He lost me with the God stuff. Ok, and the whore stuff. Something tells me this guy is a "waiting-til-marriage" Catholic, and girls with t-shirts shake his resolve as they shake their booty. Amen.

2002-03-20 03:13:59 PM
" Feminist thought has taught young women that equality is achieved by acting like promiscuous sluts. "

My whole opinion of feminism has changed.

I've decided that I too, am a feminist.

2002-03-20 03:14:42 PM
Why are women "whores" and "sluts" while men are just being men? Aren't men unpaid whores too (or at least wish they could be)?

2002-03-20 03:15:07 PM
That article was a little winded, huh?

2002-03-20 03:15:56 PM
Duck and cover, people, here comes the shiatstorm.

2002-03-20 03:15:58 PM
But why is it liberating for a college-age woman to jump into bed with a man that is not her husband? Why is it freeing to become intoxicated and to hook-up with anonymous frat guys? Why is it an expression of equal rights to give into men's animalistic instincts?

Why are men not held to this guys standards? Why does he think women don't have animalistic instincts as well and want to get laid!

2002-03-20 03:16:23 PM
Loser. The guy doesn't have a sister.

2002-03-20 03:16:32 PM
I thought college girls were more like PORNSTAR WANNABES

2002-03-20 03:17:08 PM
Time to go back to college!

2002-03-20 03:17:44 PM
Isn't an unpaid whore just a slut?

2002-03-20 03:17:48 PM
Additionally, other sex-based relationships have become commonplace. In recent years, a new and disturbing arrangement known as "friends with benefits" has emerged.

this bad....hmm

2002-03-20 03:18:09 PM
This fella sounds upset because he is watching college students every where get a lot of tail, yet getting none himself.

easy college women are the best thing about college.

2002-03-20 03:18:23 PM
Blackbird: if he does, i bet his name is quentin compson.

okay. no more faulkner references today. promise.

2002-03-20 03:18:24 PM
ahh this guy is an idiot. He's saying women should be celibate to control men WTF

2002-03-20 03:18:41 PM
Now that I think about it, I object to the portrayal of men in said article as sex-starved, immoral maniacs. Yeah, sometimes we're like that, but not always, and we don't always enjoy it when we *are* that way. Besides, women want sex sometimes too. (True! I heard it from women, one of whom wanted to sleep with me!)

2002-03-20 03:18:51 PM
No, most girls are not actually uttering those words, but the slutty sentiments are implicit in the standard female college behavior - wearing tight shirts and pants, getting publicly drunk, hanging on every guy around, and engaging in random sex.

And this is a problem because ...?

2002-03-20 03:18:52 PM
Want to guess if this guy is getting any?

2002-03-20 03:19:36 PM
But then again maybe they are more like JUNIOR COLLEGE SLUTS

2002-03-20 03:19:43 PM
This guy can't get laid, 'cuz all the ladies wanna "become intoxicated and to hook-up with anonymous frat guys?"

10-1 says this guy's not a Greek.

2002-03-20 03:19:59 PM
Presumably, women could exercise their true power to tame men by using celibacy (and other ladylike behavior) to induce men into monogamous stable relationships and eventually into marriage. Along the way to healthy relationships, women could also gain some self-respect.

Somebody pull the plug on this guy before he ruins it for the rest of us!

2002-03-20 03:20:37 PM
because biologically, women are the male peacock-- bright plumiage to attract the others cocks (pun intended). man find the pretty lady and the pretty lady decides if she lets the man f*ck her. there was less biological advantage for men to mate with only one person. there are several socio-biological downsides for women to act masculine when it comes to breeding habits. this is what has shaped our social attitudes, not churches, not media, not anything else. somehow recently it seems that people have piles of intellectual garbage around some very simple biology. read some evolutionary psychology books, its interesting stuff.

2002-03-20 03:20:55 PM
<rant>Awesome article. Exactly how I feel, and no I'm not a "wait until marriage catholic". I'm 20, I'm in college, and I have my share of girls, but at the same time, I'm very selective.

Also, I'm agnostic (non-religious). I'm also smoke and drug free, and that's how I like my girls as well. When I say this, people think I'm a goody two shoes or I'm "Christian" or something.

I'm not religious, I just don't want a girl that's used, I don't want your nasty smoke staining my walls/property, I don't want to hear the excuse "I farked him because I was high/drunk, it didn't mean anything.". I just happen to like moral, clean, down to earth women. Quit confusing it with religion.

There's a term for it: straight-edge.</rant>

2002-03-20 03:21:13 PM
Along the way to healthy relationships, women could also gain some self-respect.

who says they don't have it already?

2002-03-20 03:22:03 PM
this guy should have been more funny when being ridiculous

2002-03-20 03:22:26 PM
This guy needs to give a college chick a good pounding. Come to think of it, so do I.

2002-03-20 03:22:46 PM
"Look at that college chick, ain't she sweet? I wonder if her pussy is any good to eat ?
Oh yes but I'm so clean cut, I just wanna fark some slut !"

They just don't write love songs like they used to...

2002-03-20 03:24:19 PM

Raydr:

Interesting how you want a girl that isn't "used", but you make no such guarantee of your own history to her. Not quite fair, is it?

2002-03-20 03:24:36 PM
The link went the way of Fark-a-mo Jones, but, judging from the sentiment of this thread, this guy was as dull as dishwater

2002-03-20 03:24:56 PM
I wish he would inject some religion into his argument, that would really seal it for me.

Most. Biased. Argument. Ever.

2002-03-20 03:25:29 PM
Can the moral high ground ever be reclaimed? Perhaps...one church pew at a time.

Excuse me while I puke.

2002-03-20 03:25:53 PM
Raydr, agnostic does not equal non-religious. You may be both, but you can be agnostic and still be religious - just not a religion based on the belief of a god.

2002-03-20 03:26:06 PM
$5 says this guy is a republican.

anyone?

anyone?

hehe.

2002-03-20 03:26:28 PM
Rwkasten:This guy can't get laid, 'cuz all the ladies wanna "become intoxicated and to hook-up with anonymous frat guys?" 10-1 says this guy's not a Greek.

Obviously. Fratties don't do chicks, they circle-jerk on biscuits.

2002-03-20 03:26:36 PM
This guy ain't been hanging around Chantaclear or The Royal Palm. If you go home empty handed, shame on you.

(Similar the the Voo in College Park in it's hayday)

2002-03-20 03:28:14 PM
Most every girl I now is a slut. And the ones I think are nice and pure are probably sluts too. No reason to complain about it. I'd probably be the sluttiest girl in town if I was female.

2002-03-20 03:28:33 PM
The Taliban is looking for guys like this to swell their dwindled cranks, er, ranks.

2002-03-20 03:28:43 PM
How can we take seriously anyone who lists Willy Wonka's Ooompa-Loompas as a source?

2002-03-20 03:28:58 PM
Gorgeous: And you're right. Everyone says the same thing...and I'll admit that I'm a hypocrite, but also, at least I can say that I've cared about every girl I slept with, and that it was in a relationship. If they can tell me the same thing, I'm alright with it.

I've turned down "hot" girls before....because I barely knew them, and they were just being easy. I guess maybe I place too much value on sex? If it's easy to come by...it's not as valuable/meaningful, and I don't want it.
Plus, I'd rather not catch something...the more guys a girl has done, the better the chances are that she has something, right?

God I sound like a loser. Look at all those "I"s too.

The good thing though, is if I do sleep with a girl, at least we both know it means something to both of us, and I'm not using her for just sex and vice versa. It seems better that way.

2002-03-20 03:29:04 PM
I know know is spelled know not now.

2002-03-20 03:29:06 PM
I would be he uses the Ithaca College sluts (one of my friends was quite proud to be one...go figure) just as bad as any of the other Cornell blueblood assholes.

2002-03-20 03:29:28 PM
Raydr, I didn't say he was catholic for the hell of it, or to make fun of catholics. I mention it because I flipped through some of his other columns... it's kind of obvious that's where he's coming from. And huzzah for him.

And Huzzah for straight-edge:

"In recent years, a new and disturbing arrangement known as "friends with benefits" has emerged. In this arrangement, men are not even forced to perform the normal duties of boyfriends, i.e. flowers, Valentine's Day cards, rides to the abortion clinic, etc. Instead, girls consider these guys "just friends" whom they happen to screw every now and again. No strings, no attachments, no dinners. Just sex when they feel like it."

jesus....where can I meet these "friends"!

2002-03-20 03:29:51 PM
This is Cornell for you: The only thing crazier than Cornell left-wingers are Cornell right-wingers. Must have something to do with endless winter, hills, and gorges.

I have examples.

What a load of crap.

2002-03-20 03:30:14 PM
totally retarded

2002-03-20 03:30:24 PM
ScreamingInDigital: Yeah, I know, but I didn't want to turn this into a religious debate, or have to explain the differences between Atheist/Agnostic/etc....

A lot of people don't know what agnostic means, so I just always follow it with "(not religious)".

