Ironbar.

The difference is that these people have possibly committed serious crimes against the US.

When they take American hostages, it's journalists and business travelers.

BIG difference.

2002-03-20 12:38:52 PM
mmmmm....anal punishment....

"these fvckers aren't even POWs just POS detainies."

Point Of Sale detainees? What's a Point Of Sale detainee?

I kill me.

BIG difference.

You're right, BIG difference as in no basis for an analogy.

Lunch: Ham
Dinner: Leftovers

Don't like it? Starve then you dirty little goatherder.

2002-03-20 12:41:31 PM
"Oh, yeah, they're soooooooooo mistreated!"

"We treat these guys better than our POWs have ever been treated and these fvckers aren't even POWs just POS detainies. "

"This is so wrong. People are starving in the world, yet we feed terrorists......... "

Well, I see all points needed have been made here.....carry on.

And the razor blades between the joints in the tubes at the water slide parks.

2002-03-20 12:42:29 PM
Feed them up the fatter the better, I can just hear the sound of the rope creeking as they go through the trap door!

2002-03-20 12:43:02 PM
I wonder if Daniel Pearl was given fruit loops?

2002-03-20 12:43:12 PM
Ironbar, where's your outrage over Navy pilot Lt. Cmdr. Michael Scott Speicher, who got shot down over Iraq? Haven't heard any of that. Or is there doubt about whether or not he was tortured? Do you think the Iraqis put him up in one of Saddam's swanky palaces and had maids hand-feed him grapes?

We've been treating those losers at Guantanamo pretty farking well - a he11 of a lot better than our guys would be treated if THEY were captured!

2002-03-20 12:44:43 PM
Ironbar - what do you think they did to Daniel Pearl? Feed him Froot Loops and let him watch Nickelodeon? They tortured his ass and killed on video. And if they capture our soldiers they do the same to them. They shot and killed that helicopter gunner that fell out, they didn't take him to a POW camp and nurse him back to health, they RAN to him and unloaded on him. I'm done.....

2002-03-20 12:45:13 PM
Ironbar:
Explain why it's "not a legit analogy".
Explain how it's an analogy, for that matter. It's not. It's a counterexample.
You said that we have to treat them right so that our people will be treated right if taken. Our people have been summarily executed when taken. Since we treat them right and they cap us, your conditional fails.
We should treat them right for the sole reason that we are not them.
.
Reminds me of the story of a man who was lambasted by a younger woman for holding the door for her. "Do you think I need some man to hold the door for me because I'm a lady? I can open the door just fine!" and such.
His response was "I didn't hold the door for you because you are a lady. I held the door for you because I am a gentleman."
We don't treat prisoners well because we consider gthem to be worthy human beings. We do so because we consider ourselves to be worth human beings. If we DON'T treat prisoners well, it's not because we've stopped thinking of them as good enough to deserve being treated well, it's because we've stopped thinking of ourselves as good enough to treat others well.

2002-03-20 12:45:38 PM
Brisvegas_boy If that was said to make a point, I must say nice one, but I don't think he was. I guess there IS a line between those animals and US humans.

2002-03-20 12:46:24 PM
Tjr7n, you left out my smiley which shows that I wasn't being serious.

2002-03-20 12:49:09 PM
Right Ironbar, that's my point.

You're the one that said you dont want to hear shiat when our people get tortured.

Civilians being tortured and abused is sad, but it it as sad as making sure these thugs are comfortable?

2002-03-20 12:49:26 PM
My facking god, since when did terrorists get to have a better breakfast than I?

Something's not right here, folks. I feel sad for the people who struggle day to day just to find a meal. And here, people who want to dance on our rotting collective corpse are beefing up on Froot Loops and MRE's? The shiat of the bull, this is.

2002-03-20 12:50:49 PM
Ironbar:
We gotta be straight with these bastards so in case our soldiers get POWed in the future, they won't be screwed with.

Yeah, especially since the Taliban/Al Qaeda don't take prisoners. Instead, they execute them. Good reason to be straight with them.

And, from later on the same page:

Most Americans have bounced back mentally from Sept. 11, but about 16 percent say they are depressed or anxious as a direct result

Unless these people were at or near Ground Zero (NY or DC) at the time of the attacks, they need to have their asses kicked.

2002-03-20 12:51:05 PM
Vegasj: You got my point. And yes, a very big line!

2002-03-20 12:51:20 PM
Dag, I was about to go off about the Special Forces guy who fell out of the helicopter a couple of weeks ago, and how he was surrounded and shot, not taken prisoner, despite the fact we're treating the al Qaeda POWs well. But MacGabhain has a much, much better point.

2002-03-20 12:51:26 PM
No source, not reported anywhere else.

Its propaganda folks!

Pearl is still a bad analogy for this situation.

The guy who fell out of the Chinook is the only one so far, and that was a horrible situation.

It's obvious that these al Qaeda pricks don't hold themselves to anyone's standards, but it's a line we can't cross, if we do, what's next, where does it end?

2002-03-20 12:53:38 PM
Ahhh, Excellent!

