the dummer story was posted 2 days ago, and the flaming pile of shiat was posted yesterday. what gives? fark running out of stories.

also, leave it to faux news to be lagging behind. i was surprised though. i didn't notice any spin on any of the stories to show how the economy or the iraqi war were helped by these "current" events. they didn't even try to hide the fact that the environment may be harmed by tons of burning shiat.

I went to a "Battle of the Bands" at Dummer Academy 15 years ago. The best one was this band that did an incredible, by-the-numbers cover of "Brown Eyed Girl". Lot of good punk rock power trios, too.

That place really is in the middle of nowhere, too.

I knew two Dummer families. Telemarketers would have trouble with the name because they wouldn't believe it.

/only cursed with an incredibly long last name.

Went through the same thing a couple of years ago with my old boarding school: The Mervyn Lipshiatz School for the Mildly Retarded.
Now it's the "Sunshine Academy for Special Children".
They even changed our mascot.
But I will always be a Fighting Three-toed Ringtailed Reticulated Sloth. Go Sloths!!!

kahwen lagniappe: I hadn't seen the Dummer story before when I submitted the link, but maybe I just missed it. I did notice that another story below it was already posted, but I think from a different source.

This is down the street from my house...nobody around here really cares, but then again, I go to the public high school 30 feet away instead of GDA. It kind of sucks every morning driving to school in your Geo Metro as a 60 foot superstretch Escalade threatens to run you over on it's way to GDA...
And no I am not making that up, a 60 foot Escalade really does do that every day. Frikkin yuppies.

Those who cannot differentiate between Dummer and dumber do not fit the enrollment standards of this academy.

My friends and I stole the clapper from the old school bell at GDA the night before graduation, back in '86. Good times, good times.

I think they should keep the name. How many schools in this country are over 200 years old? Sadly, most people don't care about things like tradition and history anymore, just social pressure.

The name is probably the only thing that keeps out the riff-raff.
