Does anyone else feel so incredibly high?

Holy shiat, 9lbs worth $408,000?

I went to school at U of O in Eugene OR. There were several busts of this kind in the late 90's. I had hippy friends who had sampled the goods. They seem to sprout up here and there like mushrooms every once in a decade.

2005-02-09 11:38:31 PM
Shrooms are $10-$15 a gram where I come from (when you can get them). According to these guys they're worth about $100/gram. Was this shiat concentrated or something?

Today has been a verrrrrrrrry sloooooooooow news day on Fark if you ask me.

That's the cue for some idiot to say "It's not news, it's..." like he's the first one ever to say that.

Alex Chilton

And thats 10 15 clams for a gram of boomer, not candy with psilocybin extract. If by concentrated you mean diluted with the worst tasting candy possible, yes.

For the frugal Valentine's Day shopper, I recommend something simpler, like hash brownies.

/I think it's spelled "kaleidoscope"

I hate this farking holiday. That is all I am going to say

Yeah, it's about 10 dollars a gram here, although they might be considering the weight based on actual Psylocibin, claiming the candies to be "pure", which is well, HIGHLY unlikely.

That'd be kind of like saying all alcohol was 200 proof, by the way.

2005-02-09 11:46:51 PM
Err, rather, that all alcoholic beverages were 200 proof.

2005-02-09 11:51:17 PM
The actual value of 9 'dried' pounds is more like 29,000 USD, by the way. And that's at street level prices, not bulk.

The chocolate is probably worth about 2.99 a pound in the bulk section, on the other hand.

Estimated value of 8 lbs of mushroom chocolates: $408,000
Wow... so if there were 40 chocolates per pound (that's a stretch) that would be a price of $1275 for one chocolate.

That's Expensive

2005-02-09 11:57:10 PM
I've had both white chocolate and dark chocolate shrooms within the last year and a half in Boston.

2005-02-09 11:58:29 PM
Sorry $1133 per chocolate... still a bit pricey

2005-02-10 12:00:04 AM
You can eat them whilst sitting on a cornflake.

$5/gram here in vancouver.

that's basically the most you'll ever pay here, unless you're like 16

Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And shes gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And youre gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle,
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes.

And John denies the song is about LSD. I love it.

Hey, let's run around and talk about everything like we're really insightful for 4 hours.

www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_basics.shtml says 100-250 and ounce. That'd be 36k upper. Plus, chocolate would be a lot heavier than the shrooms.

Isn't the weight of the container automatically added to the weight of the drug in US busts?

expensive boomers. a bit too much...

2005-02-10 12:53:33 AM
shrooms is a cleaner high than acid, alot less "hangover" than paper, too. if you're going to trip, better to stick with that than messing with acid - believe that.

When selecting mushrooms for candy, always try to procure ones that are firm and fresh with bright white teeth and the ability heartily defend themselves.

random thoughts...
1. I had some Amsterdam shrooms recently, called "philosophers stone." 20 grams for 20 bucks. I ate half of them, and the other half a week later. The first time I got up to get a drink of water I was walking through my house and everything looked like it was in a comic book. The second trip was more intense. I had one of those moments when I was one with the planet - I could feel the energy emanating from the earth, and I could see it even with my eyes closed.
I like psychedelics, and unlike acid which keeps you charging full speed ahead for 8-12 hours, mushrooms have the common decency to leave you alone after a while and let you sleep.
2. John liked acid also and did not hide it. He said the song was about Julian's painting. I have no reason to doubt him.
LSD and his marvelously surreal poetry do have a lot in common though.

Methinks they added the weight of the Corolla to the bust.

2005-02-10 01:52:31 AM
So by DEA rules they add the weight of the carrier along with the drug.

So let's use their rules and compute this. In my lifetime I have never seen lab grown mushrooms go for more than $100 an ounce. 16 oz. to a pound, that makes $1600 a pound. Times 9 lbs. equals $14400. Using those rules that means the stupid troopers are off by $393600!!!!

Now if you are to be fair and removed the weight of the chocolate, probably two thirds of the weight, they probably only had bout $4800 worth of shrooms. What a bunch of pricks. I mean sure, go ahead and bust if you have to but be reasonable.

Just dropping in...

No major Beatles fibbing here, but we at the TBP noticed, once again, snickering questions being raised about "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" being a drug song, even though John denied it over and over again, the insinuation being that John was lying about it...

Here's the deal. John was known for being honest, to a fault. He and the other Beatles used drugs. He and the other Beatles admitted this. John wrote songs about sex, and about using drugs -- and John admitted this, even when the songs themselves were coy. "Norwegian Wood" was about an affair he had. He admitted that. "Cold Turkey" was about trying to get over the use of hard drugs that he admitted being hooked on.

John claimed over and over that the song was inspired by a painting his son created, inspired by a school mate ... named Lucy. The painting exists, and can be googled -- and, if this is indeed the painting, one can certainly see things that would inspire lyrics about diamonds in the sky, etc.

John was very much influenced by "Alice in Wonderland" and the works of Lewis Carroll, most obviously in "I am The Walrus." "Lucy" is filled with the same kind of imagery.

This is not to deny people under the influence of drugs probably enjoyed listening to this song while high, in the same way they went to see "2001" or Disney's "Fantasia" while high. Or spend the evening staring at a lava lamp. Anything surreal or different probably would get thier addled attention.

John said he didn't notice that "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" spelled at LSD -- (Or, actually, LITSWD) -- until it was pointed out to him, where upon he and the other Beatles went down through all their songs, looking to see if they spelled something.

So why would he lie about this one song -- all through the rest of his days? Why this song, over all the other songs with questionable drug or sexual or political content? Any other time, they admitted it, and no big deal. So why this one, and this alone?

A better question might be why are some people so obsessed with making a wink-wink drug connection when it doesn't exist?

Anyway, mates... have fun, but keep it factual.

2005-02-10 02:02:15 AM
A better question is why are you obsessed so much with keeping the Beatles facts straight? I mean does it really matter if a stupid Farker wants to believe there's a connection? Aren't there plenty of books that record all this for history? Could it be possible that that song would not exist if he never imbibed? You state that drugs were important to the Beatles, so why is it so ludicrous that there's speculation? Are you a Beatle? Or Does any of this really matter? This is a joke web site, I think.

/don't really want any answers

We at the grand old TBP are dedicated to fighting the tide of ill-based rumours, negative gossip and plain out-and-out misinformation that is rife on the Internet. It so happens our area of interest and expertise revolves around the Beatles, as, opposed, to the difference between red staters and blue staters, NSFW/SFW boobies, or MAC vs PC.

We believe words mean things, integrity means things, and that it is wrong to spread false stories about other people, particularly those who aren't here to defend themselves. Especially people who accomplished things that we feel should be applauded, not lied about, or unwarranted negative aspersions cast upon.

That being said, we also believe everyone has the right to say what they want, even if it is misinformation, even if it is negative, and, yes, even if it is hateful. But forgive us if we here use that same right to put the correct information out there for people who care. And there are some that do. (Just as there are some who criticise folks for trying to be truthful, and ignore those who casually toss out something that just adds to the piles of intellectual junk that seems to reign supreme on the world wide web, and sometimes here on FARK).

We also acknowledge nichOlai's admission that he didn't really want any answers, so this is for those out fabulous Farkin' TBP-supporters who do. And we thank you...

Aye, mates, and as always... keep it fun, and factual!
