Just wanted to remind everyone about this. Some people were interested, some skeptical, others simply think Im crazy. Im planning on arriving at Fat Harrys well before the 5 p.m. kick-off since I live nearby. Post or send me an email in my profile if you can make it. Last years crowds werent too bad, and the weather is supposed to be kind of lousy, so that may keep the crowds down. Ill post updates here through tomorrow until I head over. Hope to see as many Farkers there as can make it. To identify our group, maybe I'll make a sign with the ubiquitous Fark squirrel. I'll figure something out.
2005-01-28 02:51:49 PM
Dude! I'm only 6 hours away (closest party yet). But I already made plans. Curses.
2005-01-28 02:56:04 PM
I'll be there!
2005-01-28 03:00:10 PM

/Can't attend.
2005-01-28 03:00:18 PM
Whaaah! I wanna go to N.O. and party.
*sniff* I'm so land locked to Atlanta.
2005-01-28 03:05:09 PM
Thanks for the initiative. I plan to be there, though of course hours of heavy drinking beforehand may derail me.
2005-01-28 03:06:19 PM
I would love to get back to New Orleans and schtoop some drunk chicks, but alas I'm landlocked like farkvergnugen. (Whatever that means.)
2005-01-28 03:06:27 PM
It wouldn't be a bad idea if it:
a)Wasn't at Fat Harry's
b)Wasn't on a parade route (especially right as I get off of work.)

Are there even non Fat Harry Fark parties in N.O.? I've only been TF for about 8 months.
2005-01-28 03:08:02 PM
This is the first N.O. Fark party that I know of, and I've been around about three years now. If this is successful, we may have to do it more often.
2005-01-28 03:10:08 PM
lousy weather in NO? blasphemy! great bar, have a good time everyone!

/no where near.
2005-01-28 03:11:19 PM
Have fun everyone!

/have always wanted to visit Nouveau d'Orleans
2005-01-28 03:14:46 PM
Was in New Orleans this New Years. Great place! Have fun.
2005-01-28 03:17:09 PM
Are there designated organizers or does someone just say "we're having a throwdown ________" and hope people show up.
For the record I prefer to never go to Fat Harry's.
2005-01-28 03:22:53 PM
MN! Cannot make it! I have always been jealous of other sites with Fark events and now I get one close enough to make and I can't.

Although its been a while since I was a regular I spent many, many moons at Harry's, 4141, Cooter Brown's, Mothers/Madigans, AT II, the Boot, Jed's, Maple Leaf, Tips, Dianecious and others. A wonder I can still remember.

What's wrong with Fat Harry's?

/laissez les bon temps roulle
/eh las bas
/Tulane and Broad
2005-01-28 03:23:35 PM
Hey, if we have any African-American farkers coming, we should go to Razzoo's.

Oh, wait...
2005-01-28 03:24:10 PM
Well, I don't know about others, but yes, this is sort of just a loosely organized affair to see if people wanted to get together and catch a parade. It seems like a pretty good choice on the first weekend. For Orpheus or Bacchus, that would be a poor choice, no doubt.

And I have absolutely no problem with Fat Harry's. Of course, living a block and a half from it influences my feelings. But, if anyone else wants to ever get together anywhere else, I'd be willing to go if I'm free. Even next Saturday off - way, way off - the Endymion route would be fine with me.
2005-01-28 03:24:13 PM
How this makes me miss my Tulane days. Wish I could make it.

2005-01-28 03:26:27 PM
I'm in Baton Rouge, but I can't make it either...
2005-01-28 03:26:42 PM
I'll be there
2005-01-28 03:27:39 PM
This brings back the memories of drunken abandon at the Gras.

/Jealous in Philly.
//Laissez les bons temps rouler.
2005-01-28 03:30:32 PM

Cold blooded m Farker! Really a damn shame. Just when we might be getting somewhere.

I have seen some posts here by an Aferican American farker but can't remember his name. Would like to meet him and have a chat. Sometime I agree with him, sometimes not.

/could always go to Dooky Chase
2005-01-28 03:31:23 PM
crash pad dad

I prefer to hang out in bars with locals than those that cater to the "passing through" frat crowds. Also, I like good beer. I'm more of a Molly's, Turtle Bay, R Bar, Snug Harbor type, but I do agree with you on the Maple Leaf and Tips every now and then.
2005-01-28 03:32:34 PM
Also, rebby, it's Nouvelle-Orleans. Might want to work on the French there, skippy.

