No Fat Chicks For Cheerleading. Hasn't this like always has been the long unwriten rule for cheerleading?.. Why must colorado feel now they have to "plainly" spell it out. And what cheerleading squad would ever feel complelted to have a "fat" chick in ther squad. Wow.
2002-03-19 09:25:22 PM
HA!!!!.....lawsuit comin up
2002-03-19 09:26:56 PM

a wise man once said (actually a drunk friend) fat chicks are like scooters, ther're fun till you friends see you riding one
2002-03-19 09:27:04 PM
I'm a student at CU...everyone knows you can't have a cheerleader that weighs 200 pounds being thrown up into the air. It's just plain dangerous. So why did the media choose this school when every other school has an unwritten weight limit? All ours is is a suggested weight of around 120. And look at wrestling, they have limits there too. Fark the press on a slow news day.
2002-03-19 09:27:46 PM
Good maybe they will get a real life
2002-03-19 09:28:20 PM
They may be subjected to weigh ins? WTF? They are'nt boxers.
2002-03-19 09:28:42 PM
Yep. Weight descrimination. Could probably also say that overweight girls are 'disabled' and being discriminated against.
2002-03-19 09:29:09 PM
i have a cousin that would be realy mad about this
2002-03-19 09:30:39 PM
I think the whole idea of cheerleading as some sort of carrot on a string to place before fat chicks. It's a lead weight on social buoyancy. Truthfully though, I don't want to see a fat cheerleader. We had one in my school last year. She just didn't get the hint. She looked like a beast in the outfit. On the other hand, I don't wanna see ANY cheerleaders. I consider them all to be sluts, airheads, or social climbers, and they constantly prove me right in any case. Besides, I can't stand peppy people, fake or otherwise. Maybe we should just ban cheerleading?
2002-03-19 09:31:54 PM
"Someone's going to have to work at not getting an eating disorder. This is dangerous."

Like its not dangerous for the guys who have to pick them up?

You obviously didn't go to my high school. Every one of them was fugly. The dance team however... Yum.
2002-03-19 09:33:23 PM
Well of course you're gonna discriminate against fat people when it comes to cheerleading!

Cheerleading: an activity, in which you throw people high in the air and try to catch them, along with many other acrobatic moves.

The bigger you are, the more of a hazard you are!

And come on people, you can't be a fat ugly person in a "sport" where your real purpose is to have boys look at you. It just farking makes sense.

130 pounds was manageable before anyways, its just where I live in Canada, we have no weight restrictions, and our cheerleaders are fat, ugly, and out of shape.

I'll go find the webpage for my old high school hang on...

here, just copy and paste cause I don't know HTML.

well it's not as bad as it was before, but that's not saying much.

There, flame me all you want, I don't check out the forums much so I won't be here to read it. This is just one of the many things that pisses me off about Canada.

2002-03-19 09:33:48 PM
I think people should just visit rotten_com and they could get half these stories two / three days before
2002-03-19 09:33:50 PM
"It looks to me like it's discriminatory," said Melissa Hart, a CU law professor specializing in bias cases. "It's setting standards for women, but not for men."

Well duh. You're not throwing the men around in the air now, are you? Moron.
2002-03-19 09:34:15 PM
Hopefully they can keep those really dark blacks off the squads too... they dont demonstrate the 'flexability' the lighter skinned ones do.
2002-03-19 09:34:24 PM
"This happens everywhere," said a veteran CU cheerleader, who insisted on anonymity for fear of reprisals. "With this new weight limit, girls are already talking about going on unhealthy diets."

I should say so!!!!

"The 15 women on last season's competitive squad each weighed between 98 and 135 pounds and stood between 5 feet and 5 feet, 7 inches tall, according to the coach."

If you are 98 pounds and stand between 5'5 and 5'7, you are way under weight...think runway model waif and give her some pom-poms.

