Farker Lewis Can't Lose:
Good luck getting Plaxico. The Steelers will never willingly trade him to an in-division team. Not a player of Plaxicos ability.
Steelers will NEVER let that happen willingly

Well the steelers wont have a choice if they dont resign plaxico, since he is a UFA now...

is that anything like being a UFIA?

Moss = Oaktown bound
Laverneous Coles = Minnesota bound

It's all good.

Farker Lewis Can't Lose

The Steelers passed on the chance to tag Plaxico, so he is free to sign anywhere he wants.

I say the Vikes got the short end of the stick on this one, this is one of the weakest drafts in recent memory, so the seventh pick isn't as valuable as it usually is. IMO the only "can't miss" guy in the bunch is Derrick Johnson from Texas. He could wind up falling that far, but I doubt it.

Napoleon Harris is not that good. He's super fast, but dumber than a bag of hammers. He overpursues plays and gets eaten up in traffic. If the Vikes actually play him outside and teach him how to quit being such a dumbass, he could turn out to be a good player, top half of all linebackers. Good luck Minny.

This could wind up being almost as stupid as the Herschel Walker trade...another one the Vikings got raped in.

2005-02-23 10:55:06 PM
Vikes got JOBBED.

I wanted to see him go to Baltimore too. Get Randy the ring he deserves for the leper treatment the guy gets. He's an American hero. He doesn't give a fark what you think about him, which is why he says what he says, does what he does, and doesn't announce to the world the ungodly amount of time and money he devotes to helping charities all over the twin cities and across the nation.

a #7 overall pick in a real thin draft, and a regressing above-average linebacker?

psshhttt.. I'd rather have Adalius Thomas, the Ravens first this year, and their 32nd pick overall next year.

2005-02-23 10:56:10 PM
Meanwhile, in Indianapolis, Peyton Manning will still be talked about as if he were the second coming and he will still cough up a playoff loss when it counts.

2005-02-23 10:56:17 PM
Good i cant stand the guy anyways what has he done for the vikings anyways, also what have the vikings done for minnesota besides make us all look like dumba$$e$ for keeping him.

Randy is great and can be the one to take the Raiders back to the top ... very good move Al

Fark the boring Patriots!

HAH. HAH. HAH. What a joke. The raiders need a LOT more than just a farkin wide receiver to fix all the problems on that team. Even if they are rebuilding, it is still YEARS off. I agree with the patriots comment though.

farker lewis can't lose
Minnesota deserves the Dumbass tag if anyone deserves it.

Moss was their team. Not that they were breaking down the walls to the Super bowl or anything, but give them 2 years to bolster their defense, they might have had a "shot".

What do they get in exchange. A #7 pick in the draft (who has a 50/50 chance to be a total crap player), and a run of the mill linebacker. Oh, and some scrub late round pick.

/Detroit Lions fan
//actually happy that Minnesota are such farking morans

Do you know anything about football? Moss wasn't the team, Daunte is. Moss missed like 10 games this season and Daunte was still a great quarterback. Not to mention he's a MUCH better leader than Randy Moss. Besides, you forgot to mention all the CAP SPACE they get now in addition to the linebacker and the draft pick. Besides, if they weren't good enough to make the Super Bowl this year, why on earth wouldn't they want to shake things up a bit? Not that it matters, your entire division is a joke. Although I do like this Lions team, they show promise if Harrington can actually get his stuff together and their farkin wide receivers all stay healthy...

/toughest division in football? AFC West by FAR.

jbc: and LA can go steal some team with a decrepit stadium, like the Chargers or Raiders.

Why couldn't they take the Cardinals?

Uhh, because the Cardinals are building a new stadium? In Arizona?

2005-02-23 11:07:21 PM
how have all the dumbfark packer fans here ignored the fact that randy moss was merely serviceable this year, and daunte culpepper still had the 2nd best #'s in the league?

first Bill Callahan quits and goes to Nebraska football program. Now, Randy Moss gets to play for Raiders.

