On Tuesday, Wholey gave the lobster to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, which will send him to an aquarium at a Ripley's Believe It or Not museum.

I've heard big lobsters like that aren't good eating anyway.

"A handful of people who wandered by the tank Tuesday were impressed. One woman quietly said, "Wow," while a man said, "He's serious."

Wow that's good journalism

How strange the lobster made it to a fish market in Pittsburgh before anybody noticed. PITTSBURGH!?!?

Same with large catfish. Because they're bottom feeders, there's a higher amount of scheiss in their flesh.

Pinchy???

Based on how long it typically takes a lobster to reach eating size about five to seven years to grow to a pound some estimate Bubba is 100 years old.

Did a ten year old write this article?

2005-03-01 07:59:24 PM
if it is over 100 years old, it is older then more than 2 states.

2005-03-01 07:59:31 PM
2 states?

If he's 100 years old, my count is 5 states.

go figure.

Same goes for great big anything. In some cases they just sweat too much to get a good grip.

I read an entire book on lobsters and don't remember nothing. Well, except for that they really have some nasty maiting rituals.

Just ask Alton: There isn't a sacrifice in quality, but you should probably cut the bug up into smaller, like-size pieces....

mjcarr01:So which is it, 22 or 23 pounds?

It depends on whether he is wearing pants or not.

So why don't they give an estimate on how much the TAIL weighs. I farking hate journalism that compares two COMPLETELY different numbers. For instance:

Article says average lobster tail (for eating) is 1 lb. Doesn't tell you how much that lobster weighs.

Article says Bubba weighs 23 lbs, but doesn't tell you how much the tail weighs.

2005-03-02 04:33:59 AM
Speaking of 100 years ago, back then lobsters this size and bigger were very common. We've just hunted them out so that all we have left are the tiny things we're paying $20 lb. for. Man sure does play nice with his planet.

/Horribly, terribly, awfully bad writing in that article.

2005-03-02 04:34:00 AM
Bubba the 22 pound lobster is actually 23 pounds according to this

/does not pop
//sucks at html

Weight depends on if Kerry or Bush is at scale.
I have at least 1lb of lobster a week since I moved back to Boston. In Vegas ate a lot of crab legs, can be a lot saltier than lobster. Lobster pie rules.
Any Boston Farkers have cheap eats recomendations?
No Moms please.

breatheeasy: I've seen bigger.

What the hell is a cooked lobster doing fighting Godzilla (if it is Godzilla). Lobsters only turn orange after they're boiled. Otherwise theyre the same colour as the one in caryw's photo above.

They used to have the biggest lobster in the world in Boston Aquarium. I saw him years ago, hes obviously passed on.