The next thing you will be hearing is lawsuits because girls of average weight can't tryout.

ugh.. i though my schools teams was bad
2002-03-19 09:36:03 PM
Besides, if you're under 5'7", and most of the girls are under 5' in my college squad, it's not going to be too hard to get under 130, unless you were a tremendous fat-ass in the first place.
2002-03-19 09:37:14 PM
Gecko666: Maybe your friend is the same as mine. He also told me to fvck fat chicks because they are appreciative.

I told my dad that, and he said that he always heard that you should fvck old women: they don't tell, they don't swell, and they're grateful as hell.
2002-03-19 09:37:37 PM
What is this, obesity appreciation day on Fark?

And since when have you ever seen a fat cheerleader. 120, 130, what's the difference. Shouldn't the real determining factor be ability of both the male and female cheerleaders? If you can't catch a 130 pound chick without breaking your arm, then you shouldn't be cheerleading.
2002-03-19 09:38:16 PM
JOHNDX: Once again, Brother, you deliver the Hilarious.
2002-03-19 09:39:44 PM
Really... check out my link above.

cheerleading should be like modeling... If you "ahem" are not at least "O.K" looking (or have huge braces that come out of your mouth) you arent allowed in.

The people who are kicked out could cheerlead the chess club or something? Maybe.
2002-03-19 09:40:05 PM
i saw this porn once and all these cheerleaders went in this locker room with the football team. It was way cool.
2002-03-19 09:40:19 PM
But fat-bottomed girls make the rockin world go 'round.
2002-03-19 09:44:32 PM
I'll take those 130 pound girls off their hands. If there are some girls on the baton squad, they can join in too.
2002-03-19 09:45:25 PM

Like its not dangerous for the guys who have to pick them up?

Actually, Stekorps, it isn't. Not as much. Get over it.
2002-03-19 09:47:00 PM

wtf? No img? lame

Anyway, was meant to do [image from too old to be available]

2002-03-19 09:48:04 PM
CU sucks anyway.
go rams!
2002-03-19 09:53:39 PM
I'm a student at CU as well. ( Astro716 )

Actually, I'd like to apologize to Stekorps for snapping at him. I see the logic in the rule; one cannot be throwing really heavy people in the air. However, I don't like how completely unobjective it is. I can't believe they wouldn't be able to make any logical exceptions to the rule. 5-7 and 120 pounds is really thin--certainly not unhealthy, but not attainable by many.
2002-03-19 09:56:46 PM
Doctor, we need 9 eating disorders, STAT!
2002-03-19 09:56:51 PM
Gettysburg College officials should read this article.
2002-03-19 09:59:00 PM
here's a follow-up from the CU website. draw your own conclusions.
2002-03-19 09:59:27 PM
130 is fat?

Man, I am sooooo glad I quit cheerleading in 8th grade. What complete b.s.
2002-03-19 09:59:44 PM
2002-03-19 10:01:55 PM
No apology necessary Devotchka.
I wouldn't get into the habit of apologizing, though. ;O)
They can smell your fear...
2002-03-19 10:04:36 PM

All cheerleaders should look like this IMO

2002-03-19 10:06:09 PM
I agree that the girls weights pose a problem if you are doing stunts, but there should be a standard for the guys on the squad too. Some sort of minimum amount they can lift or something.
The thing is, they set a set weight, but don't take into account if these girls are fit or not. An athletic girl at 5'6" could weigh 140 lbs and still fit into a size 4. That's not fat at all.

HollywoodNorth: here ya go -
[image from too old to be available]

At my high school, the cheerleaders AND the dance squad members were hot - but the dance squad was made up of a bunch of snobs. I can't stand snobs.
2002-03-19 10:10:16 PM
I'm really not a shallow person, just had to do something to make up for the fat Chick pic :)

CandyPink: 130 is actually a lot when you're 5 feet tall.

Not that I mind chicks with a lil exra on them. I just wouldn't want to be tossing them around a lot.
2002-03-19 10:16:32 PM
GoingCoastal There hasn't been a [image from too old to be available] post all damn day! I'm having withdrawels (sp)

You haven't rented out that space yet in your profile? :)

I dated a cheerleader in High School. She was 4'5 90 lbs. I like spinners :)
2002-03-19 10:16:34 PM
