

Red Dwarf! LOL! Yay, love that show. Why can't American television be that good? Seriously, the first time I saw Red Dwarf I was flipping through the channels and came across, what looked like, a really bad sci-fi flick. An alien is tearing into some dudes head and trying to eat his brains. Well, I start to turn it... but, it was at that point (where the alien started eating the dudes brain) that I heard laughter from a studio audience. lol. I was like, "umm... alright, I'll watch a show where a studio audience laughs while aliens eat a guys brain." Haven't been disapointed since.

What I'm tripping on is the fact that the one clip says 'TV spot'. No way could they show that commercial on Amercian TV without people freaking out. We're way too uptight over here. Anyway, that movie looks friggin' hilarious. UK got Red Dwarf, what did we get? Homeboys in Outer Space. oofah...

what annoys me is the ali-g that has made it onto tv in america, they havent actually TOLD them hes a spoof character, and the americans, being, as a nation, completley oblivious to irony, parody, and sarcasm, dont spot that hes a JOKE.

2002-03-24 05:46:46 AM
The most hilarious Ali-G movie clip I've ever seen is the on where he interviews Jenna Jameson at the Cannes Porn Festival.

Ali: Is there anything you wouldn't do?

Jenna: Well, I haven't done anal yet...

Ali: You're joking!!!

Jenna: No, I haven't done anal yet.

Ali: Not even with your boyfriend?

Jenna: Oh, of course with my boyfriend!

Ali: (relieved) I mean if he doesn't do anal he doesn't...care for you, you know what I mean?

Jenna: Exactly!

The coolest thing about Ali G is he got like a Poli-Sci degree or something from Cambridge University in England which is like saying Yale or Harvard here.

it is like Gwar. almost performance art. all the people in Gwar don't actually like throwing gizz on the audience. they are really like gradaute degree "artists". Ali G is actually like a hyper intelectual Jew.

2002-03-24 08:44:38 AM
Respect. Aiiii.

An Ali G movie is a cool concept, but a Borat movie would have been much better!

Wow I must be getting old. That just looks BAD and so...predictable.

Can you say, 'one trick pony?'

2002-03-24 10:58:42 AM
I strongly recommend anyone who hasn't seen anything of his go rent out 'Innit'. He is such a funny bastad. It has got a tiny bit old now, but I don't think he had much choice in the matter. He's been trying to retire him for a little while now, but they just keep shovelling money at him asking him when to stop.
I can't wait to see the movie, but then again I live in Staines (West side as well, I checked). It'll be funny to see this godforsaken dump on the big screen.

2002-03-24 05:53:59 PM
I don't wanna click it. Is he that dumb bastard in Madonna's "Music" video?

2002-03-24 06:15:57 PM
Does everything British have to be satire? I mean, is the Queen really a Queen or is she some kind of joke I don't get? Man, I bet it's a joke. Haha. I get it. I get jokes.

On a related topic, I found an Ali G Translator which is kind of cool.

ITs their version of our tom green, just he acts like a g-thug wanabe and tom green dresses up like hitler and goes to barmitzfas (sp?, sorry)

I showed all my friends episodes of it at a lan party, and noone would belive me that it wasnt tom green....

2002-03-25 04:11:12 PM
GoblinKing: There's one main difference. Tom Green is a talentless shiat. Sasha Baron Cohen (the guy that plays Ali G and Borat) is actually quite talented.
