thats nuts! it so is a GI Joe!

2005-02-01 02:16:19 PM
That IS a very odd-looking photo. What gives?

2005-02-01 02:17:34 PM
If thats GI Joe, how come he didn't use his kung fu grip??

Look at the little rifle. Funny! They can just pop his head off.

2005-02-01 02:22:51 PM
Yeah, I'm beginning to think it's a hoax too. That rifle they're holding to the head... something's wrong with that... Can't pick it out, but looking a little suspect to me.

The blank look on soldiers face, as well as his shirt riding up on his shoulders like that...

Let me be the first to call Shenanigans!

/you might think it's BS too, but I called shenanigans first. You gotta make the call!

2005-02-01 02:22:52 PM
You'll notice they decided not to screw with Snake Eyes.

2005-02-01 02:24:33 PM
Well, this is definitely good news!

2005-02-01 02:25:51 PM
Knowing if the picture is real is half the battle

2005-02-01 02:25:54 PM
No freaking way... that fooled someone? Who works in news? And isn't legally blind?

Now, I could see if the image was more blurry and grainy, it would look more plausible, but then again, you'd wonder with a grainy image if it was real.

Hell, a fark photoshop contest can probably produce some pretty realistic photos.

2005-02-01 02:27:05 PM
xmscratch nailed it. I'm officially on the shenanigans bandwagon.

2005-02-01 02:27:59 PM
Another shenanigans vote. Hahaha, I hope this gets greenlighted

2005-02-01 02:28:24 PM
Oh, and the 'hostage' has a rather weird-looking M-16 pointed at his head... umm.. these terrorists ALL use AK-47s. I mean, have you ever even seen a terrorist using an M-16? Even in the damn movies they use AK-47s all the time.

2005-02-01 02:29:03 PM
Stompn_Tom- kudos on the reference.

arniebuteft- why would it not surprise me that a farker is up to playing with dolls lately?

2005-02-01 02:30:35 PM
Here's the full pic (which i posted in another, dead thread)

Looks like he has a shrunken head.

2005-02-01 02:31:14 PM
Wanted for questioning...

2005-02-01 02:31:17 PM
Derka Derka.

Don't tell me I'm the only one who thought of that.

2005-02-01 02:34:09 PM
If this turns out to be what it looks like, this will be one of the more comedic news events of all time.

Just Ignorant:

Possible future photoshop thread if the pic is fake?

SECSManiac: Possible future photoshop thread if the pic is fake?

Possible cliche in the making

2005-02-01 02:38:01 PM
K, for those of you that missed the "MODEL" pop:

2005-02-01 02:38:53 PM
I hope they don't pull his head off.

2005-02-01 02:40:17 PM
Santos:

Heh, I laughed out loud at that :)

2005-02-01 02:41:57 PM
Ok, it's official. I forgive the terrorists for pissing me off this time. the pic xmscratch posted does it for me.

This is the best laugh I've had all week. This is right up there with them using the pic from Bert is evil on that poster.

The insurgents have indeed captured a 'real American hero'.

As a rebuttal, I'm going out to buy Cobra Commander, and dangle him over a vat of "acid".

Release our POWs, of there will be hell to pay at the Toys R Us!

Santos:

Hehe... that'll be the next pic in the series... the poor dude's head sitting in his lap, with ketchup applied liberally to the vital areas.

2005-02-01 02:42:49 PM
Am I the only 31 year old who still has his GI Joe action figures (though they're packed away in a box somewhere)?

/no, I don't play with them.

2005-02-01 02:43:36 PM
He was probably captured when the APC he was travelling in was hit by an IED.

2005-02-01 02:46:02 PM
His name is Cody. Looks like they already beheaded him.

2005-02-01 02:46:45 PM
Or... in a terrible twist of fate, the Army will announce shortly that the terrorists have captured Pfc. John Adam, who coincidentally was the model for Hasbro's latest GI Joe action figure.

2005-02-01 02:47:59 PM
Al-Zarqawi must be Zartan's new identity.

/anyone wanna sell their GI Joe comic books to me for cheap? :)

2005-02-01 02:57:38 PM
See!? he's being held hostage by a miniature plastic gun!

THAT'S why they don't let you take toy plastic guns on airplanes! And you all laughed at the TSA taking away GI JOE's 2 inch gun....

2005-02-01 02:59:09 PM
I hear that they are threatening to pull off one of his arms and replace it with one of the other "hostage's" arms.

2005-02-01 03:01:31 PM
Goddamn this thread is too much fun!

BEEE240: Lord knows I tried that with my action figures, though usually it was just swapping the upper half and the legs...

2005-02-01 03:04:57 PM
Wait a minute.... I think I know who the terrorist is! It's my older sister!

2005-02-01 03:26:04 PM
Somebody is on the way in to rescue him!

2005-02-01 03:26:59 PM

Battle Boy wanted for questioning.

2005-02-01 03:30:21 PM
haha

2005-02-01 03:31:21 PM
So a picture is now worth a thousand retractions?

2005-02-01 03:31:26 PM
If it's just an "action figure" and not a real soldier - what gives?

1. Either its a group wanting to make a practical joke (terrorist or not).

2. Real wannabe terror group. If this is true, then they just made themselves look like dumbasses.

2005-02-01 03:31:38 PM
I bet the terrorists saw a bootleg copy of "Team America" and thought it was real people in that, too.

2005-02-01 03:31:55 PM
"... and COBRA shall rule the world!"

/got nothing

2005-02-01 03:32:30 PM
Now that is a real American hero.

2005-02-01 03:32:30 PM
CNN Headline News is still reporting this with concern in their voices.

Funniest news story of the week.

2005-02-01 03:32:36 PM
Well, sadly, we do have a fake president inaction figure...

/fire up

That's an AR-15, not an M-16. And you can see on the top where someone used an Exacto knife to remove the scope.

2005-02-01 03:33:23 PM
notice no one is holding the gun, no hand behind the clip on the grip or trigger. Good ol' superglue.

2005-02-01 03:33:43 PM
weapon of choice?

2005-02-01 03:33:49 PM
i say fake...dont the insurgents use AK47's?

2005-02-01 03:33:54 PM
This is usually when I would send in that giant Samauri guy from the Thundercats. He was always my enforcer.

2005-02-01 03:34:13 PM
Couldnt you just feel the media drooling over this story?

They got pwnd!!

2005-02-01 03:34:15 PM
Durka, durka, Muhammed, Jihad!

Ahhh! Durka, durka, durka!