2002-03-20 03:30:37 PM
of course they're unpaid, because if you pay for it, it's illegal

2002-03-20 03:31:00 PM
i'm glad men have absolutely no part in this "whoring" of american women. girls are evil!

this guy's a goober.

*girl gone wild*

2002-03-20 03:31:07 PM

This

is the face of someone who ain't gettin' any.

2002-03-20 03:31:24 PM
He is definitely boring, prudish, and old-fashioned.

2002-03-20 03:31:41 PM
raydr: Isn't "straight-edge" the term that was used by that movement of people who are against sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. about two or three years ago? I remember watching videos of people who called themselves "straight-edge" beating the shiat out of someone for smoking.

Was that you?

2002-03-20 03:31:51 PM
I feel sorry for this guy's daughter.

2002-03-20 03:32:07 PM

is that same face big enough to see.

what's with the html?I included a link to all the idiots articles http://www.cornellreview.org/nsog.cgi

2002-03-20 03:32:43 PM
I paid in blood, sweat and tears for every "college girl" I slept with. "Unpaid" my ass. Then again I'm pretty ugly...

2002-03-20 03:32:51 PM
Raydr: I'm all about being able to look at yourself in the mirror. I wasn't trying to pass judgment on you. I happen to feel the same way about it as you do. I don't want to just fark whatever I can. (Anybody can get laid if they really want to, but it won't satisfy anything.) Thanks for the clarification.

2002-03-20 03:33:05 PM
This guy reminds me of this old creepy guy who would parade around Rutgers (the edumacational pride of NJ) shouting "True Love Waits For Marriage!" to anyone he saw. It always made for a great drunken debate when he was around on College Ave on Thursday nights.

2002-03-20 03:33:12 PM
His follow-up piece in which he admits he's "brilliant" and "has no fear" and is a "major farking asshole".

2002-03-20 03:33:17 PM
Okay, so I have to ask a question: Has this boy ever, ever, ever heard of flappers? No? How about the Roaring 20's, when everything he talked about existed, except for feminism in said state? Hmm?

I really hope he doesn't think this is a new thing.

2002-03-20 03:33:50 PM
This article gets my coveted Steaming Pile of Poo award for today.

Where are the men in this article, you hear about women going around having random sex, but doesn't mention the unpaid gigolos...

By defn a whore is someone who sex for money. So they are saying college girls are "someone who has sex for money for free". Makes lots of sense.

2002-03-20 03:34:24 PM
I brand my college whores with a hot crack pipe, but that's just me.

2002-03-20 03:34:47 PM
That's right, women always dressed prim and proper before those evil bra-burning feminazis corrupted the female gender.

Come to think of it, those darned suffragettes had that "womens' rights" crap going as well. See where giving women the vote got AMERICA?

*farking knob*

2002-03-20 03:35:12 PM
So?

2002-03-20 03:35:14 PM
I kept a starit face reading the thing until this:

Can the moral high ground ever be reclaimed?
Perhaps... one church pew at a time.

Hehe, that's gold.

2002-03-20 03:35:16 PM
Anyone have one of those lists from playboy of the colleges with the hottest women?

2002-03-20 03:35:54 PM
Like the title says, "No Shades of Gray". Sees the world in strictly black & white. He can't be too smart - he just thinks he is.

2002-03-20 03:36:17 PM
I really hate this "Men are weak and impulsive so women have to make them behave by never ever enjoying themselves" bullshiat. It degrades everyone.

2002-03-20 03:36:18 PM
kupek_: No...that's not quite me. I don't preach about drugs or alcohol or sex. I just won't date a girl like that, and I don't usually become good friends with people like that (unless they're really cool like my friend Mike...you stoner).

2002-03-20 03:36:33 PM
Good point Rosalea. This guy's just an arrogant presumptive bastard.

2002-03-20 03:37:08 PM
And here's to them! With this beautiful weather finally coming around the girls on my quad (Uni of Ill) are finally starting to wear next to nothing again... It's pretty refreshing.

2002-03-20 03:37:56 PM
"Many college women ... sleep with their boyfriends."

Say it isn't so!!!!

2002-03-20 03:38:11 PM
Raydr - Sometimes good guys don't wear white.

2002-03-20 03:38:50 PM
Digipimp, enough already.

10-1 odds this guy is actually the masturbator. Actually he's got a point, but he's forgetting that it's exciting for girls to get dressed up and go out and get wasted. In my experience, girls just like to get laid as much as guys do. That's what the world is coming to, and is anyone complaining?

Another point. This guy probably has a bug up his ass, because the girl he dreams about in his 300 level english likes to fark, but doesn't fark him. Most girls aren't that slutty. I mean slutty by high school standards, but not slutty by say 30 year old biological clock is ticking standards. Certain girls like the cock more than others, and of course it's always the exception to the rule that people report on.

I'm babbling, back to Urban Battle against the terror drones on Hikage Hill.

2002-03-20 03:40:40 PM
Raydr: I dunno, I don't try to press my morality on others in any form. Of course, my moral structure is pretty faulty according to many people, especially the religious.

I figure if a person can live with their actions, and they're not hurting someone else in the process, then they can judge themselves and live with the consequences.

2002-03-20 03:40:44 PM
'strait' face, that is.

2002-03-20 03:40:49 PM
I can't tell if this article is more insulting to women or men. Assuming that all men are cookie-cutter partners all just looking to get laid by whomever, whenever, wherever is an myth born in the seventies that is, thankfully, slowly dying and the younger generations (post-baby boomers) come to realize the possibilities born in a sexualy mature mind.

If I want to just get laid and both of us understand that it's a physical need, that's all it is. Sex isn't holy or sancrosanct or some God-blessed act. Everything that's alive has sex.

Conversely, the idea that "college girls" are all just a bunch of floozies looking to fulfull their teenage desires is also tiring. The SorrityGirl-FratBoy image is so stereotypically National Lampoon that basing an entire article expounding on moralistic dogma upon it is instantly discreditable.

Final prognosis: This guy is a virgin. Thank you.

2002-03-20 03:41:19 PM
UGHHHHH.. the Cornell Review. Quite possibly the most retarded, conservative Republican piece of biased shiat you can find in this area. We use it for rodent cage lining and fires. Not much else. Joseph Sabia, kiss my ass.

Don't believe a word of this article. These guys are trolls to the core. Only out for a reaction. And boy do they get it.

"Young men are awful and they have gotten worse over the years. And let me be clear Eyoung men are responsible for their own behavior. But women have historically been the civilizing forces for men. That is biological."

"Whenever men want to have sex, they just go ahead and do it."

So, if a man isn't brought up right morally, it's natural, but it's really bad if it's a women?

Arg.

2002-03-20 03:42:28 PM
God still loves you even if you are a slut. Jesus is coming, time is short. Put down your crack pipe and pick up your bible.

If it wasn't for the college whores,I would have never went to college..*Zing!*

2002-03-20 03:43:19 PM
Its a sad fact that for the most part, the price of pu$$y goes down, and the problems go up. We all know men will jump just about anytime sex is offered, and women are the ones in control of wether sex is gonna happen or not. When they give it away, theres little or no incentive for men to shape up, act right, and gain the trust/respect/admiration/affection/love of women. The result is a generation of adult boys who are unable to act like grownups, and share the burden of being a responsible parent or partner. Then theres the kids growing up without their father, boys who have no idea how to act as men, or girls who have no expectations from men when they become women. Another problem is that this behavior cuts out the decent, selective, monagamous women who cant get their share of male attention, because they wont give it up as easily, if at all.

Flame away all you like, the social mores of the past, fidelity, monagamy, chastity, did a much better job of civizing new generations then the "enlightened" values of the current society. While they werent perfect, they protected children and society to a greater degree.

Fun and easy sex is a great idea until you grow up and have kids of your own.

Quick summary of this article: Women are ditching the outdated Christian attitudes toward sex, and that completely goes against the outdated Christian attitudes toward sex. This, according to the outdated Christian attitudes toward sex, makes them whores and sluts and sinners and I'm getting all tingly thining about it and I'd better eat my cornflakes and wear baseball mitts on my hands and avoid looking directly at my genitalia I am so scared mommy help so scared Jesus.

Hyper-conservatives ALWAYS view the past with rose-colored lenses...they falsely believe that the whole God, 4 kids and a white-picket fence, clean living and apple pie era actually existed at one point, and not just in cheesey old films.

Hyper-liberals view the future with rose-colored lenses, falsely assuming that their policies will lead us to the Utopia they see on Star Trek.

The crazy shiat is this guy is a Ph.D. Read some of the other articles he's got on the site. Guaranteed at least one of them will offend you. Second to Fb-, he is the ultimate troll.

2002-03-20 03:46:24 PM
Kupek_: Really, to each his own. I am opinionated and will make comment to someone online, or if someone comes into my home and act/dresses in a way I don't exactly like. I won't do it on the street though.

It still works out for me though...
I am considered a slut, but I hate sluts. It's farked up, HOWEVER, it still works out, because:
That leaves more sluts for you, which keeps you busy while I get the nice moral girls and corrupt them.

