Attention Calgary Farkers
Come down to Ducky's Pub on Friday, Feb 11th, from 9:00pm to 3:00 am.

No cover, Cheap jugs of beer, and shooter deals all night!

Feeling geeky? Grab the mic and do some Karaoke! (Serously, though, it's more like a nightclub).

Tell the doorman (me, by the way) that Duke Sucks and bypass the lineup (we do occasionally have them).

(Farkers from Edmonton welcome, but may be required to sit in the corner with dunce hat on.)

Figures my first green-light would be about booze.

Damn I miss Ducky's... but I don't miss the weather anymore

Ducky's on a Friday night?

Won't that be exceptionally busy / crowded / loud?

Not Necessarily. We are usually pretty busy, but it's not a huge venue such as Cowboys' or something.

Even when we're at our limit there's still lots of space, and we're probably quieter than most dance clubs.

My only advice is get there early to get a good table.

Are you planning on having a "Fark Section"?

Good Luck with it, BTW.

Figures you'd pick the one weekend I'm out of town. I'd be all over it otherwise.

2005-02-04 07:36:25 PM
Hell, I even have a picture of me singing at Ducky's in my profile.

Seriously, let's have a FARK party in Amsterdam this May. Please! I'll be in the general area and would be willing to make the journey to see other farkers in Amsterdam.

2005-02-05 06:14:14 AM
Dammit, would love to go, but I'm working. I'm 0 for 3 on Calgary Fark parties.

Ducky's? Seriously? That place is a dump. There are about 15 pubs in that area that are better.

2005-02-05 12:40:28 PM
whee! i'm so totally there. my ex will have just flown in from toronto to visit. this will be great punishment..

err...

2005-02-05 01:22:55 PM
a lineup at Ducky's? Nightclub? bwahhahahaa.. anyone like to gamble? i give anyone 10:1 odds there won't be a lineup.

Highroller it is more cafeteria than nightlub. "Karaoke/Sports Bar" sounds like a more honest description to me.

I have to agree with dorkasaurus, there are better places to go in the area, but they don't have karaoke. I love karaoke but can only take so much of it (especially when they suck).

/will probably be stumbling by 9...

2005-02-05 02:23:13 PM
Ducky's is sports bar/cafeteria with nightclub prices. If they made the prices reflect the dive atmosphere I would be there every farking night... but dont get me wrong, karaoke is a real good time at Ducky's. i will be the inconspicuous guy with the 40oz in the bathroom.

2005-02-05 03:17:10 PM
Looks like I picked the wrong weekend to be out of town.

2005-02-05 03:39:51 PM
My mom says we can have the party at her house!!!

"Remembers the last calgary fark party at brewsters where I tried to invite the bar over...

2005-02-05 05:02:14 PM
I remember that party at Brewsters, good times.

Don't know if I'll be able to make it to this one or not, have a club crawl on the 12th... Bah, two days of heading out never hurt anyone, did it? I know my wife will want to show up for the karaeoke though.

2005-02-05 05:12:11 PM
9pm?? Cripes - that's late for us old farkers. I'll see if my wife will let me out that night. Have to be good next week. Hope to see you there. Liked the last one - learned the phrase "Let me check my give-a-shiat-o-meter on that"...Hilarity ensuing ever since. Cheers.

Well, we open at noon...so you're welcome to come early, but the entertainment doesn't start till after 9. We'll have any good games up on the Big screen before then, though.

dorkasaurus
Well, it ain't for everyone, I guess, fair enough. It IS a pub, but it ofetn feels more like a club. I always manage to have a good time, even though I can't really drink, being Staff and all. For my money it beats the kiddie-bar nightclubs like Tantra or Outlaws any day. Ducky's aint no modern hotspot but I wouldn't call it a dive...ever been to the Back Alley? They don't call it the CRACK Alley for nothing! Get a bunch of people in our little pub hootinng and hollering, and it turns into a pretty good party.

