Damn, that is pretty , I just wish a three year old would of made that page instead of that two year old.

Holy jeebus. That ruled.

2002-03-14 10:52:50 PM
That's an easy move. You just yank real hard on the emergency break, hard left rudder and she "fish" tails.

This is the best Photoshop ever!!!.......oh, sorry. Didn't want Flaystus to feel too silly.

Man, talk a captain going down with his ship. Cool.

How long until somebody photoshops Tourist Guy into one of those photos?

2002-03-14 10:59:15 PM
Yowtch.

So, what happened to the coal cars?

2002-03-14 11:01:14 PM
I looked at this for about 30 seconds. It's not supposed to be real, right? I see an inconsistency. Notice the little tower thing that juts off the top of the bridge. It switches sides on the 7th picture. I would assume the photographer walked to the other side of the bridge and too the 7th picture there. That, or the boat turned 180 degrees while under the bridge. Going to take a second look. Meanwhile, someone please explain. :)

2002-03-14 11:03:25 PM
Wait a minute, I guess it wouldn't be that hard for the boat to turn 180 degrees considering the cabin decks acted like an axis for it to spin and the strong current.

Iron Felix...come on....it is you right? Oliver Stone?

We talked about this one for 60 posts on the Cellar, and someone came up with this link, which describes exactly what happened. This link will be too long for Fark though.

Wheee! Can I do it again? Huh? Can I huh? Come on!

lol @ Yugofark. My uncle makes these damn lame photoalbums with "funny" captions. He's always bringing them around and making you look at them while he stands there watching you like a dog waiting for a table scrap. Only they're not about death-defying tugboats. They're about company picnics. Or pouring a slab for the new garden shed. And you have to laugh for him. You have to.

2002-03-14 11:11:28 PM
Snopes confirms the truth of this story. I'd dig out the link but, damn, I'm lazy.

2002-03-14 11:14:11 PM
It's amusing to see this photo sequence again. I was first made aware of it five weeks ago, but it proved to be so popular that the poor guy's server got farked in no time. It sure looks to me like the photographer crossed to the other side of the bridge for the final pics.

2002-03-14 11:22:36 PM
now that's cool..pass me another cold one while i RTFM for that move again

The captain's probably thinking, "What's the big whoop? I do it this way everyday!"

2002-03-14 11:28:25 PM
it takes years of practice to master the skills of underwater tugmanship...years..

2002-03-14 11:44:26 PM
Holy Crap! This made my day and has restored my faith in the fact that Jebus watches over the incureably stupid and unfortunate. Wonderful sequence of photos!

2002-03-14 11:45:29 PM
OMG....this is hilarious. And there was just something about the matter-of-fact wording of the captions that made it particularly amusing.

2002-03-14 11:55:46 PM
This has been submitted many times before by many people.... bah

one way to advoid paying the toll...

2002-03-15 12:11:41 AM
Repeat or not, I've not seen it before. A captain of this skill and tugmanship would make a fine addition to my pirate crew. Yarrgh!

Life will always be filled with repeats and leftovers and whiners.

2002-03-15 12:15:41 AM
It needs a General Lee on the side of the boat. Unless John Hartford was the pilot.

When tugboat captains get subarine envy, next on Geraldo...

IronFelix:

Check out the tree patterns on either side of the river-- all these photos were taken from the same spot. I'd guess the relocating tower is due to the drawbridge's opening, which probably also freed the boat from under the bridge and guaranteed an impressive photo sequence.

What more proof do you need that a divine force, a saviour, a fisher of men and a lamb of God is protecting us all, who was crucified and ressurected to defeat evil? (I am, of course, refering to Horus.)

2002-03-15 01:26:30 AM
A few weeks ago, I created a Fark account with the sole intention of posting this. I submitted it, and was told the link had already been submitted. I hate the world.

Horus?

I dunno. Magnetic forces at play. Spidey senses tingling....
I bagel to differ: I'm sticking to the Philadelphia Experiment theory.

That or a hull stuffed with Styrofoam.

2002-03-15 01:37:50 AM
This actually happened!

Here's the link to the Snopes Urban Legends web site where you can find the rest of the story: "There's a tugboat a comin', the bridge is in sight"

Jre, but have you been bathed in the blood of the Bull?

Windoc Accident

cool!

2002-03-15 06:27:04 AM
Its over 23 years old!?
I've just read that the bridge is long gone, and the plucky captain(who never left the helm) is dead :-(
That makes me a saaaaaaad panda.

2002-03-15 07:40:37 AM
The pictures are real. The boat really went under.

The tower on top of the bridge appears to switch but it is just a matter of perspective. It's like if you're standing in left field, a pitcher on the mound appears in line with the 1st base line, and in right field he's on the 3rd base line.

Also, look at the shadows cast by parts on the bridge's beams. They are the same in all pics. If he switched ends of the bridge, the shadows would only be different.

Although I subbed this link over a week ago.. I remain a virgin.... mods suck.

2002-03-15 10:46:01 AM
How can so many people (including me) submit the same link days or weeks ago, but it isn't posted until now.

A pirate -- peg-leg, parrot, eyepatch, and all -- walks into a bar. He has a steering wheel protruding from his groin. Not a little steering wheel, either, but the kind you find at the helm of a ship.

"Hey," says the bartender, looking up from pouring a drink. "You got a steering wheel poking out of your groin, man."

"Aye," agrees the pirate. "It's drivin' me nuts."