We are getting them addicted to our sugar and empty calories and making them into imbecilic, fat little peasants like the rest of the American work force to blindly slave away in our 'service industry' for minimum wage.

Bwahahahaha!

Next phase... at least 8 hours of TV a day. They'll need to know that they are to spend their wages on beer (our special 'dumbing down' drug) and boobies. Boobies! BOOBIES! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (cough) HA (choke) ha!

Religion? Naw, they already have a belief system that represses them into pliable tools for the rich.

2002-03-20 12:55:10 PM
Yes, propaganda that should be distinguished from that "not for attribution" quote-filled article you posted about U.S. bombs in Afghanistan causing earthquakes felt all the way to India.

Hell, pot, kettle, here...

2002-03-20 12:57:47 PM

Gulf War, not analogous now, Saddam and his minions are a pig of a different odor.

The real story on that page:
Is a Cooter comeback looming on Capitol Hill? Former "Dukes of Hazzard" star Ben Jones, who served a four-year stint as a Democratic congressman from Georgia, says he's going to run for the House again, but this time in Virginia's 7th District. Jones, who gained fame playing the mechanic Cooter on the TV show, first came to Congress in 1988 but lost a 1992 re-election bid after becoming ensnared in the House bank scandal. Cooter the Sequel will take on freshman GOP Rep. Eric Cantor in November in a solidly Republican Virginia district.

2002-03-20 01:00:19 PM
Since we can kill the free range terrorists with impunity, why not simply release the caged terrorists and then shoot them when they leave the cage?

2002-03-20 01:00:46 PM
At any rate, we didn't take any prisoners during Anaconda, did we?

Do I mind?

No.

Would I prefer Al Qaeda be stamped out like polio instead of imprisoned?

Yes I do, I just don't want to hear about and I hope nbody leaks it to the media.

Kill 'em where they stand so they don't get a chance to go to Cuba.

2002-03-20 01:04:33 PM
Ctenidae: Yeah! I know!

Have I been living under a rock? I didn't know there was a Congressman Cooter.

2002-03-20 01:08:41 PM
blame the great ole' American way people....how's this any different from that jackass on death row eating better than me, watching cable TV that I pay for, and getting his free membership to "gold's gym" anytime he wants ?? All paid for by the AMERICAN PEOPLE ... next time you see a Lawyer, kick HIS ass, their the greedy sum b|tches that jump on the chance to sue the Gov' for Jihad Johnny not getting to watch his favorite cable program in jail....jesus!

2002-03-20 01:08:58 PM
I can accept that idea, Ironbar.

2002-03-20 01:10:05 PM
Dark One,

sorry! I didn't do that on purpose.

2002-03-20 01:23:49 PM
Ever wonder if the terrorists use the phrase "If xxxxx then the capitalists have already won" when they see stuff like this?

2002-03-20 01:28:44 PM
Damn, I want MacGabhain on my team for the next debate.

Only time anyone on Fark has ever changed my mind, and god knows Harmonia spends enough energy attempting to do so to everyone here.

2002-03-20 01:29:03 PM
What ever happened to these people hating all things American? I think Froot Loops would qualify. Farking Hypocrites!

2002-03-20 01:30:27 PM
the word is spelled "F-R-U-I-T".

2002-03-20 01:31:31 PM
I would imagine any real food after hiding in a cave in Afghanistan is bound to put some weight on anyone.

2002-03-20 01:36:04 PM
I was going to comment, but just noticed that my Budweiser can has a "In Gratitude" message saluting American Heroes. I need to read my beer more often, dang. I kept reading it, and could find nothing intelligent to add to this conversation, so I drank it.....But wait.....THIS one has it on the can too....nope..nothing, same tribute, I'll keep you updated in case I find any breaking news on the cans.

2002-03-20 01:38:49 PM
the word is spelled "F-R-U-I-T".

I'm sorry but you are mistaken. It is "F-R-O-O-T".

2002-03-20 01:44:40 PM
If the terrorists can't eat Froot Loops, then the terrorists have already won.

-j

2002-03-20 01:45:17 PM
I believe we should include one "Jagged Metal Krusty 'O'" per box of Froot Loops.

2002-03-20 01:46:14 PM
froot loops are only part of a balanced breakfast, they need mini-marshmellows and pop tarts and a glass of cyanide.

2002-03-20 01:47:43 PM
Are you saying you can't get FrootLoops in
Afganitstan?
Well jeepers I won't be goin' there any time soon.

What about Cap'n Crunch?

2002-03-20 01:50:42 PM
cap'n crunch is m.i.a.

2002-03-20 01:50:55 PM
Just in case you skipped spelling in the fourth grade IRONBAR

Now I'm hungry, I'm waging jihad against lunch and gettin me a weapons grade sammich!

2002-03-20 01:57:23 PM
"What's a Point Of Sale detainee?"

That would be Wynona Ryder.

"Its propaganda folks!"

Anything that goes against Harmonia's perfect plan for the world is propoganda. Why do we elect all these politicians? Harmonia has all the answers, all governments should just vote him in.
