Hey Thirdrail: Hail from the other side of the country. Spark one up... Hanky

Now that the high score-holder of Asteriods is dead, I will live and die by my Ericson phone version.

Damn, my battery died.

Now they just need to add the paddle controller. I've got the ROM's on my PC, and some of those are hard without a paddle. It's damn near impossible to do well on Indy 500 with out the wheel controller.

Hey! The "reload comments after posting" didn't work! I want the old server back.
2002-03-15 11:42:23 PM
And that time it did work. Hmmm. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Blow that new "fone", why not buy a real cheap model and a Game boy advance instead? If gaming is all your after...

So: First thought in my head, in about five years' time, we're going to have walking units which will:

1. Let you call anywhere in the world, with video (question: would this only show the inside of your ear :)

2. Play the latest Playstation/Nintendo/Whatever cartridges, as well as being backwards-compatible all the way to the original 8088 extended-ascii version of Rogue

3. Keep track of your schedule, remind you when an appointment is coming up, and transmit an e-clone of you if you can't make it

4. Be about the size of a bunghole

And who will bring this to you? The Rold Gold company. Rold Gold will control the world. How you say? The US is the powerbase of the world economy. Bush is the head of the US. And at a most opportune time, Rold Gold plans to unveil their new flagship product, "President's Choice Swallow-em-whole Specials."

Caveat Emptor, Mr. Bush.

Great. One more way that other people on their cell phones can irritate the shiat out of me.

Pong is way too flashy. Too much focus on graphics. You want a real game? Play Text-Based Pong if you're a hardcore gamer.

First my Nokia comes with Memory, Logic, & Snake, then this! We have a guerilla rom folder on the server at work, plus the ones I have at home. Pretty soon, I can play roms anytime I want.

If I could see the technology of today when I was a kid addicted to Atari, I can't even express it in words.

Modern society is very clever, but not very wise.

1. Get a home phone for calls.
2. Get an answering machine for when we're not at home.
3. Get call-waiting -- TWO CALLS AT ONCE!!
4. Must get caller ID -- TOO MANY CALLS!!!!
5. Get cell phone for mobile calls.
6. Get voice mail for when were not with our cell phones.
7. Get mobile-call waiting....
8. Get mobile caller ID....
9. Get cranium phone?

And I imagine a cell-phone version of Pac-Man is even worse then the Atari 2600 and Texas Instruments Calculator versions

i hate mobile phones. why do they keep coming up with features that make me want to compromise my morals and get one?

Remember when computers were fun and didn't suck!!! I work on computers all day ( and night ) and have yet to feel the same way I did the first time I played an Atari game.
2002-03-16 07:56:18 AM
But when the new phones with Java come, won't somebody just do a java version of a Gameboy emu?
Imagine, sitting on the bus downloading GB roms... :D

#2: I know exactly what you mean. My first computers were a DEC PDP/8 with 4 k words of CORE memory and a Wang (w00t) 2200t for which a friend and I wrote a Star Trek game (hey, it had a CRT -- uppercase, no graphics, but it beat the ASR 33 teletype on the PDP/8).

Ahh, Star Trek. 7 k words of memory. Overlays on cassette. Paper tape. Getting my math/physics/chemistry/calc teacher hooked on the game, then rigging it to present him with impossible scenereos. Watching him chain-smoke as he pounded furiously on the keyboard trying to get out of those scenereos.

Now computers suck. THEY SUCK!

On the whole, I'd rather be a forest ranger, but I have to pay the bills.

You want to talk cool abuses of technology, try playing emulated arcade games on your digital camera.
