He canceled because he was waiting on Marion Berry to deliver some crack. The guy needed a hit to round up some pep !

2002-03-21 02:44:43 PM
... well DUH.
2002-03-21 02:45:08 PM
ironic, yes.. but a single rainstorm does not a drought end.

Hey, a Maryland story. woo!

Don't forget to: "Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks, docks and other hard surfaces."
2002-03-21 02:46:20 PM
"Repair leaky faucets, toilets or pipes.

Landscape using drought-tolerant plants.

Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks, docks and other hard surfaces"

And bathe about as often as the French do. Will conserve half a years water supply right there.

"All it amounts to is a tear in a salted sea."

i guess it would be kinda hard to talk about a draught during a rainstorm.
2002-03-21 02:51:55 PM
"All we are is dust in the wind."
2002-03-21 02:55:08 PM
no, i didn't miss it. I just got the impression that some people thought the announcement was unnecessary, not just poorly timed.

"Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks, docks and other hard surfaces."

so what other hard surfaces should a broom be used to clean?
2002-03-21 03:23:34 PM
curling rinks
2002-03-21 03:23:40 PM
Yeah, that would put a damper on things.
2002-03-21 03:38:31 PM
Torrential my ass. It was mediocre at best.
2002-03-21 03:39:31 PM
A downpour like that wouldn't help a drought at all.. the ground soil's probably too dry to soak up any of that water beyond a few centimeters, so the rest just runs right off. Erosion, flooding, life just got worse for these people. Sucks.
2002-03-21 03:41:30 PM
Bah ha ha ha...
2002-03-21 03:44:09 PM
What is with the precipitous declarations of emergency? I mean, really. It seems like there's been some kind of "State of Emergency" in Missouri every year since 1993. Are modern people just wimpier about weather or what?
2002-03-21 03:45:12 PM
why would you live there again?
2002-03-21 03:47:35 PM
Hehe I live in Annapolis, MD. It rained all last weekend and at least 3 times during the week.
2002-03-21 03:53:25 PM
Oh my god, people! I totally saw this one coming!

"Parris surrenders."

2002-03-21 03:53:37 PM
It doesn't say WHY the outdoor conference was canceled in the article...
2002-03-21 03:55:27 PM
I'm surprised Governor Elect Kathleen Kennedy Townsend didn't deliver the news. Oh that's right she only gets the happy news that will make people want to vote for her WASTING OF PRECIOUS AIR AND RESOURCES WORTHLESS KENNEDY ASS.

Thanks, I'm better now.

Save water: Shower with a friend!

I live in Baltimore, and it was hardly a torrential downpour. Yeah, sure maybe it rains in Annapolis, but the severe drought conditions are here in central maryland (read the article). Today's another bright, sunny, dry day. If we don't get some serious rain throughout the spring, we are gonna have a really sucky year. They'll start to limit things like washing your car.
Stevarooni, I don't think people are wimpier, I think that farking global warming is causing climate changes, which affect things like agriculture and whatnot. And what causes global warming? It's the farking american mindset... oh sure... go ahead and use as much aerosol as you want... obviously it's more important to smell nice, than to prevent a hole in the ozone that results in global warming, that results in droughts that will result, eventually, in mass starvation.
oh farking well. Here ya go, grandkids... enjoy this messed up planet.

It was only a drizzle, biotch

<rant>How about that. Well thanks, Wazir, now that you've given me a solution to it all, I'm pretty skippily-dippily happy! By the way...uh...what do you propose? A governmental body that scrutinizes every action taken? As well as controlling reproduction so that there aren't more kids to use up resources?</rant>
