I read a bunch of crap about this yesterday. I hope these idiots are taken out.

2005-03-23 08:59:26 AM
I work at an ISP, and I have no comment to make.

Other than FATPIPE! WOOHOOOOOOOOO!

http://isp.bahnhof.se/nyheter/index.php

/No html skills

2005-03-23 10:05:42 AM
Quick, someone get an infiltrator into the RIAA . . . . .

2005-03-23 10:06:30 AM
Phitheta219: Is there anyplace to go to translate the logfiles mentioned..

Are you trying to "analyze the log?" I did that about 30 minutes ago...

2005-03-23 10:07:03 AM
So you're telling me that the big corps are greedy AND corrupt??? The next thing you know, we'll hear that they are above the law and get away with shady tactics all the time...

2005-03-23 10:11:29 AM
Uberdave : I just want to read it. So I suppose so.

2005-03-23 10:14:26 AM
Doesn't the fark personals guy look like Scott Peterson?

2005-03-23 10:14:30 AM
Phitheta219

Sorry. I was trying to make a funny. "Analyzing the log" has two different meanings when you work in IT.

2005-03-23 10:17:02 AM
see, mom? EVERYBODY'S DOING IT.

/going to go jump off that bridge now.

Uberdave : Are you going to keep me in suspense, or do I have so call someone? Let me in on the joke.

My initial query still stands. Does anyone know where to get that translated? Babelfish doesn't work.

2005-03-23 10:23:55 AM
shouldnt this article have ended with "-sapa-dpa"?

2005-03-23 10:27:11 AM
You know what I find funny about piracy?
That someone would break the law and risk a fine or JAIL time in order to download a piece of garbage movie they wouldn't even bother paying $3.50 to RENT!

I mean, I ain't gonna go to jail over "The Stepford Wives" you know what I mean?

If you can't find ONE person to "borrow" "American Idiot" off of and you need to download the album from Kazaa....you have bigger problems than your bad tase in music!

Just MY 2 cents (that I'm willing to give)

2005-03-23 10:28:44 AM
I liked the stepford wives...it's worth stealing for sure!

2005-03-23 10:28:50 AM
Phitheta219: Are you going to keep me in suspense, or do I have so call someone? Let me in on the joke.

"Analyze the log?" Same as "generate the log dump" and "download the log."

Ugg. Talk about a slow work day. Here I am clarifying IT euphemisms for going to the can.

2005-03-23 10:30:03 AM
The anti-piracy mole was not downloading the stuff, he was planting it on the ISP's computers. He was being paid to find evidence, and when he did not find it, to plant it.

2005-03-23 10:30:09 AM
"It's not a good idea to comment just now. The statement which has been made requires that we really look at this in depth. There are a lot of logfiles to investigate."

'Yeah, that was a lot of bandwidth we had access to, we want to make sure we got -everything-... no, don't look in that folder, porn isn't illegal.'

"The anti-piracy mole was not downloading the stuff..."

"the APB infiltrator had himself carried out over 68,000 uploads and downloads of copyright-protected material on Bahnhof's servers."

Dumbasses. Looks good on them.

Gig103: Isn't this a cause for the irony tag?

Don't you know? Absolutely nothing in the universe is ever ironic. Just read a fark thread in which the ironic tag has been used.

2005-03-23 10:49:54 AM
Jeeeez - I don't even work in IT and I got the "Analyze the log" joke...some people make life harder than it has to be...

For those who really care about piracy (not me) copy and paste this link and read about what the actual game developers say about it(and other things). These are the real people that would have something to lose yet they know as well as I do how much money all these companies waste with their copy protection crap.

As of this moment I decree that Anti-piracy advocates are anti-social and Piracy advocates are socially responsible because they advocate public sharing of information.

/no sarcasm

2005-03-23 08:22:11 AM Gig103 [TotalFark]

Isn't this a cause for the irony tag?

No, because we already know that Anti-piracty advocates are really supporting a corporate agenda.

By now, most people should know that corporate agendas have nothing to do with supporting healthy social behaviour, like the free and widespread public distribution of information.
