You know, I have one simple request.....and that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads. Now evidently, my cycloptic colleague informs me that that can't be done. Ah, can you please remind me what I pay you people for? Honestly, throw me a bone here...what do we have?
2002-03-14 06:02:33 PM
Blimps? No blimp boobies please!
2002-03-14 06:04:01 PM

2002-03-14 06:08:18 PM
Oh the humanity!
2002-03-14 06:11:47 PM
Great idea! Now any third world country can defeat our air force with a pea shooter.

"The Atomic Energy Commission conducted tests of
blimps in nuclear combat." that sounds like a good idea to who?

2002-03-14 06:18:04 PM
Just where you'd want to be sitting when a squadron of MiG-29's comes streaking in at Mach 2.5: in a gondola under a big fat ballon.
2002-03-14 06:18:39 PM
How long do you think these things are placed around cities and outfitted with high-res cameras?
Kiss your backyard sex goodby!
2002-03-14 06:21:12 PM
I can see my house!
2002-03-14 06:21:22 PM

[image from too old to be available]

"Zeppelin formation at five o'clock, sir! There's three of them, and they're closing in, very, very slowly!"
2002-03-14 06:32:16 PM
i think you guys missed the point....these would be against countries when we have COMPLETE air supremecy like in afghanistan....we would not use these if there was a chance of enemy jets getting them
2002-03-14 06:32:30 PM
was expecting to read about a show on comedy central.
2002-03-14 06:35:15 PM
"Hey there, blimpy boy, flying through the sky so fancy fr....BOOM!"
2002-03-14 06:36:45 PM

2002-03-14 06:40:49 PM
Is there anyone here that could get me an audience with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia?
2002-03-14 06:40:55 PM
The Command and Conquer series: Always 2 steps ahead of our own military. :-D
2002-03-14 06:41:42 PM
Finally, a way to recycle retired Macy's Day Balloons!
2002-03-14 06:44:45 PM
Don't we have enough way to kill people all ready?
2002-03-14 06:48:37 PM

Let's try that again:

"Some attribute UFO sightings to a massive military balloon that has the ability to mask itself by displaying on its undercarriage a montage of stars that duplicate those overhead"

So it would be invisible, and unable to be 'sighted' as a UFO. Though of course, how would this airship know what angle you were looking at it from so it could display the correct constellations?
2002-03-14 06:50:56 PM
Pavelow- As a Helicopter, how do you feel about Blimps moving in on your turf?
2002-03-14 06:52:26 PM
Popular Mechanics. What a joke. Does the blimp use cold fusion? This issue also includes a "special message" from Dubya. Check it out. It's scary.
2002-03-14 06:53:44 PM

First laugh of the evening. Good show, old man.
2002-03-14 07:12:58 PM
Sorry farkers. Can you please link large pics? Thanks.

Fark on!
2002-03-14 07:13:06 PM
The term sitting duck comes to mind
2002-03-14 07:21:48 PM
This thing is going to be cruising in the stratosphere. What's the operational ceiling of a Mig-29 ? Also, it's going to have radar capable of detecting land mines and live hand grenades on the ground -- is it very likely that someone will be able to sneak up on it?
2002-03-14 07:22:42 PM
Woohoo! Check out the interior. Yank the targeting equipment, put in a hot tub with a nice wide view, and you've got the coolest RV/yacht in history.
2002-03-14 07:28:45 PM
Brotherlove- The ceiling for a mig-29 is 18400 meters. Plus you have to figure that it would be stealthy and protected by other fighters or defensive weapons...
2002-03-14 07:29:17 PM
Through proper diet and exercise, you can avoid turning into a blimp.
2002-03-14 07:30:02 PM
Anyone else notice that the post numbers on the threads are not going up?
2002-03-14 07:34:47 PM
hey wazzap guys!
2002-03-14 07:39:30 PM
Fark is beginning to suck ass.
2002-03-14 07:52:09 PM
I didn't read the article but I'm guessing from the title that the military plans on training Roseanne and Rosie O' Donnell for some sort of combat missions.
2002-03-14 07:53:08 PM
Fishbowl:The post numbers have been farked for a while now. Very annoying to me.

StevieB:No kidding.
2002-03-14 07:55:29 PM
I would like one of these to fly over the next Super Bowl... well just see of those farking Patriots are able to win a game when they are being cooked by a 1.1 Gigajoule laser. *Evil Laughter*
2002-03-14 08:08:01 PM
I want one of these blimps. Soooooo bad. Now I can destroy The New York Yankees once and for all with that kickass laser!

Death to the New York Yankees!
2002-03-14 08:20:10 PM
Blimp--good for surveillance over a long term, since it doesn't burn sh*tloads of fuel just to stay aloft, unlike planes and choppers.

Use only when well guarded BY planes and choppers(read: have total air superiority), because it can't maneuver worth beans, and forget about fighting. Might make a good AWACS platform, though--more Warcraft recon blimp than RA2 Kirov.
2002-03-14 08:43:36 PM
The military will probably spend billions doint this. They should rent instead:

"Armed with laser cannons"? When did we get laser cannons?
2002-03-14 08:55:46 PM
IcePassion We have had laser cannons for over a decade. It is just recently that we have been able to make the power supplies for them mobile enough to make them parcticle in combat
2002-03-14 08:56:11 PM
the same time we got the lightsabers and the galactic death pods.
yeah, i know im a dumbass.
2002-03-14 08:58:09 PM