Did I mention lots of eye candy? Dunno why, but much hotness, lately.

As for lineups, we don't have 'em every night, that's true, but 2 or 3 times a month I end up holding people at the door. We don't have a real big fire limit...only 150. By the number of people clicking the map, we could definitely have one THIS time.

Yes, by the way, we WILL have a Farker's section. I'll have tables for Farkers reserved in the section with our best server, who reminds you to "Drink lots and tip even more!"

Specials:
65oz Jugs of Ducky's Lager (just Canadian with our name on it) or Carling Black Label: $13.00
Jagermeister and other Shooters: $3.25
Happy Hour prices on bottled beer and bar shots till 8pm.
Kitchen open till 11pm.

We're not the cheapest place, I agree, but you can easily pay ALOT more for your booze elsewhere in this city.

Sadly, I'm on a flight early the next morning.

Too bad. I was wondering when the next one would come up. Brewster's was a good time (thanks again for setting that one up, Tim), didn't make #2. By that I mean the second Calgary Fark party, of course. It's not like I have a regularity problem or anything, or that I take intense pride at having not shiat my pants at the party. Ok, I'll just shut up about that now.

Isn't ducky's the place that's over top of that nightclub by Chinook LRT? The map looks like it points otherwise. I'm an old dude, so if it ain't the Rose or the Ship, I don't have much of an idea.

That's the old "Lucky Duck" - now called the Foggy Dew.

Ducky's is on 4th St. - 4 blocks south of the Rose & Crown.

2005-02-05 07:45:10 PM
Bah, stupid work!
It's right around the corner too.... Last time we went to Duckys we go chased away by the Paddy Wagon.

2005-02-05 08:06:39 PM
done and done. see you there.

2005-02-05 09:14:21 PM
Sounds as good as a professor Frink convention - Glaybin!

I've got a few porkchop stickers that I'd be glad to share with Calgary Farkers. And just maybe I'll have some magnetic baboons for calgary fark fridges (a side project involving distribution of non-products via nerds like, uh me.)

I heart Macaque.

but its no Mandril .

Sorry I'll miss it. I'm always up for some karaoke at Ducky's. I blew out my vocal cords last year in that picture in my profile.

Are you there most nights? I'll be sure to say hi when I am at Ducky's next.

2005-02-05 11:26:35 PM
Heh, I just got invited to a birthday party there on the same night. Busy night for Ducky's I guess.

I forgot you do karaoke there. That's definitely a deal breaker for me. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure it's lots of fun, but the sound of people hollering a song completely off key causes me physical pain. I know, I'm a snob ... sorry. Have a good time, farkers.

2005-02-06 12:47:11 AM
Well, found my wife works a double-shift for the pub crawl night, so that frees me up to head down to Ducky's for a few pints now. The ultimate question though, how will we be able to all find each other at first there?

2005-02-06 04:09:36 AM
Sweet. I check the Fark Party thread, and here it is right at the top.

2005-02-11 04:54:04 PM
Well, the best laid plans...

We're still looking forward to having all the Farkers there tonight, but the reserved seating may now be very limited. Seems that the party Dorkasaurus mentions isnt the only confirmed booking for tonight.

We'll still have lots of room for folks, and everything else (specials, entertainment, etc.) will go "as advertised". The 2 tables that are set aside for the Fark Party will have Fark signs on them. With no way of knowing whether we'll have one or a hundred Farkers, my boss won't give me much in the way of reserved tables.

RBaron71 I'm on the door every weekend night, and behind the Bar on Sundays, so be sure to say Hi!

If history is any indication, by about 10:30 tables don't get usd much, anyway. Most people tend to be partying near the dance floor/stage or mingling around the bar.

2005-02-11 06:02:54 PM
Well, I'll be there with another farker/lurker, have to look for the tables then I guess. Should be down there about 8:30 I figure. Hopefully we get a turnout like we did for the one at Brewsters a while back.

2005-02-11 10:30:06 PM
We're 'a comin'.
