from the article
"Spamalot'' has a top ticket price of $101.25, with premium tickets for the best seats in the house available at $251.

Bad at math?

That sounds funny, but nothing, and I mean nothing trumps the Attila the Hun Show.

have 4 tickets for April 2nd show. Considering selling on ebay?? Paid about 110 a piece.

Sell, dont sell???

I saw it about a week ago (it's been in previews for about a month) and it was great.

Tim Curry as Arthur - good
Hank Azaria as Lancelot & half of the good extras - great
David Hyde Pierce as Sir Robin = BRILLIANT

Only guy who could've done it better was Eric Idol.

Robo73: Bad at math?

I believe (and I may be TOTALLY off the mark here) that they are saying that the average ticket tops at $101.25. Now there are probably VERY FEW, LIMITED, PREMIUM tickets that go for $251, but the top "normal" ticket price is $101.25. Could be wrong.

Nick,
I appreciate the logic, but "top ticket price" in english means the MOST EXPENSIVE TICKETS.

/There must not be an editor at 1010 WINS
//will pay $150 to see it in a few months.

My Algebra class is wallpapered with various posters, movies and a seperate bit for stage. Spamalot's up there. By the way, the class is obviously hard as hell to pay attention to.

If only it could have been a movie, that way:

1) people would go to see it
2) it wouldnt be 100 dollars
3) it would make zillions of dollars

Literally the "top price" statement doesn't make sense, but in the minds of the producers and Broadway audiences, the top price for the show is what the majority of tickets go for (usually all the orchestra seats and the front section of the mezzanine, in this theatre I believe it's all the mezzanine and part of the balcony). That number is usually around $100, which is the regular price for a Broadway show.
The "premium" seats are a new thing some shows are doing, and the price varies from $150 to $400+ depending on the show. They're a very limited number of the best seats in the house designed for people who want a great seat at the last minute, and are willing to pay whatever it costs. Generally if you try to get a ticket to a show at the last minute, you'll be told "I have a seat in the last row of the orchestra on the side for $101.25, but if you want to pay for premium seats I have a few seats left in fifth row center." A good number of people are willing to pay more, rather than pay $100 to sit in the back. Before this came along, your only option was to take whatever crap was left or not see the show. Actually the reason I haven't seen Spamalot yet is because I'm willing to pay full price but not for bad seats. My connection for house seats couldn't even get me anything, so I'm waiting. And I can't afford the premium seats, so I'm SOL.

Anyway, as far as the weird way they worded it in the article, just telling audiences that the top ticket price is $250 or something would scare the average theatregoers away, so a distinction is made between regular full price tickets and the premium seats for the few folks who want to pay for them. But yeah, the way it's worded doesn't make any sense.

Saw it in previews - AMAZING. You should definately go see it. Unfortunately, birdboy2000, no witch burning scene. Bring your cash - they sell special MP Spam at the theatre.

You know, they made Holy Grail for 229,575 pounds. Even adjusted, they could probably make that movie for one night's take of this show.

I can't wait for the RIAA biatching about some punk teen hackers, pirating this show in thier local gym..

I want to see a Broadway musical based solely on the "Fish-Slapping Dance", which is undoubtedly the funniest thing ever put on film.

Gonna see it in July!

Recently, I saw a Vomiting Mr. Creosate doll and a full size replica of the Albatross (in the tray John Cleese carried it in) from the Albatross Sketch.

/and a small Black Knight Doll with removable limbs

Saw it last month, it's a mix of different Python sketches, not just the movie.

/Never expected the Finland song.

Friend of mine posted a review on his blog - overall he liked it. He also mentions which sketches from the movie were in, and which were cut out - so if you're curious hit the link. If you want to be surprised then don't read it though, or the last line of this post...

/laments the lack of the Castle Anthrax

God the Chicago showing was great. The first "Broadway" style show me and the wife had ever been to and let me tell you, WORTH EVERY PENNY. This show is very well done and the props are completely top notch. I mean the sets are utterly unbelievable.

Save your cash, find a ticket, see this show. It is simply something of Python greatness!

Would you believe Spamalot opens up with the "Fish-Slapping Dance"? It's in the first part of the first skit. I am not making this up (saw it in Chicago).

What, no witch scene? But it's classic! Who wouldn't want to see the scales and the duck?

But, alas, Chicago is too far so I cannot go see this. It sounds brilliant.