/Raiders can't get any luck

/GBP RULES!

2005-02-23 11:09:01 PM
Say what you want about the guy, but he is arguably the best receiver in football. I hate to see him go, and would rather have had Bennett traded. Hopefully, the Vikes will use this draft to build a decent defense, as I feel that's what has been holding us back. We still have good WRs, and an all-around good offense, Moss just made it great. Just my opinion.

/What's the difference between Lambeau Field and a cactus??

Cactus is full of pricks on the outside..

2005-02-23 11:11:42 PM
Sweet. Has there been a player in the NFL in the last fifteen years who was more born to be a Raider?

Raiders got great value in the trade, Randy will have a huge year next year, and the Raiders can stop drafting low-round WR and work on the D.

/Raider Nation proud

2005-02-23 11:13:04 PM
Now that they are both on the west coast, Randy Moss and Barry Bonds should go bowling together, get then some beers and let the explitives fly!

2005-02-23 11:15:44 PM
oh boy. the NFL will be rich next year.
Moss w/ the Raiders means fines from him acting like a Raider.
should be fun to watch.

2005-02-23 11:16:52 PM
Way to go, Vikes. Dismantle the one part of the team that actually wins you games. Now that's some good team building.

To be fair, they did make an addition to their weakest position, but Harris is no Ray Lewis, and Randy Moss will always be Randy Moss.

If anyone should have been traded, it should have been that moran Tice.

2005-02-23 11:25:45 PM
Not True JPNL

Vikes won last year's season opener

2005-02-23 11:28:11 PM
The Vikings have a ton of cap space ($30 mil +) now, 2 solid first round draft picks, and a talented linebacker. They should be able to turn the cap space into another WR (Coles or Burress?), at which point they still have a damn fine WR core (Burleson caught 1000+ yards, Marcus Robinson is ok if healthy) and might have an above average defense.

2005-02-23 11:35:17 PM
Randy Moss,.....yeah, he can catch the farkin ball...so what??

he can jump high in the air,... so what?

he can run really fast.....SO FARKIN WHAT?????

He can also kiss the Packers BIG GREEN & GOLD ASS, cause you've seen it enough in the past.

***Heckle you at Arrowhead this next season MOSS!!!

"...and LA can go steal some team with a decrepit stadium, like the Chargers or Raiders."

Or how bout dem' Saints, er-- I mean Ain'ts. Team owner Tom Benson wants a new stadium and a new deal. Broke-ass, third-world state in serious danger of losing the most losing losers who have ever lost. Believe me, even if you badly want an NFL franchise for your town. This is not the team you want. Never a good idea to have an car salesman for an owner, EVER!!!

New Orleans-great place for Mardi Gras,Jazz Fest, and Bourbon Street. oh yeah, also for crack and getting shot.

2005-02-23 11:54:08 PM
I mean, you get kinda used to being disappointed, and justifying your fanhood for a team like Minnesota. I guess I can deal with teams outperforming us. But when you knowlingly and willingly get rid of the best thing that's ever happened to your club, I don't know how much more I can justify. He's not even an A$$ compared to most star players in other leagues! OMG he fake mooned the Packers after sticking it too them and having to take all the fans mooning him for real on the way out of Lambeau for 7 years. How horrible of a person would it take to make a little payback gesture that only the people that ridicule him would understand? Sounds fair to me! And besides, he fake mooned people. Whoopty-doo, he still coulda won a superbowl for us in better health and given better support. Packers fans are sooooo blind that they have to whine and cry like little girls about being fake mooned by a guy that just OWNED them instead of facing the fact that they got OWNED by the Vikings in an off year. He is easily the best player minnesota has ever seen, and one of the best in NFL history. Not only did he get us somewhere (only to be held back by crappy play-calls) he's not even a salary cap threat. He only makes just over 7 million a year!

