I doubt that they're missing. They're probably under all that snow somewhere.
2005-02-21 11:31:10 AM
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh.

Oh, I been flying... mama, there ain't no denyin'
I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear

When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there

Let me take you there. Let me take you there

2005-02-21 11:45:00 AM
Olaf - I wasn't ballsy enough to make that comment. Dang funny.
2005-02-21 11:50:32 AM
I think that that is one of the funniest opening lines that I've ever read in a thread
2005-02-21 11:56:27 AM
For some reason I read that as 'Hundreds missing from Blizzard Entertainment that dropped 15...'

My first thought was. Oh, another delay in patching WoW.
2005-02-21 12:01:15 PM
Thank you all... you're too kind.

/Try the Veal. I'll be here all week.
2005-02-21 12:05:01 PM
Such a shame, I love their sweaters.
2005-02-21 12:06:06 PM
Led Zeppelin to play benefit concert.
2005-02-21 12:13:33 PM
So, did they all just stand still once it started snowing?
2005-02-21 12:13:43 PM
A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.

I always miss the chance to make the good jokes.
2005-02-21 12:15:29 PM
Don't these people have warm sweaters?

2005-02-21 12:16:18 PM
Well, I wouldn't exactly say they're *missing*, Bob
2005-02-21 12:16:33 PM
It takes multiple helicopters to drop a 440 lb load?
2005-02-21 12:17:52 PM
mmmm corpsicles!
2005-02-21 12:18:47 PM
Led Zeppelin sucks.
2005-02-21 12:19:16 PM
yeah, and that tsunami thing was pretty funny too huh?

c'mon guys, people are dead because 15 FEET of snow fell in 2 days. its sad.
2005-02-21 12:22:44 PM
I wonder if the Kashmiri grocery stores had a run on nan and ghee the night before.

/We got six inches yesterday. . .
2005-02-21 12:22:47 PM
Tombalom: yeah, and that tsunami thing was pretty funny too huh?

Well, this is a tusnami. Only, it fell from the sky rather than rushed in as a wave. Oh, and that whole frozen vs liquid form.

That much show will likely collaps roofs of structures.
2005-02-21 12:23:16 PM
It's odd isn't it. If someone makes a joke about 9/11 or another tragedy in the US, they are flamed like crazy (and rightly so), but because people died who happen to be of a different culture, and no one cares.

Ah well, imagine how you would feel if your child was missing under that snowstorm and someone made a stupid ass ignorant comment like that.

/Knows someone missing
2005-02-21 12:23:46 PM
Does anyone have any pics of this blizzard and/or the aftermath?
2005-02-21 12:23:51 PM
Ligten up dude. If you can't laugh at the pain and death of others, what can you laugh at?

I hope this doesn't delay my sweater order.
2005-02-21 12:24:50 PM
Drannon I'm pretty sure everyone was all, "think of the people, this is so sad." when the whole tsunami thing went down too...and it didn't happen in the US.
2005-02-21 12:27:01 PM
Hundreds of what? Mittens?
2005-02-21 12:27:02 PM
200 missing in India's area of region

Area of region?
2005-02-21 12:27:02 PM
as long as it doesnt ruin my cell phone, my SUV, or make little mason late to soccer practice, I just don't have time to be concerned, besides i'm late for a manicure.

/the more I think about it, the more it makes me insane.
2005-02-21 12:27:08 PM
Damn it, I'm way too late to make a Led Zep comment. I need TotalFark. (My one moment of glory: being first to make a Van Halen reference on that "Teacher sleeps with 14 year old boy" thread.)
2005-02-21 12:27:31 PM
Jebus hates brown people.
2005-02-21 12:27:36 PM
wow, I think that Mother Earth is having her time of the month around now.
2005-02-21 12:28:11 PM
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace!
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
2005-02-21 12:28:24 PM

That definately made me lol
2005-02-21 12:28:35 PM
I hope this doesn't delay my sweater order.

HAHAHA, nice one.
2005-02-21 12:29:12 PM
Look under the refrigerator. They're probably there.

NutznGum: Olaf nailed it on the Boobies.

That sounds so wrong. Yes, I know you didn't say boobies, but still, the way that actually came out was just so amusing.

Tombalom-I am going to die. It will probably be in some mundane unimpressively boring manner. That is sad, because nobody will even have a chance to make an attempt at humor about it. These people died in a way that was so impressive that a guy like me half way around the world got to hear about it. I say good for them. They got to go out in a blaze (i'm not sure about the choice of blaze here) of glory. Get off your high horse and let us appreciate them and honor their spectacular passing with rounds of cheer. We didn't wish them dead, but if you gotta go, why not go with a bang.

personally I would like to die parachuting over Wachington DC on the fourth of july and hit the top of the Washington monument at terminal velocity. Instantly being quartered like that with the benefit of a spectacular spray pattern would be memorable to witnesses.

/as god is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly
2005-02-21 12:33:28 PM
Blame it on Global Warming....

Still very sad...
2005-02-21 12:36:15 PM
I am going to die. It will probably be in some mundane unimpressively boring manner.

Not me. When I go, I'm taking each and every one of you with me... so if you could all just tell me who you are it'd make things so much easier for me.
2005-02-21 12:36:34 PM
Mr Chicken, i'm sure the people are delighted that they got to die in such an entertaining manner.
2005-02-21 12:37:18 PM
That's a lot of freaken snow. Funny, when I think of India, I don't think of it snowing, unless at very high elevations. But then we had another warm, sunny February day here in St. Louis yesterday, so everything is screwy...
2005-02-21 12:38:23 PM
With all this snow on top of it, this will make the border between India and Pakistan that much harder to find.

It's got to be under there somewhere.
2005-02-21 12:39:03 PM
Most of the passes have been closed for a coupla weeks with the whiteout conditions & temps down in the single digits. It's gonna be bad on the children, most of the huts are built to withstand heavy snow loads but their parents can't get out to get food. Alot of starving going on until the weather clears & the US can make more helo drops. Thought last year was bad but this winter is starting to look like the worst one in centuries. The kenabatic type winds are wicked. On a brighter note I hear osama has run out of MRE's, heating fuel, & anal lube. Buzzy.
2005-02-21 12:39:42 PM
God has been clicking on too many boobies links apparently.

Oh umm wait, nevermind...

Old Man Winter was arraigned on 150 counts of first degree murder today...
2005-02-21 12:41:53 PM
Let me clarify, these people died a natural cause. There isn't much you can do about that but be fatalistic. Their end was however impressive.

When the planet decides to kill people, It can be overwhelming to the point of absurdity.

People killing people on the other hand is just sad, because their reasons for doing so are almost always flawed. That is why 9/11, the holocost, khmer rouge etc. aren't funny.