Okay, now I'm a pig too. :)

Seriously, everyone has their preferences. Some people smoke, some don't. Some girls are easy, some aren't. Some swallow...nevermind.

2002-03-20 03:46:36 PM
The result of young women's abdication of responsibility has been significant moral decay on America's college campuses. Can the moral high ground ever be reclaimed? Perhaps...one church pew at a time.

BARF...

2002-03-20 03:46:38 PM
Help us help ourselves! You own us! We cannot say no to your womanly powers!

Er, something...

This guy must hate his own dick. Who does he think is having sex with all of these "whores"? Men of high moral character who cannot restrain themselves against the impulse of seeing women in "tight shirts and pants"? I'm a big fan of sex, but I can walk across a college campus without being overwhelmed by the Sodomites...

2002-03-20 03:46:48 PM
I can't believe New Age 80s Fonzie wrote all that!

2002-03-20 03:47:20 PM
Foodbunny:

I really hate this "Men are weak and impulsive so women have to make them behave by never ever enjoying themselves" bullshiat. It degrades everyone.

Sabia's position - that mean are weak, thus women must cover themselves up to protect the easily-corrupted mean - puts him in the same league as the Taliban. No hyperbole.

I have no problem with voluntary modesty. I do have issues with people who try to enforce a rather strict degree of dress to make up for his/her own lack of will.

Someone up the thread posted a link to Sabia's scintillating followup...

To the first class of readers, thank you. You are right; I am brilliant...and have no fear, I will always be on the front lines of the culture war.

Spoken like a true David Horowitz fanboy.

Those in the second group are simply misinformed. Not only has sexual activity become more prevalent, but the brazen way in which college kids proclaim their immorality from the mountaintops is breathtaking.

I realize that I wasn't alive 80 years ago, but why can't I shake the feeling Sabia's living in some Pleasantville-like 1950's dreamworld that never existed?

Anyway, I could not understand why a cultural article on the moral breakdown of women was appearing on a pro-labor mailing list...and then it hit me. COLA was upset that the whores were unpaid. Rallies for a "whore living wage" are likely right around the corner.

Nothing to do with the constant references to women in college as "whores", eh Tailgunner Joe?

2002-03-20 03:47:21 PM
If you include young men in this article, and tone down some of the extreme right-wingisms, I agree with this whole article. Yesterday's parents have not instilled responsibility and personal accountability into a large portion today's youth. But I'm probably the only one here who thinks this way.

Puckhead amen brother, you win the prize for accuracy on this thread

I feel somehow robbed of my youthful and innocent state of mind. I had no idea that such sluts roamed the earth looking for men with who they will fornicate with. My life as hopeful televangelist will never be without people to heal. Let me lay my healing hands on your body youthful college whore. Let me show you the error in your ways.

A: A slut will sleep with anyone. A biatch will sleep with anyone but you.

:o)

2002-03-20 03:52:48 PM
It should surprise no one that sexual activity has historically been more frequent among gay men than among heterosexuals. This is because there is no civilizing female force in the gay community. Whenever men want to have sex, they just go ahead and do it. Neither of the partners has much of an incentive to refrain from sex since monogamous relationships and traditional familes are generally not the final goals of these partnerships. Recently, the behavior of young heterosexuals has begun to resemble that of gay men because young women are imitating men in their sexual promiscuity.

It's not that he dosen't think men are sluts too, it's just that only gay men are sluts... Big ones, who can be walkng down the street holding hands, scaring children and small animals, and spontaneously start having sex in the middle of traffic! Potentially damaging the motor vehicles of hard working straight people, I might add...

And apparently they only 'go gay' to have lots of sex w/o any kind of commitment. 'Cuz gay people hate commitment and families.

Oh jesus christ, what flamebait.

"(2) Young women have turned away from God.

As women have strayed from the church, they have replaced what is holy with what is temporally pleasing. For Catholics, the model woman is Mary, the virgin Mother of God. She is beloved by the faithful for her unflappable devotion to and trust in God, her nurturing of the Son of Man, and her deep love for all humanity.

Today's college girl looks to Ally McBeal, the trollops of Sex in the City, and the floozies on Friends to set their moral compasses.

The sad truth is that college girls are so desperate to find love that they are willing to degrade themselves to get it. But true love can only be understood in the context of the Word of God. Any other notion of "love" is secular and, by definition, limited and finite."

Yay, so this guy's ideal woman is a virgin*, and he's pissed that the women around him are getting apparently lots more sex than he is. Where's the waahmbulance when you need it?

*OK, so she wasnt' really a virgin, and she lied and claimed to be. You can hardly blame her, given the culture at the time, but true, she technically was as virginal as Fb- is reputed to be. (It's an all or nothing thing, you know.)

Mrs. Cleaver: What are you going to do?

Beaver: We thought that'd we throw stones at all the sinning slut-whores and tell them that Baby Jebus hates them.

Mrs. Cleaver: Okay, Beav. Just make sure that you're home for dinner.

p.s. Does anyone else find it hilarious that the picture perfect whitebread family has a kid named "The Beaver"?

2002-03-20 04:00:40 PM
Personally I just think the mother from Carrie beat the crap out if this guy with a bible when he was a kid and never let him look at any "dirty pillows".

Seriously though, I'd give the guy a little bit more credit if he just took a general stance against premerital sex and didn't focus on the feminist movement. I personally am a supporter of feminism on all levels. For this guys to attack feminism is just asanine, because those women that he talks about who go out in tight pants and halter tops are not part of the feminist movement.

Did anyone see MTV's The Real World last night? Because I sure didn't. I would never watch MTV. But anyway, my friend watched it and told me that the chick on there slept with her roommate's friends when he was up visiting for the night. The article made me think about my friend telling me about what happened in the Real World episode. Anyway, I have tremendous respect for that chick on there but that show is terrible and I would never watch it.

2002-03-20 04:01:20 PM
Here's a joke:
Kid comes home from school one day and says to his dad "daddy I learned two new words today but I don't know what they mean." Dad says "Son, just tell me what they are and maybe I can help you understand" Kid says "but daddy, even though I don't know what they mean I do know that they are bad words and I don't want you to spank me" Dad says "It's ok this once to say it so I can teach you what the words mean" Kid says "ok.. the words are pVssy and biatch" Dad says "I think I can help you... come with me" They then walk upstairs when the boy's mom is getting out of the shower. The Dad then turns to the boy and says "see that hairy spot between your mother's legs? That's a pvssy... all the rest is biatch!"

2002-03-20 04:02:22 PM
And in fairness, I don't think utter sexual promiscuity is a good thing either, in women or in men. It's reckless and in general reflects a very short term view of life, pretending that there are no emotional ramifications involved in sexual behavior.

But it's still possible to be right (at least somewhat), for utterly incorrect reasons, which is what this guy is doing.

2002-03-20 04:03:18 PM

2002-03-20 04:04:47 PM
Jws755:

Someone nutty once said:

"Flame away all you like, the social mores of the past, fidelity, monagamy, chastity, did a much better job of civizing new generations then the "enlightened" values of the current society. While they werent perfect, they protected children and society to a greater degree.

Fun and easy sex is a great idea until you grow up and have kids of your own."

and then someone even nuttier came along and said:

"Don't mind if I do... I like fire. If you ask me, I would dare say that mathematics, Cheezewhiz, indoor plumbing and microwaves have done more to civilize the barbarian hordes than your Puritanical values and forcing people to live life contrary to the nature of the 'base human animal'.

In fact, many in the panteon of history's figures, heros and heroines were just as debaucherous, randy and lecherous as old Bacchus himself. The same holds true for the men and women of today... but, you know what, pal?

You do what you wanna' do, ya? Because while the rest of us are our there getting our groove on and making the world move with our nasty sexual energy, you can do all of those 'more important things' that have made today's society so special, like balancing your checkbook and mowing the lawn. Gosh. You're such an adult...

Oh yeah? Almost forgot... I double-dog dare you to throw the 'Baby on Board' card, mister... Comon' hot shot... Do it. Ya' know ya' want to."

2002-03-20 04:05:27 PM
Wait a minute--isn't feminism encouraging women to be lesbians?

Fun and easy sex is a great idea until you grow up and have kids of your own.

Sorry, d00d, but I'm grown up and have kids of my own, and I still think fun and easy sex is fantastic. (Fun and easy != irresponsible, of course, regardless of your marital or parental status.) If your sex life sucks because you've gotten old and boring, you have nobody to blame but yer own self.

Because he's not getting any, and the old "No man will want to marry you!" crap isn't scaring the college girls anymore. Apparently they've discovered sex is fun, so he can't just marry a virgin on the hopes that she'll therefore have no idea what a lousy lay he is.

2002-03-20 04:12:11 PM
I am torn on this one. On the one hand, he does have a point about sex being seen as a liberator rather than actual quality of life issues. I know some feminists probably see this and can see the glass ceiling lowering. Of course, this is the kind of feminism that the male population does seem to be in favor of. I fear that the males and females involved will face consequences down the road, and not just immediate consequences. They forget that the things you do now can haunt you decades later.