It's gonna be hard to watch them next year... As a displaced Vikings fan, I find it very frustrating to watch them fail time after time on the field, only to try and outdo themselves off the field. Remember when we were laughing because we were the only team that would take a chance on a dangerous pick? I guess the Vikes felt like it was the rest of the league's turn to laugh at us.

Vikings clearly deserve the Dumbass tage for this one.

/Angry rant of a Viking's fan

There goes the Vikes.

Good for the Lie-downs tho.

Although, to counter any good that will come from Moss' absence, thye Lions' management has been talking about drafting Garcia. That oughtta ensure bottom of the NFCN.

Actually Oakland got Gannon from the Chiefs in '99...he left the Vikes in '92. Also, calling Moss the "one of the best in NFL history" is a freakin huge overstatement.

Is there any other NFL franchise with such a gigantic anti-fan base as the Raiders? I don't think so. You have to go to other sports to find comparisons.

I think the Cowboys are close. Used to call them ABC (anyone but cowboys) fans.

Besides, you forgot to mention all the CAP SPACE they get now in addition to the linebacker and the draft pick.

The Vikings already were some 20 million under cap LAST YEAR and they did NOTHING with it. According to foxsports--and I believe this is before the Moss trade was announced--they will be 31 million for 2005: (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67053).
That's pretty much tops in the league. The cost-benefit for freeing up cap room doesn't seem like a good reaosn for a trade.

So for that cap space you get an average Linebacker and the theoretically 7th best player in college, in exchange for arguably the best receiver in the NFL.

WTF sense does any of this make?

Hey, im from indy, so im a colts fan... but minnesota people who are defending randy moss.. why? this is a guy who walks off the field, before a game is over, and then the next day is on t.v., saying that he's going to do what he wants, blah blah f'n blah. No wonder people hate his guts. What about his piss-poor playoff performance? i seem to remember him dropping balls, and generally being a waste of space this year.

You're either a team off all, or of one. he's the "of one" variety, and whatever you get for him, you're going to be better of.

what a terrible trade.
i'm so disappointed.

2005-02-24 02:07:39 AM
preface: I'm a Pats fan, and not a particularly diehard one, but I watch football intently.

Which would you prefer:
1) A player who is well-behaved, team-first, always happy and always answers all the media's questions
2) A player who is almost undeniably the best in the world at a very important position, and who has shown the ability to single-handedly dominate a game at any given time

what if you could only pick one of those? To borrow a line from my favorite sports discussion site, you go ahead and enjoy losing with your 25 good citizens, and i'll go ahead and win championships with my 25 immensely talented prima-donna superstars.

I'm not condoning any team becoming the Yankees, but you don't trade one of the best players in the league for (comparative) scrubs unless he's costing you way way too much money. The Patriots' team-uber-alles approach notwithstanding, Moss's antics weren't losing anyone games. Not having Moss, however, will lose people some games. The freed cap space may even get you an L. Coles if you're fortunate, but aside from Owens or Marvin Harrison there really is no replacing Randy Moss.

/and now i'll have to hate him because he's a Raider. darn.

It would take a commie-bastard to point that out. In any case, the Green Bay win at Minnesota in 2003 made everything else blurry.

btw, are the Bills really going to start JP Lossman this year?

2005-02-24 02:52:08 AM
As I Vikings fan I'm split on this one. Such an amazing player, but...

1. His injuries may be worse than we realize. Not good for a speedy receiver.
2. His ME FIRST attitude definitely is bad for the vibe of the team.
3. If they actually get some good players with all that cap room, they could be great. Culpepper is incredible and is in his prime. Add a couple of guys on D, one good receiver (he won't be as good as Moss, but not an asshat) and they could easily win the NCF North. I bet they have a receiver in mind - probably under the table the deal is already made.

Tice, though...maybe if they had a head coach who got paid more than minimum wage they would figure out when to challenge.

jpnl, As far as I know the job in Buffalo is his to lose.

I'm waiting to see what Buffalo does with Henry. We ("They" to non sports fans) need a first round pick in a baaaaad way.
