Let's not forget that in KOTOR there are blades that can go head to head with lightsabers. There are also body sheilds that can deflect lightsabers.

Of couse this is all a couple of thousand years before the original trilolgy, so other things have most likely been developed by some outlying races.

Adamantium requires 20,000 joules of energy to melt (yes, I googled it...)

http://www.hoboes.com/html/RPG/BrandX/Rules/AdventuringAids.html

While a light saber (or plasma sword if you prefer) operates in a pure plasma state, confied by an energy field of unknown origin and focused by crystals of unknown origin.

Plasma for fusion is kept at 100 million degrees Kelvin:

http://www.rzg.mpg.de/~bds/phys/fusion-confine.html

It would easily melt through adamantium.

I just spent 4 hours reading this thread, I'm amazed.

also.

I do not believe the lightsabre would use heat/plasma/anything that generates photons. if it did, it would mean that the containment for the radiation is quite poor since you can actually see the sabres blade. and if you can see the blade that means that other things from the light spectrum are also escaping from the surface of the blade...heat....radiation.. so anyone near it would burn up..well if its as powerful as thought. I'm going with that the actual blade is invisible and there is a small LED light in the sabre weilders handle that projects the light, dim enough to filter through the invisible blade/catching whatever is moving around in there and thats why we can see the sabre.....on a side note. I make no sense

I would like to see the Excalibur sword from the original Final Fantasy (made with Adamant) go up against the Light Saber. Although that's probably like saying someone with a Light Axe taking on someone with the Masmune would be cool too.

Unless Wolverine's ligaments are also admantium, they could be separated. Thus separating a few vertebrae would be achievable, and sucking the sweet crazy straw of nerve tissue we like to call a cord, out. Or something.

Not Batman.

Lightsabers are constructed out of the most sacred and rare crystals. Padwan learner Jedi must make their own before they are able to advance in their training. The crystal emits a beam of thightly focused energy, coming from the crystal it has in it, and dependent on the color of the crystal, the beam comes out a specific color. The lightsaber is able to cut through absolutely ANYTHING...except another lightsaber beam...so, yes, the answer is YES...weeee....

Of course a lightsaber would cut through adamantium.

As for the question of could Wolverine be beaten by a lightsaber, it would depend on who is weilding it. Obviously, Joe-Schmo would get his ass handed to him, but put the saber in the hands of a Jedi or someone who is a servent the Dark Side, Wolverine wouldn't stand a chance.

As for the comment about Yoda getting destryoed by Goku, first, why would that ever happen? Second, Force users can have this ability to absorb or dissipate energy which comes in contact with their bodies (ala the Empire Strikes Back when Han shoots blaster bolts at Vader are he puts up his hand and the shots do nothing), so I don't think that the Spirit Bomb would do too much. Not to mention that a Spirit Bomb is based on the same energy as the Force itself, so if needed, Yoda would be able to halt the entire process of collecting the energy to begin with.

As for the theory of lightsaber claws, I'm not going to touch that with a ten foot pole.

You bow to no one!

And it would be Wolverine, because a Jedi statue made of solid metal is neat an' all, but you just gave 6 lightsabers to wolverine! : )

Yea, Cypher died -pretty- quick.

Cypher (Doug) was brought in to be a romantic foil for the Kitty Pryde/Colossus relationship. She should NEVER have been made into a mutant and added to the NM. Oh, and after he died, he should have NEVER been brought back.

Okay, so it's possible for adamantium to plausibly be effected by a lightsaber. But someone mention said jedi "cutting off" the helmet of Juggernaut, yet even Wolverine's claws didn't cut it. I believe it was a combination of Cyclops, Jubille, Jean Grey, and Wolverine that were able to remove the helmet. So how would a Jedi get it done? And if I'm not mistaken isn't Juggs' incredibly fast? There were a few times where he rammed Wolvy before he could get out of the way.

But I still pose this question:

Luke vs. Anakin?

Dark Phoneix or Silver Surfer vs. All of the Jedi/Sith in existence?

And a more interesting fight than a jedi and Wolvy, how 'bout Jango vs. Wolvy? Hunting one another

Who would win: A women with adamantium boobies, or a man with a lightsaber for a weener?

2005-03-18 01:55:12 PM
okay, here's the deal..

The reason it took so long for the Lightsabre to cut through the door in Episode 1, was not because it was hindered in movement.. But simply because the door was thicker then the length of the blade. If they had cut a circle out, the door would have sat there with a circular incision.

Hence, it was more effective to use the Saber to melt the door, then to cut through it. The metal did -not- slow down that saber at all. :)

The Saint of Killers:

It depends, is Batman expecting a fight with Cap, or is this a random encounter deal?

'cause if Batman is prepared, he will not loose. But he'd get his ass handed to him if the Cap just upped and attacked him, sure. Bats wasn't mutated by the army.

2005-03-18 01:58:02 PM
One thing to remember: you don't have to be Jedi or Sith to use a lightsabre -- Han Solo used one just fine to slice a tauntaun, and Ben Kenobi in Episode IV seemed to imply they were at one point the predominant weapon of the Star Wars universe.

The Saint of Killers:

Batman may be willing to cheat, but Captain America is willing to kill and that's a far more effective way of winning a fight.

Batman is above killing random street thugs, but he has no problem with taking the lives of other superheroes/villains. If you can recall, he refused to join the Justice League until he figured out how to kill all of them. Hell, he keeps a wad of Krpytonite in his back pocket at all times just in case! He has an Uncle Ben-like attitude towards people with powers: he figures if they aren't responsible enough to know what they are doing and the risks they are taking, they have no business living with said abilities.

In addition to Captain America and the above pictures,Batman has historically defeated Superman, the Swamp Thing and Tarzan. It doesn't matter who the enemy is, Batman always wins.

I believer wolverine has normal ligaments and cartilege but I also believe that the bones are bonded together with the adamantium... besides the point, you'd only get about a second before the healing factor put the bone back into place.

That assumes that the jedi choking thing could overcome the adamantium wrapping around his throat and windpipe, which is a whole extra debate. All Vader is doing is using the force to choke you... no different than wrapping your hands around someone's throat, just much more powerful.

Also, Wolverine would probably fight through that long enough to at least get to the Jedi and cause him to break his concentration.