On the other hand, this guy, like a typical white male, looks back fifty years ago and says that things were better then. If you weren't white and male, things really sucked for you, but that's really not what we're talking about. The thing about the fifties was that while everything looked happy, it really wasn't, and that's why everything exploded in the 60's- people got tired of pretending they were happy.

2002-03-20 04:23:16 PM
Jws755: that whole "chastity" thing seems to be working just fine for the Catholic church these days, doesn't it.

The world SEEMS like a less moral place today because we're so much more in tune with it than we were 50 years ago. We know what's happening around the globe in an instant thanks to this here intar-web.

Fifty years ago, our government put all Japanese-Americans in camps because it didn't trust its own citizens - and most of the population agreed with the decision. On September 12, 2001, every newspaper editor in the nation ran a story warning of the dangers of stereotyping all Arab-Americans.

You can have your good old fashioned values. I'll keep them in mind if I run out of toilet paper.

2002-03-20 04:25:07 PM
Little winded, little lost in his rhetoric. But I can agree with him. Fine, call me old-fashioned, well, old-fashioned in that sense at least. Yeah, no shiat Zumba, of course it's generalized... when you approach any kind of social issue, generalizations are going to happen. Same will go for my post, it is generalized, I know this doesn't apply to everyone. But he does bring up an interesting point... since when have we been valuing our liberation based on sexual encounters? To me that just doesn't make sense. I personally think that "sleeping around" does alot of damage to you in the end, both physically and psycologically. Now saying that, I know that I've alienated about 97% of the people who read this stuff, but hey...

I also don't think he was claiming that men have no part in this problem, the main point of this artcile to explore the issue from the single x-chromosome side of things. Just limiting the scope, it's a writing process, not necassarily an underhanded tactic. That's why he goes out of his way to say "Young men are awful and they have gotten worse over the years. And let me be clear - young men are responsible for their own behavior." The point is that men have been assholes concerning this facet of society for a long while. (I can say that, right? I mean, I'm a guy...) What's startling (and what he's specifically addressing) is the fact that there's this new trend of women who not only feel that they gain power both socially and emotionally by sleeping around, but that it's necassary in order for you to be liberated from the patriacal society...
That's just sad if you ask me. In all these happenings, sex is becoming something you use. Even a century ago, sex was a sacrifice, you giving yourself to someone else. Nowadays, it's you using your partner for pleasure. Making love is not supposed to be a recreational sport.

I may be one of the lone voices in saying that, but that's truly how I feel.

(digs heels in for the you're not gettin' any jokes)

Sex is not bad.
Or Dirty, or filthy, or unnatural. What is wrong with these people? If you don't like the sex, don't have the sex.

2002-03-20 04:26:16 PM
"Why are women "whores" and "sluts" while men are just being men? Aren't men unpaid whores too (or at least wish they could be)?"

Women are considered whores when they engage in promiscious activity not because of an oppressive, patriarchal regime, but purely because of bio-anthropological reasons.

When a man engages in non-commital sex, he risks losing nothing (leave STDS out of this one, I'm going somewhere :)). In a primal world, he does stand to gain, however, a child. Care for the child is irrelevant to him, because why spend years which could be spent having virtually dozens of children, out of which one would guess that at least 1/5th would survive just with their mother, pampering just one individual fruit of the loins which could turn out to be deficient in someway and therefor useless in terms of reproduction?

The woman, on the other hand, can have only one child at an extended amount of time. Being promiscuous gains her nothing...being monogamous guarantees her a degree of care and safety for her child which can't be provided through simple booty calls.

Society often, if not always, creates its ideals and morals around things that are healthy for it, and condemns as deviant those that aren't. Therefor, it seems obvious that our society would call women who get it on a lot sluts, and yet condone, if not encourage men who engage in the same activity. Whether or not this is RIGHT is irrelevant; it's the way it is. I would expect that these morals will gradually change with the introduction of birth control, and in an enviroment where exclusively brawn and wits no longer dictate survival. Unfortunately, they're not going to change fast enough for some more enlightened women, which is shiatty, but true.

2002-03-20 04:26:53 PM
Spoken like a fellow who everyone knows as a tiny little penis. Don't worry, bucko, Jeebus loves you, even if the whores snicker at your miget equipment and the rest of the unwashed heathen think you're a prize winning jerk.

ok - before anyone wastes any more breath: I go to the same school as this guy. this link is the website version of the most asinine (haven't figured out how to paste tags yet. . .) publication on campus. joe sabia is a complete tool, in the most severe sense of the word, and you should not waste your breath even talking about him. the motto of the damn paper is 'WE DO NOT APOLOGIZE', so don't expect to get anywhere with him if you even bother emailing him. (though i wouldn't stop you from subscribing him to gay porn mailing lists: jjs10[nospam-﹫-backwards]llenroc*edu)
last year, some of his buddies were caught chalking stuff outside the african-themed dorm to tear it down and other racist crap. half this campus recycles the cornell review before bothering to read it, the other half reads it, laughs, and then proceeds to wipe it's collective asses with it before recycling it. if you want further demonstration of what jackoffs joe sabia and his cronies are, just peruse the site a little more.

I think any person that uses the excuse "But I was druuuuunk!" to justify stupid behaviour is a sad, pathetic little person, boy or girl.

Promiscuous sex is well and good.

However to think that people can engage in promiscuous sex without any consequences is simple sophistry at best and outright lying at worst.

Every action has a consequence, whether it be the frustration of monogamy or the empty feeling that happens when he/she doesn't call back after a one-nighter.

Regards.

What a dicksmack. He should find a Rules Girl and slither out into the sunset. Oh yeah, the chick who wrote The Rules got a divorce, so I guess that rhetoric didn't work so well.

I had to deal with idiots like this when I worked on my college newspaper. The columnists would come in with all of their lofty ideas and bad grammar, and we would all just print it to fill up the editorial space, and laugh at them.

This guy got dumped hard by his True Love, and she went off and farked his best friend or some shiat like that.

I got to this point in the article...

"(2) Young women have turned away from God."

...and realised I was reading the rantings of a madman. I wish him good luck in attempting to shape the world into his ideal religious fantasy where nudity and sex are bad.

religious nutbag.

TennesseeBuck: i had a feeling someone was gonna call me on that. basically their take on the whole thing was that the selection for people living in that dorm was based on race, which it isn't, at all. that particular dorm just happens to be occupied by a significant proportion of people of african descent because those tend to be the people who want to involve themselves in african-themed things. what it ended up boiling down to was that they were very pissed that there isn't a matching dorm for white people, so instead of proposing that, they did those chalkings. it seemed racist to me because any research on the matter would have quickly shown that there really wasn't an issue where they were making one. plus the cornell review doesn't like black people in general.

So, if the title of the article is, "College Girls : Unpaid Whores", then am I to believe that this gentleman's biggest beef is that these girls are not getting paid for being sluts?
The guy has a point. These women should "empower themselves" even more by insisting that there is proper compensation for "giving up the pink".
It would also prepare these naive college boys for life later on, where whoring, in one form or another, is commonplace.

biatch, where's my money!

However to think that people can engage in promiscuous sex without any consequences is simple sophistry at best and outright lying at worst.

ALL sex, promiscuous or otherwise (and who defines promiscuity?) has actual and potential consequences. Anyone who does not accept and prepare for this has no business being out in the world without adult supervision.

"But why is it liberating for a college-age woman to jump into bed with a man that is not her husband? Why is it freeing to become intoxicated and to hook-up with anonymous frat guys? Why is it an expression of equal rights to give into men's animalistic instincts?"

-- 'cause the man's not married
-- 'cause they can afford to buy the beers
-- damn, always the woman's fault. I'm sure if we never
gave in, they'd never have animalistic instincts

Where I am from we call a guy like this a TOOL!

This guy is the biggest pseudo-intellectual I've seen in a long time. He actually wears his pompousness on his face for the world to see. The kind of guy who your frend would crouch behind while you push him over, and then he would get a bunch of college degrees and become some kind of power broker, attorney, politician and crave the kind of financial/political authority to try and impress everybody.

I pity this man's children and wife if he ever gets laid!

THIS is a man who owns too many Precious Moments figurines.

I like where he says that young men are responsible for their actions, but really, girls have historically kept them in line, they are biologically programmed to keep them in line, the bible says women keep men in line, so really, strike that, women are responsible for the behavior of men.

"But women have historically been the civilizing forces for men. That is biological. Moreover, several verses in the Scriptures refer to the important role that women have in the moral uplift of men." So nevermind that first point, I take it back, you are all responsible for me you hussies. If I stick my dick in someone it is her fault, and my wife's.

Nevermind that it isn't biological AT ALL to not want sex, otherwise there would be no reproduction except through rape. Dumbass.

Jeezis, what a load of bullsh*t!

If a guy has many partners, he's a hero, if a woman has many partners, she's a whore or a slut. Why are so many men so threatened by female sexual freedom? That's all it is, simple fear. They're afraid that if a girl has something to compare it to, she'll know how small his penis really is! And his brain, for that matter. So they call names like elementary school kids, but if one of these girls comes along, will they zip it up? No way!

