davidshi123: Favre throws too many interceptions.

and wins too many MVPs

2005-03-10 08:08:16 PM
Ok, packers suck and all, and ill spare the obligatory explanation from a Vikings fan, but, I do have to say, I have a lot of respect for that man, and I wish him and his wife the best.

2005-03-10 08:08:22 PM
i've been a Dolphin fan for a long time, and i remember being excited when it was clear that dan marino would indeed try to come back from his achilles injury in 1994.

did he (actually "come back" in the sense that he was as good as he once was)? - heck no.
and the 'phins have pretty much sucked since.

\just a cautionary tale about hanging onto the old guys, especially when they're the QB.

2005-03-10 08:09:01 PM
Yay!

/who cares

2005-03-10 08:09:23 PM
Thankfully, us Colts fans don't have to worry about QB situations
Or ever making it to a Superbowl

Musta been all that weeed in Miami, wjllope

I feel your pain tho Cuchulane I miss hockey.
But back to the topic at hand, seeing as the only jersey I've ever owned is a #49 Wakefield jersey, I can respect guys like him and Favre. The guys who just go out and do their job day in and day out. Their level of skill might be a little different(Favre is better at his sport), but their attitude to the game is still something that can be admired. Them and people like Ripken, Gretzky, and the like.

2005-03-10 08:10:52 PM
Favre could not be more overrated right now. Every game he plays the announcers trip all over each other to tongue bathe his anus. All the while Favray is throwing 4 picks and losing the game by himself.

YOU TALK ABOUT A GUY WHO LOVES THE GAME OF FOOTBALL....

speedshifter187:

Lay off the Pacers. Reggie Miller is God. But Colts do suck.

Grad: one bad apple... thats all it takes in a sport filled with uneducated gangstas

But then, where does that leave football......

speedshifter - Musta been all that weeed in Miami, wjllope

sigh. Effing Ricky. talk about head cases.

we should've seen the writing on the wall when he appeared on the cover of ESPN magazine wearing a wedding dress with Mike Ditka. W.T. Flying F?
cheers

Graduation Dog: I think because of all the people saying he is overrated he is actually underrated. He's got like an effective third order underration coefficient that is through the roof.

Daa Bears
/Packers can pack it up their arse

2005-03-10 08:13:46 PM
Somehow he's just thrown another interception.

2005-03-10 08:15:00 PM
I haven't seen that, got a pic of the cover?

As far as Ricky goes though, it's just farktarded to throw away a career cause you want to smoke a little weed - I understand you want to have your freedom and all, but you've got a team and a state relying on you to produce, for the GAME. Not for your dealer....

After retirement the poor freak is going to be eating Vicodin like babies eat Cheerios.

2005-03-10 08:18:47 PM
If his wife wasn't doing well, there is no way in Hell he was going to come back for another year.

If this is his final year, you know the NFL will be rigged so he can retire with one more Super Bowl ring.

2005-03-10 08:19:01 PM
speedshifter....

here you go...

again, sigh.

2005-03-10 08:19:11 PM
brap: at least he won't catch shiat from the league for eating them hydros.. lol. I swear, he should go back to eating em like they're flinstones vitamins - he threw less picks when he was all jacked up on em.

2005-03-10 08:20:04 PM
His day may be a bit behind him, but if we had gotten him, Minnesota woulda won the superbowl every year since 98 ;)

/not exaggerated that much...

2005-03-10 08:20:23 PM
speedshifter - that attempt resulted in some timeout error, so here's the link:

Well, with Reggie shuffled off this mortal coil and the Sharpes long gone, the pack needs to hold on to the new glory days.

wjllope: Kind of fitting analogy - Ditka = NFL, and Ricky is the league's biatch.

BTW to anyone who thinks GMs and coaches have the first clue about evaluating talent:

Tom Brady was selected in the SIXTH round. wow.

Go Blue!

2005-03-10 08:24:45 PM
one more season for me to see Favre go out like I want him to, 0-16. Greedy selfish bastard, deserves to fall of his dumbass pedestal.

2005-03-10 08:25:19 PM
Players evolve, so to speak - it's normal in any sport.

2005-03-10 08:27:05 PM
This is the year of the Colts, fellas. Just need a litte more D.

Colts fans unite!

2005-03-10 08:28:14 PM
Players evolve, so to speak - it's normal in any sport.

indeed. but picking the ones that will (evolve) vs all those that defeinintely won't is precisely their job.

of course hindsight is 20/20 but still i find this fact amazing... and remember all the hemming and hawing when
he replaced bledsoe? LOL

2005-03-10 08:29:27 PM
jarbabyj: Go read that article, and tell me what part of that makes him selfish and/or greedy?

Ya see, this is why women have no place in football - as fans, OR commentators.

2005-03-10 08:29:58 PM
just need a litte more D.

and more practice playing in weather.
especially cold snowy weather.

jarbabyj, you also self-admittedly write fan fic, so that shows how separated from reality you are

Come to think of it you are completely correct. Great point.

2005-03-10 08:53:05 PM
And Cuchulane? Thanks for that pic of Manning getting assaulted. I hope the baby horses die this year....forever.

2005-03-10 08:53:29 PM
Not going to matter. The Mossless Vikings can still win at Lambeau.

2005-03-10 08:54:33 PM
bring it

2005-03-10 08:57:00 PM
selfish? continuing to play football when your wife has cancer? Living in a different city from your wife and child during the football season? When he was on ESPN two years ago, they asked him what he thought of his back up and he laughed and said "I didn't know I had one."

No, not selfish at all.

Greedy? pursuing two individual records at the expense of his team's success (consecutive games started and consecutive games with a touchdown pass)

He won't retire because he can't resist the weekly cock sucking from every NFL commentator on the planet.

2005-03-10 09:04:20 PM
How many times is Brett Favre going to have crash and burn in the playoffs (4 years in a row and counting) before people realize he's doing the Packers a disservice?

I'd hate to see cheeseheads cheering him on as he goes onto the field with a walker.

Actually, I take that back. I'd love to see that.

2005-03-10 09:04:24 PM
Ok, you can rip on the packers, but the article is about Favre. You have to at least respect him. He is just a very fun quarterback to watch because he has a complete love for the game. Also, whenever his teammates get in a fight, he is the first one to get in the other team's face. He backs his teammmates and has fun. Peyton Manning, although he may have better stats or may be technically better than favre, you don't see him leading a team emotionally like favre does. Peyton has the technique, but I am not sure about the will. And Peyton has an unbelievable receiving core around him. Favre has been making good receivers out of nobodies. Also Favre is the only qb to throw 30 or more touchdowns in each of the last two seasons, so he is still at his prime. Go Favre and go Pack

2005-03-10 09:06:37 PM
Yeah, I've noticed that there are no other football players that love the game.

I'll rejoice in knowing that $500 put on every opponent of the packers this year will leave me $4500 ahead at the end of the season.

/Go Pats, your Dynasty awaits ye.

2005-03-10 09:21:14 PM
Wow. I didn't know it was a prerequisite to quit your job when your wife gets cancer. Better keep that in mind!

By the way, a whole bunch of NFL players keep their families at their "home" away from their city. One of the biggest deciders for players (see Edge James, for instance)is whether or not they can play in a city close to home. If anything, it shows some degree of selflessness, because you don't have to uproot the kids when they've already settled in a town.

Now run along and write a Spock/Kirk furry.