But we don't talk about that part of it, it's just a guy sowing his wild oats.

I love to read this stuff. Retards like this Sabia fella make me feel better about myself. I get laid, have a high respect for myself and women, and let people 'out there' do whatever they please. Who is it hurting, Sabia? I sense a great need to troll, hate women, or hate himself. Poor bastard needs to come out of the closet or at least realize the distance between the pew and his arsehole is not an indicator of morally. 'Priests molesting children' anyone?

PS I read EVERY post before this too, and some of you dudes and ladies are freaking hysterical. Some of the bashing of this dude had my eyes watering it was so funny.

Peace

2002-03-20 05:24:03 PM
You guys need to understand the background on Sabia. (I went to Cornell so I know all about the guy.) He is a gay Republican (such creatures do exist, don't ask me why). He is supposedly "special friends" with Matt Drudge, who is also gay as most of you probably know. I now live in DC and saw Sabia and Drudge together walking near Dupont Circle. They certainly looked like they had a very "close" relationship.

Anyway, he has devoted his life to being a sort of semi-closeted gay Tucker Carlson type. Nay, he's more annoying even than Carlson. He's the campus equivalent of a chatroom troll. People in Ithaca/Cornell have pretty much stopped paying attention to him. He was pretty much disgraced when he accused a female Mexican student who was badly beaten by a mob w/ baseball bats, of having made the whole thing up. Supposedly even his friends won't be seen with him now.

Like fellow gay Repubs Drudge, David Brock, (and I suspect, Bob Barr and aforementioned "Butt"Tucker Carlson), Sabia seems to be an unrepentent misogynist. Look at his archived columns and see if you can find one nice thing about a woman in there.

Well, he's going to have to leave Cornell if and when he gets his PhD. Colleges usually have a policy of not allowing a person to get a job in the same place where they received their doctorate. Of course, this guy's gonna have a problem getting a job because he didn't go anywhere else to get his subsequent degrees. Even if he is at an Ivy.

Oh yeah, and the fact that he's an asshole is a factor, too.

Frogconcept:
"The woman, on the other hand, can have only one child at an extended amount of time. Being promiscuous gains her nothing...being monogamous guarantees her a degree of care and safety for her child which can't be provided through simple booty calls."

Actually, it's not quite that simple. Recent studies of the sexual habits of other primates suggest a much more complex arrangement. Females seem to seek out a "provider male," one who can give stability and care for the young. She then gives this male lots and lots of sex, for the purpose of keeping him around. But she doles out this sex at times when she's highly unlikely to become pregnant.

Whe she IS likely to become pregnant, she is far more likely to go out trolling for a "booty call," and now she's looking strictly for a physically impressive specimen. She then dupes the "provider male" into believing that the offspring is his, so that he will help care for/protect it.

In societies where females were previously thought to be monogamous, the rate of "illegitimate" offspring was found to be close to 35%.

But all of this is beside the point. For one thing, casual sex isn't bad if it isn't done irresponsibly (protection, etc.). For another, most people who engage in such sex will eventually tire of it, at which point they will seek out a more stable, loving relationship.

I know lots of people who drank extremely often and extremely heavily in college, and "got that out of their system." After college, they rarely even drink, choosing to espouse a more stable lifestyle.

When you're young, you're SUPPOSED to act impulsively much of the time.

Now go out and fark like rabbits!

He lost me with the God stuff. Ok, and the whore stuff. Something tells me this guy is a "waiting-til-marriage" Catholic, and girls with t-shirts shake his resolve as they shake their booty. Amen.

Well said. He's one of those mislead maniacs who firmly believes that a person cannot make any intelligent decisions--pertaining to sex--without the intimidating specter of his angry God.

Oh, and another obvious issue--he holds women responsible for promiscuous sex but not men...as if they cannot help themselves. Freak.

2002-03-20 06:21:32 PM
I didn't have time to read every comment, but i see they are mostly thinking this guy is a fool.

you don't have to like his religous reasons, but think about the results for a second. Everyone who's a responsible adult should know not to have sex with anything willing in sight. that's foolish, and can only cause problems. Sex does mean something in a relationship, at least until you are so jaded (some would say scarred) to sex-and-run that you don't notice your heart any more. This is true for my girl friends, especially - but that doesn't mean guys aren't this way.

I know I don't hold a popular opinion here, but I really believe that sex should wait until you've got a meaningful relationship - and by meaningful I mean ready for commitment. Seriously - for those of you who aren't screwed up out there, doesn't it sound nice to fall in love, get married, and have sex with your girl for the first time for both of you?

i remember a thread or two ago someone mourned not being able to have sex with a virgin, ever. Someone else has got STD's. Another thread, someone is on their fifth wife. AIDS and other STD's are killing people, or really messing people up. families are broken up...and people don't see anything wrong with all the pain it causes...(think of the children...sorry i couldn't resist, but this time maybe it fits). It didn't used to be this way. These days though.... I guess you want your freedom, I guess you want your choice.

This trend bothers me. And no i'm not a middle-aged geezer. i'm 20. at college. plenty of whores, sluts, plenty of nice girls too who might be willing. I could have sex with my girlfriend if i wanted, and all the boobies (D-cup, too...) I want...but I chose to wait. That's just me.

Guess I'm "behind the curve" on this topic.

Important note: The Cornell Review is not the student paper of Cornell. It is a reactionary right-wing rag put out by the campus Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom (all 6 of them).

Cornell does have an excellent student-run daily, The Cornell Daily Sun

Yow, this guy is already a cranky old man and he's still in college! Religious nutbag only begins to describe this piece of work.

Boo Radley, Saraland, Alabama

2002-03-20 06:27:30 PM
El Bulbil has it right. There is a certain cockroach-like species of gay Republican that just can't stand females (oh, and add Andrew Sullivan to that list) and likes to tsk-tsk about how gay men, other than themselves of course, are promiscuous.

From a Biblical POV, his argument is ridiculous. Genesis makes it clear that, in matters of morality, women drag men down rather than lifting them up. The women-as-gatekeeper mentality is part of the secular Enlightenment; the Church for centuries held to the view that women were not to be trusted because of their inability to say no.

2002-03-20 06:28:11 PM
Dave_bsr: I resent the idea that every time casual sex occurs, or a divorce happens, or someone gets an STD it's the woman's fault because guys are too weak-willed and women aren't supposed to enjoy sex.

Don't want casual sex? Fine, don't have it. I'm not into casual sex either, but that doesn't give me the right to biatch at people who do, it to say that an entire farking GENDER isn't allowed to want sex and it's their farking DUTY to withold it.

2002-03-20 06:28:20 PM
"I'm not religious, I just don't want a girl that's used, I don't want your nasty smoke staining my walls/property, I don't want to hear the excuse "I farked him because I was high/drunk, it didn't mean anything.". I just happen to like moral, clean, down to earth women. Quit confusing it with religion."

confusing what with religion..Hypocrisy ? A used woman ?!?!?!, try speaking of/to her as a person not a thing. Everyone is the SUM of their experiences not the other way around. How does a relationship someone had, devalue a relationship you could have ?? While I can't find a single fault with you goals, the rationalizations you use are rather sickening and shallow.

2002-03-20 06:28:47 PM
Dave_bsr

I wasn't actually condemning his viewpoints on abstinence so much as his moronic comments regarding the lack of responsibility men have. I don't have a problem with people who choose to abstain, certainly--there is the issue of STD's and unwanted pregnancy, after all. But I also don't have any issue with people who want to sleep around--as long as they're using protection and birth control.

But yeah, I do find it very insulting that he doesn't give anyone enough credit to make wise decisions in regards to sex without spiritual guidance. It's very silly.

2002-03-20 06:33:24 PM
Foodbunny ...yes, thank you. Very well said. The man is fond of sweeping generalizations. Like I mentioned earlier, there's no logic in condemning an entire gender to some sort of "noble" abstinence. What kind of crap is that?!

Back to work.

2002-03-20 06:38:28 PM
"Women are evil."

Old news.

Even the Bible got it right: "A good woman is rarer than pearls." Somethng like that.

Separate the wheat from the chaff and decriminalize prostitution already.

2002-03-20 06:39:22 PM
20 yrs later and this guy's still pissed that he wasn't born a girl.

2002-03-20 06:41:15 PM
The reason religion is brought into this is because it is the original moral standard for all. Religion used to be the fabric of the society.
I find myself agreeing with this guy. I don't condone the similar activities for men either. The woman has a great deal or responsibility for helping to create a family unit, which is the basic unit for people to survive. Promiscuity creates a totally different thing...a society bereft of happy families, responsibility, divorce, and unhappiness.
This is just what I've observed to be true. I'm a only 21 years old, unmarried. I don't have casual relationships. I've slept with a few girls, but only after I'd decided that she was a possible cadidate for complete committment. I realize this is not a foolproof method of selection, but so far, it's worked for me.

2002-03-20 06:42:23 PM
Dave_bsr

Just because someone thinks this guy is a moron, do not assume that means that person endorses farking everything with two legs.

I think most people here object to his high-horse rhetoric, holier-than-thou attitute, misogyny, and general assholishness.

2002-03-20 06:46:15 PM
He's got a couple points, like how being liberated and equal are somehow equated with being sluts. If I tell a slut not to be, it's probably not 'cause I'm being paternatlistic or trying to enforce patriarchal rule, but just 'cause I'd hope someone gets a little self-esteem.

But then, you can be a sexual creature and value yourself, God or not.

2002-03-20 06:47:04 PM
I agree with Dave_bsr

2002-03-20 06:47:12 PM

nothing like some bible-thumping to ruin an otherwise interesting point.

2002-03-20 06:51:11 PM
I've slept with a few girls, but only after I'd decided that she was a possible cadidate for complete committment.

In other words, you're a slut and so were the women you slept with. If they were such great candidates for marriage, why didn't you wait until the marriage?

I just happen to like moral, clean, down to earth women.

...who will fark you, when you've decided that they're not slutty enough to be beneath you.

Is anyone else as amused as I am about how boys like the ones quoted above draw their lines?

Bigtuna......

Jws755: that whole "chastity" thing seems to be working just fine for the Catholic church these days, doesn't it.
(Actualy, it works fine for the vast majority of priests, although I am not catholic)

[Thanks for using a sweeping generalzation in an attempt to dismiss my point of view. Its my general view, not specific to ever person on the planet. ]

The world SEEMS like a less moral place today because we're so much more in tune with it than we were 50 years ago. We know what's happening around the globe in an instant thanks to this here intar-web.

[I maintain that the world IS a less moral place now that it was 50 years ago. Racist policies against groups does not mean EVERYONE agreed at the time. Im not asking you to agree with me, only consider an alternative position.]

Have I experienced all that fun, carefree sex in my college days? Sure did, plenty of it. More sex than you could likely imagine. Near everything thats in that penthouse Fourm you have stashed under your bed. Even now those opportinities come up, and I decline. I have learned that its much more satisfying in MY life to elevate sex to something more than just recreation. Simply because this guy had some valid points doesnt mean I adhere to everything he wrote.

[Is there a place for premarital sex? Maybe, given a responsible context, where the decision making process is a little more complex than ordering a pizza. I think its a lot to ask to keep everyone from having sex till they get married at 26 or whatever the average age is, but to banish any semblence of respect or affection from sex is immature and childish. ]

You can have your good old fashioned values. I'll keep them in mind if I run out of toilet paper.

[Ignore my values, I dont ask you to adhere to them. I can only say that I would anticipate your outlook will change over the years. Mine certanly did. ]

> men do the same thing. Is it their lack of god in thier life that has lead
> them to that bed, or their reproductive nature?
> Thanks for recieving my end,
His response:I would respectfully suggest that the "awful taste in your mouth" is that
of guilt. Deep down, you know that sleeping around is immoral and not
liberating. You know it because your conscience tells you so. You get
emotional and angry at my writing because it speaks to your conscience.

I guess the real test of whether I am right will come the next time you
have the opportunity to be with another guy. If my words flood back in
your head, then I struck a cord with something inside you. If not, then
so be it. I guess you can dismiss me as the evil, sopbox guy.

But I sense that you are a smart, strong woman. And I think that you
deserve better than what most girls are willing to accept.

Joe

Mythago, I think what these guys and, myself personally, are looking for is someone with whom sex can be a special act between the two of them. It certainly doesn't have to be in the context of marriage, but knowing the person to the degree where there is some actual passion in the sexual relationship (as opposed to simple lust) is the goal here. I'm sure you'd find the sex to be better if you gave your relationships a little time to develop before jumping in the sack/backseat/airport restroom.

Jeff, are you humor-impaired today or deliberately missing the point?

I'm not mocking people who prefer "commited" sex. I'm mocking people who carefully draw their lines so they are the Golden Mean. Insist on stricter standards than they do, like marriage, and you're a fool or a prude; have looser standards, and you're a slut who probably isn't having very good sex anyway.

Or, if you're still not following: People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

What an ass. So a girl has had some sex. Using sexual experience as a measuring stick for sizing up women -- even using it to say that one wants a virginal type because that must mean she's more "moral" -- is the same as that old "what's that mass of flesh attached to a pussy?" joke. It ignores the rest of the person.

It's cool that most of the guys here recognize that he's a dick though. I fully expected to find 200+ posts of "Yep, the dude's right. They're all filthy sluts." I was pleasantly surprised by most of the responses.

I hope the few guys who are talking shiat on this board meet a smart, beautiful, funny, caring, loving, nurturing, sweet goddess who happens to have been with a few other guys before they met, so they can find out what is really important.

I'm sure you'd find the sex to be better if you gave your relationships a little time to develop before jumping in the sack/backseat/airport restroom.

You missed Airplane restroom. Comitted sex anywhere doesn't compare with the feel of something new.

TurdL, you know that guys who post snippy comments about how sex is sooo much better when you're IN LUV either a) haven't had much sex or b) haven't had sex with anyone other than a few women, with whom they convinced themselves they were IN LUV so they didn't feel guilty about doing the deed.

Trollops? Floozies?! What time machine did this guy fly in on?

This thread is interesting -- I expected a few more people who agreed with this a$$wipe. Good to see so many open minds around here. That's what I like about Fark -- as someone said, you "keep your minds open, but not so open that your brains fall out."

This moron did drop one line that sorta made sense within all the cr@p -- the idea of women being a civilizing force for men. I don't agree with it in the way he says -- all that business about women using sex as a control -- but rather in a nicer way. My dad mentioned this very thing a while back. He believes that without women around, men would be savages. He uses the violence reputedly going on in the "Wild" West, when the ratio of men to women was huge. He says men were shooting and killing everything in sight. When women came in, schools, churches and businesses other than bars and whorehouses were built. Think about it, guys? How many of you are more polite when women are present? I swear like a sailor, but I personally like it when men apologize for swearing around me. I consider it a sign of respect.

As far as everything else this guy said, PFHHT. He's an idiot. I have sex because I like it. A lot. This guy has a problem with that? He thinks women should deny their urges for dignity's sake, while men can do whatever they want? Tough $#!+. Maybe when he finally gets some, he'll feel differently. BTW, what woman p!ssed in his Cheerios?

2002-03-20 07:41:03 PM
All I really require is an elegant, ravishing, witty, tasteful, and charming woman in company, and an absolute foul mouthed, sweaty, scratching, gushing, and thrashing whore in bed.

2002-03-20 07:42:52 PM
Oh please. If having an orgasm is the most important thing to you, then congratulations! Things must be terribly easy for you. However, wanting more from a relationship does not mean you've got some sort of fear of sex or even that your inexperienced. For some people who haven't become too terribly bitter and cynical with long-term relationships, there just happens to be a much more rewarding experience to be pursued than blowing your damn load.

Only the naive believe love and sex and commitment are related. The wise know it is just a game anyway and that venereal diseases, abortions, bastards, broken families, and multiple divorces are the trappings of an intelligent, sophisticated people.

Jws755: I absolutely respect your right to believe what you want to believe, and I'm not trying to change your mind in the least. My point, admittedly a harsh one, was that "declining morality" is more myth than fact. Looking back at it I realize my post was a little scatterbrained and I didn't really complete my thought: I think many of the "immoral" things that people do today were done back then as well. The only difference is that as a society we've progressed to the stage of being able to talk about it openly, rather than repress it. For every negative consequence you may perceive, there is also a positive one. For instance, now that sex is openly discussed in our society, pornography has increased. Some consider that bad because they believe it's immoral. But conversely, rape victims are also more likely to come forward to accuse their attacker. And I think all would consider that good, with the exception of serial rapists perhaps. You take the bad with the good, and I think society's still ahead of the curve.

I guess the concept of "immorality" strikes a nerve with me for two reasons, the first being that it's so often tied to lack of religion, and the second being that morality is in the eye of the beholder and is therefore a judgement. If you were to say that I'm immoral, that's a judgement call. And there is only one person in my life that I allow to pass judgement on me. And His name is Frank Stallone.

Sexmitten: save yourself the trouble in the future. Anyone who believes the church can solve society's problems isn't going to see the light anytime soon. He's not worth arguing with.

My favorite women:

Before:

"I smoke, I'm overweight, I have the morals of an alleycat, I cuss and drink like a sailor, I have 2 "tats," and I love my piercings. I hate religion and any kind mind-numbing orthodoxy and I love all that counterculture sex-stuff!"
After:
"How come some nice guy doesn't want to marry me? All I get are assholes!"

The truth is that women actually lose power by becoming tramps. When they give away one of their main sources of bargaining power in a relationship - sex - men gain total power by achieving everything they want...free sex with no obligation.

You're not supposed to TELL them this. Doh!

Something tells me this guy is one step away from coming out of the closet. Isn't there a joke about a whore is a chick who sleeps with everyone and a slut is a chick who sleeps with everyone but you?

I was a Republican in college, and I didn't act anything like this. I was after as much poon as I could get. Of course, my underdeveloped social skills and poor taste in clothes and music (Howard Jones, f'r crissakes?) kept the female population safe from my ravages.

Good point - did you notice as well his complete lack of historical perspective ("In an earlier era, ...")? HA-ha. hmm. or is that "lack of a complete historical perspective".. damn dislexicity.

btw, he looks like that guy playing Owen Wilson's cokehead friend in the royal tenenbaums. or his brother. creepily so!

Raunchola: Yeah, I was thinking that every time i saw his face..."hey! that guy looks like Scott Stapp." I don't think Stapp holds his views, though...

I am also suprised that i didn't get flamed quite a lot more than I did...more faith in Fark from me i guess. To clarify myself a bit: Yeah, this guy is retarded when he claims that women have to make up for men's inability to control themselves, and that it is the woman's fault(!!!) that people have sex. Guys have been stupid for so long i guess this guy doesn't realize they should do better.

But - i do think it is sad where a lot of my friends are now, because they did have sex with just about anyone, and they got really hurt. Sometimes it pays to think about it a bit..and maybe not have sex, given the chance. (Duh, you know all that i know...well most of y'all.)

And yeah, I know that sex with a virgin might be relatively boring...but if it's _your_ first time, too, then apply the following proverb: "Tremendous enthusiasm can usually make up for a lack of experience, at least in the short term." dont' know where i heard it, but its true.

Are you collectively retarded? Every woman who has posted a comment has said he is blaming women and giving a free ride to men. Go read the rest of his columns. He is saying people are responsible for their own actions and the actions they are taking are weaking them and society. In fact, I think it's the theme of every farking one of his columns (there are some others that are amusing). Also it makes you look bad when the only thing you say about someone is "You must not be getting any because you are a loser" or to question their sexuality. I don't agree with this guy a bit but half of your arguments should have embrarassed yourself.

Maybe I blame women too because the most retarded posts came from the women who said they should be able to have sex with whomever they please -- his point is that you do, and the way in which you exercise that right makes you weak in his eyes. It devalues you in the same way it devalues the men who make that decision. In his next column, he clarified the responsibility of men.

Whatever. I'm a pretty decently liberal and don't agree with this guy. Just because you dont agree with someone doesnt mean they "arent getting any" or are "gay."

"Mythago wrote:

To the couple who quoted me and/or made derogatory comments about me: I stated my opinion, explained why I felt that way, and did so in a proper manner. If you cannot hold a civil discussion about a topic that is obviously very controversial, I suggest you stay out of it or go learn some manners.

Putting people down because of their views does not make you look better than them. I in no way implied that I am better than anyone. I implied and specifically STATED that I like CLEAN GIRLS. If liking clean girls makes you feel beneath me, that is obviously a personal problem on your end.

2002-03-20 11:13:43 PM
Hey, I don't have a problem with this fact. I'm going to college in a year.

But then again, it's hard to hold any type of close relationship with a girl like that. I just can't get close to a girl who doesn't respect her own sexuality enough to refrain from screwing every guy she meets.

2002-03-20 11:31:01 PM
I have to go with comments like those of
03-20-02 03:47:21 PM Random Rampage
and
03-20-02 04:25:07 PM Hazed_blue.

Oh, and 'Yes', this guy is such an arrogant ass he makes me look nice.
But then, there is nothing more insufferable than someone who is right.
There is a growing breed of woman out there who think that equality means they now have license to be as bad as the worst of men.
Some act like they deserve to have the added rights of equality without the added responsibilities. Like they have, somehow, earned the powers traditionally bestowed upon men, while insisting on retaining the perogatives traditionally reserved for 'the weaker sex'. Not! You sisters now have to be honest, accountable, rational, productive, stedfast and honorable. (Sucks, dosen't it?)
An entire generation of women, and men, are being raised with riches and freedoms, but no mores, morals or ethics. Yes, many of the old rules and practices were bad and wrong. "If something is broken, fix it now!" But do not abandon all rules without any replacement. "If it ain't broke, leave it the hell alone!" This has become a society severely lacking in manners. Without manners all that is left is strength against strength in a chaotic melee. Right now, women have the upper hand. "We have half the money and all the pussy!" And, they are having a fun time with it. A woman's beauty can be a terrible and easily misused strength. Soon, I expect, men will tire of being gentleman-victoms and retaliate with their strength. Why should men continue to be gentlemen when women will not be ladies?

2002-03-20 11:53:07 PM
Two words for you people: Camille Paglia.

She might disagree with his methodology, but his conclusions are pretty similar. A woman has every right and responsibility to flaunt it and use it to get what she wants, but she's a fool if she gives it away. And when she finally realizes she does indeed want marriage, she's going to regret her actions...

2002-03-21 12:00:34 AM
Can the moral high ground ever be reclaimed? Perhaps¡¦one church pew at a time.

Eh, what's to say that bringing these girls into church is going to change their ways? The way I see it, there would just be more sex (heterosexual, that is) in the church than there is now.

Joseph J. Sabia must take it in the ass. Just my thoughts.

2002-03-21 12:19:53 AM
look, I hardly think there is anyone (well, there are some, but I doubt they've put much thought into it) here arguing that completely reckless, no-meaning-at-all, just-an-animal-act sex is any good at all. I'm certainly not, and I think this guy is a dangerous buffoon. (Well, only dangerous if the people with power would listen to him. Which fortunately, they won't - on this issue anyway.

But he demeans the entire human race by his argument - first, that men in general are basically barbaric maroons willing to stick it in any available orifice, and secondly that women are somehow responsible for behavior taken on jointly by themselves and by men. Both of these arguments are pernicious and silly, and neither deserves any better hearing than it got from even the most juvenile "d00d thi5 guy is teh ghey" comment above.

the argument here isn't about whether casual sex is, on balance, a stupid decision for all involved. We all know it is - time to move on. The point is that this guy has reached that conclusion by patently ridiculous means (actually, declaredly irrational means, if you're willing to give faith as much weight in his excuse for an argument as he does), and that in the process of reaching a somewhat-almost-right conclusion for completely the wrong reasons, has managed to disparage both men and women on a grand scale.

No one's made at this clown for saying people should be careful about sex. We're pissed at him for being such an asshole about it, especially when his foundation is so utterly lacking.

People just need to mind thier own business. That is what is fundamentally wrong with this world.

I would agree "minding one's own business" is what is fundamentally what is wrong with the world. It's like everything else... "Oh, I'm just one person [insert 'I wont make a difference' comment here]." The "minding of one's own business" is also something that's kept us out of things such as wars (i.e. World War II until it became our business with Pearl Harbor). Granted, at times, one can over step one's bounds and make something that really isn't one's business their's...thus creating a mess. However, most things enjoy the ideal of moderation.

03-20-02 04:31:42 PM Marshall
I hate these church fuks. Let's keep equating morals with church! Because only Jeebus can give us morals, right?

I think the general idea is this (in my opinion of course): We're all just a bunch of chemicals interacting with each other, there's nothing like a "soul." Of course then there's the arguement that you really can punish someone who's "just acting on their random chemical interactions" without seeming like an oppressive son of a --. In a general concept, one could consider the idea that having a God gives there a reason for having real, solid morals. Without a God, well.. you die. End of story. No real big impact for you, is there? Sort of like the idea: "Oh, I'll be dead by then, I don't give a damn if my children suffer polluted water, air or otherwise upside down horrible conditions of life."

Nanookanano, I must say...
A-fscking-MEN! Chivalry is dead and trollops (favorite new word) killed it.

This I agree with in regards to chivalry. While the past had its own faults, just like today we have our own, terms like 'chivalry,' 'honor,' 'truth'... theoretically they meant something back then. Today... 'Honor system' gets taken advantage of left and right, lying and criminal acts aren't wrong as long as you aren't caught...

Well, like all posts this is an opinion. I wont say I know everything. I wont even say that my theories on the past actually having meaning are correct (as, oddly enough, the more I learn about the past, the more I see it reflected in the present). However, I must agree in regards to the criticism to this article... It's rather demeaning to one's self to attack another's sexuality or religion. I think it's more mentally challenging to read the entire article and point out real parts in it that you disagree with. After all... if I wanted to be so simple, I could have just written a post here saying: "You're all stupid... uh... yeah."

2002-03-21 02:10:18 AM
This kind of sad thing gets passed around every few years, and each generation sees it. This country has been going to hell in a hand basket since Plymouth rock, and there has always been some young fire-brand to take up the ruling junta's position for the chance to get a crack at their daughters. Men have been weak-willed and girls have been easy since...forever. We have always had the penises, and girls have had the gates of heaven--or whatever euphimism you prefer--and we have plied the ladies with liquor and song to get them to give it up--that is a convienent myth for folks who want to keep women in their place. Women enjoy sex--or at least most do if you're doing it right--and men enjoy having sex with women who enjoy having sex. Some men enjoy the hell out of greased up knothole too, but that is a matter of taste. What is sad is that our hero will be reviled in his school for the article by most, but the few who aren't may actually want to give up their precious gifts to him, and THAT is the crux of the article. How to get laid by prissy types who have the money and influence he desires. It's a good ploy, but it's old, tired, and any father with half a brain will see through his ruse. What's sad is that this is exactly the kind of thing that every generation has had to deal with. Twain's generation was the worst, the Lost generation was the most reviled of the time, George Washington's generation was loose moraled and wicked. It's convienent to have a scapegoat, and this fella is playing it for what it's worth. Women are no looser today, than in yesteryear, they are just a little more up-front about it. I prefer that, to be honest, and anyone who's been to college in the last thirty years knows, that gals today is actually a little more prudish than say, the previous three decades. AIDS has put a pall on things, folks seem a bit more aware of things. In the Eighties, you could do lines of gals breasts just walking in a room. The Seventies had their fun, the Sixties opened up a lot of kids to the whole Romper Room aspect of sex, and prudes have never forgiven the makers of those little pills for the license for women to engage in exactly the same behavior as men. What kills me is as he is trying to get gals to close their legs, he assumes that women are loose because they want what guys want. Sexual license is about power, and he wants women to harness their power, bottle it up, and not use it. Ladies, unleash the power. Use it for all it's worth. Be safe, have fun, and never apologize for desire. Harness it for good, not evil. Better yet, don't equate sexuality with good or evil, it's sex kids. It's fun, it's silly, you make goofy faces, and it feels good. You can also make babies and get some really crappy diseases, but you goes on the ride, you takes yer chances. That's not good, or evil, that's life. This fella has the chance to comment because he's not engaged in life, he is an observer, and a detached one at that, with an agenda of his own, and cannot be considered, even for a moment, as anything more than a college guy, at a great school, looking for a way to get some desperate attention. Sex is the best way to get attention, either if you're for or against it, and either way, you'll get attention. Obviously, by the number of hits on this thread. If there are any Cornell Farkers out there, leave this priss alone, he'll burn out on his own, get a job with the priss of his choice, her father will turn him into a bitter and hollow man by thirty-five, and we can all get a laugh at him when science determines that sex is not only good for you, it actually opens up a sub-etheric portal to heaven, and that orgasams are actually God's Bliss touching us--or whatever religous hooplah will be popular by then. Leave this bugger alone, cause attacking him will only give him the ammunition he needs to lay a southern senator's daughter...

I vote you the winner of this thread. I didn't really read all of it. I can't even read a T.V Guide, but man, I bet there was alot of really good points you made. I saw the word orgasm and God. So maybe I'll print it out and read it this weekend.
No offense, but wow that was long.

Why should men continue to be gentlemen when women will not be ladies

A true gentleman does not predicate his behavior on whether the women around him are ladies. He is a gentleman on his own, not because of female peer pressure.

You obviously have never been in love.

You've obviously never had sex, if you really believe the crap you just wrote.

For many people, sex IS good only if they are in love. That's cool. What's uncool is thinking "Since I need love to enjoy sex, people who don't need love to enjoy sex are vile pree-verted hobags."

I can't believe some of you guys are still trotting out the old argument that "giving it away" cheapens sex. That assumes sex has a price...like, oh, a wedding ring and a house and a meal ticket hubby. Talk about cheapening love!

2002-03-21 03:01:47 AM
Bah and balderdash says I. Why is sex such a big deal with some people? It's fun. It can be more than fun, it can be a deeply loving and caring act as part of a much larger relationship, or it can just be a casual fun thing. Seems to me that this guy would rather sex only be a serious loving commitment, and not something that can be done for fun, or in a friendly way. I don't understand the idea of wanting someone to be a virgin at all. They're still the same person with or without the hymen, right? I find it amusing that he talks about 'friends with benefits' as a new phenomenon and acts as if it may very well be the downfall of society. One wonders if he's heard about the group marriages down California way. Several men, several women all living in relative happiness. Guarantees the kids'll have enough money to go to college I 'spose.

2002-03-21 05:38:43 AM
This is not restricted to college.

2002-03-21 05:44:29 AM
I don't think it was ever said that sex wasnt enjoyable unless you are in love. Sex is always enjoyable (for the most part). The point you were mocking him for was hs idea that sex was BETTER when you are in love. You seem to think love or emotions don't have any signifigant impact on the sexual experience. Like I said, you obviously have never been in love.

It's cool that you enjoy sex (which means you have pleasure centers in your brain and a normal set of nerve endings in your genitalia HURRAY FOR YOU). What's uncool is thinking "People who think sex is better when you are in love and who disagree with me, Mythago, obviously have never had sex."

Giving away sex easily does cheapen it -- both for men and women. It's simple supply and demand -- value is determined both by utility and scarcity.

You can test this out this weekend. Go sex as many people (or the same person as many times) as you can for one month straight. Record the extent to which you wholly enjoyed each sexual experience and record them on an excel spread sheet. Use an arbitrary scale 1-100, 1 being the lowest enjoyment and 100 being the highest. It's important that you add additional sex with a regular frequency. Your graph might curve up a little at the start, and then will curve gradually downward. Diminishing marginal returns. It's a very human trait. So yes increasing the supply does actually cheapen it biochemically.

I just thought that I should comment on this topic, too.

There.

Women are just over emotional, pissy, cock hungry sluts in general. They don't have to be in college.

The guy who wrote the article is clearly a repressed homosexual. This is what happens when your religeon keeps you down. ;)

I'm guessing "all the women are whores" because this guy isn't getting any lovin'.

She wants it; they all want it!

Sure, for commodities. Do you think of sex as a commodity? Or did you actually do the graph thing yourself?

What's uncool is thinking "People who think sex is better when you are in love and who disagree with me, Mythago, obviously have never had sex."

Man, you need a clue infusion. Let's try it SAT fashion (you've taken the SAT already, right?):

disagree with Popus:"You must never have been in love" = disagree with mythago:"You must never have had sex"

IOW, I'm *still* just mocking you. See, I'm a happily married woman, and I have had enough casual sex to make a comparison. Which is to say, I know better than to generalize from my perceptions of sex to everyone else's. I submit you'll get laid more if you figure that part out.

I realise you've probably moved on but,......

For some people who haven't become too terribly bitter and cynical with long-term relationships, there just happens to be a much more rewarding experience to be pursued than blowing your damn load.

I won't argue the virtues of a comitted relationship. Being in one is great for the simple fact that chasing tail is a pain in the ass when you have to do it night in and night out just to get your rocks off. My point is that nothing in a comitted relationship compares to the mind blowing rush of knocking the bottom out of it before you even know her name.

I stated my opinion

Opinions are like ass holes; you give yours to everyone.

I implied and specifically STATED that I like CLEAN GIRLS.
If liking clean girls makes you feel beneath me, that is obviously a personal problem on your end.

Buddy, we all like em clean, nobody in there right mind would fark a dirty hole (Ron Jeremy excluded). The problem is after you fark them, they're just as dirty as they were before you farked them. My solution is a bottle cleaner and a jug of Palmolive prior to insertion of the cock

They're very different things. The rush of a new fark is something you don't get in a relationship--but with a new fark you don't have experience, time, patience and caring that adds a different dimension to sex. It's a trade-off.

But the people who have to justify sex by saying "She might be a good candidate for marriage" first don't want to admit that.

Yeah, I took the SAT's 5 years ago. Why is it relevant? Do you want to compare scores or something? Or do you just want to make it a personal attack by implying I'm some know-nothing teenager who you are older than and thus ever more sage?

Uhm, no, diminishing marginal returns have NOTHING to do with commodities. (Although if you want to discuss commodity pricing feel free to email me) It has to do with how people deal with anything they value, anything that provides utility. You could apply it to love. If you were serially falling deeply in love with people in a series of 3 year relationships it would be the same thing. Each additional session of falling in love would provide less utility past a certain point.

You made the effort to belittle a kid on the point that sex was better if you loved someone. You claimed he obvoiusly had never had sex or that if he had, then certainly he had not had a lot of partners. Unless you are solely mocking him, then you are seriously clueless.

I have had both the Love and the Sex, and I don't know what "enough casual sex" would be but I'm sure I meet it. The Love > The Sex

Yes there are tradeoffs, but it's really not even close.

I'd be comfortable with saying that people who disagree with the statement that
"Sex is better when you are in love with the person"
obviously have never been in love (or are incapable of love?).

Popus, you rock, my man.

Why is it relevant?

To see whether you understand analogies or not.

people who disagree with the statement that
"Sex is better when you are in love with the person"
obviously have never been in love

Why do you believe this to be true? (Since, in fact, it isn't true.) Is it really so hard to wrap your head around the fact that anyone who has had both loving sex and hot monkey sex might STILL disagree with you, or is that just too scary?

In the real world, there will be people who have similar experiences to yours, yet draw different conclusions. You should get used to this concept early.

Man, this guy's got some balls to say that stuff at a place like Cornell. I just can't believe it.

It seems that Cornell is definitely "cooler" than one might think in so far as there are lots of whores there.