Not that anyone HERE speaks French either.

2005-01-28 03:35:47 PM
DAMNIT! I'm in Lafayette but won't be able to make it. (Gotta move). Drat

crash pad talkin to me?

/Razzoo's is great. mmmm Bicardi 151 shots out of a test tube.
2005-01-28 03:36:35 PM

/ev-er-y year, for Carnival time, we make a new suit...
2005-01-28 03:38:51 PM
Ack! During Mardi Gras no less.

Seems like downtown has changed into a year-long Girls Gone Wild video. With matching expensive-ass overpriced alcohol.
2005-01-28 03:39:29 PM
I'll be there with bells on.

Corgic first round is on you - sucka.....
2005-01-28 03:39:38 PM

i don't believe so. i can't recall his handle but would know it if i saw it. believe he works in the legal system.

/always looking to expand horizons...
2005-01-28 03:43:54 PM

You still in Lafayette?
2005-01-28 03:44:33 PM
Of course! You at UL or another?
2005-01-28 03:44:48 PM
Speaking of GGW, they're gonna be at the Boot on Lundi Gras, with "special guest" Sir-Mix-a-Lot. A guy at my office moonlights as a light/sound guy for events, and he's working that night. Figure I can carry a speaker or two, just for the chance to see THAT fais do do.

battl_web, I can't believe the New Year's incident at Razzoo's didn't reach you up north. Serious?
2005-01-28 03:45:18 PM
i live uptown... ill be there
2005-01-28 03:46:33 PM
although i must say im not a fan of fat harrys
2005-01-28 03:48:56 PM
Yep back at UL. I hate that campus. I don't know what brought me back...oh yeah a job paying more money than in Mandeville. But the offices at UL suck. You don't work there do you?

I can't believe the New Year's incident at Razzoo's didn't reach you up north. Serious?

What happened at Razzoo's. Do they still let drunken white girls get on stage and do wet t shirt karaoke?
2005-01-28 03:52:51 PM
Some bouncers at Razoo's killed a black college student out front who wanted to get in with a friend. The bouncers claimed the kid, who was from out of town, and/or his friend violated the "dress code" at Razoo's. They threw him on the ground and piled on him, and by the time the NOPD got over to him, he was unconscious. Died later. Coroner ruled it a homocide.

And the next night an older doctor got assaulted out front of Galatoire's and fractured his skull, apparently out of something that happened between himself and a younger guy from Texas as they were eating inside. Crazy weekend on Bourbon St.
2005-01-28 03:54:20 PM
Damn, I bet New Orleans Fark Parties are the best. I'm tempted to jump on a Southwest flight outta D/FW to attend this one.
2005-01-28 03:57:22 PM
"What happened at Razzoo's?"

Between Christmas and New Year's there is a flag football tournament in town (at UNO I believe). Some black guys from Georgia State are in town to play. They go to Razzoo's and they let all but one guy in because he does not have proper attire! (He's wearing jeans and a button down dress shirt.) A scuffle ensues and 3 (white) bouncers suffocate him to death.

Like I said, damn shame. Not proper attire. Its Razzoo's man, there is no proper attire.
2005-01-28 04:01:30 PM
damn that's jacked up. Okay...maybe I won't be going to Razoo's anymore. And to think, that's the place I spent the most of my time at back in the day. When I'm down there now, I usually get some beignets from Cafe Du Monde...walk down the street and start getting daiquiris from various places as I start my march to Harrah's to blow a few bucks and get more drinks for free.

I'm supposed to go for Mardi Gras weekend, but I got a lot of stuff to move and if I do make it my wife's family has a big party I gotta attend.
2005-01-28 04:06:24 PM
Our usual attire in Razoo's was t-shirts and jeans. I mean, who da fark gets dressed up to go on Bourbon? I did that once and when a cop on horse pushed me out the way to get somewhere I stepped into a deep puddle of water and messed up my Polo linen pants and suede shoes. I go in stuff I don't mind getting messy now.

/Razoo's was also the only place that would let us in without ID
2005-01-28 04:09:31 PM
Also, I should perhaps mention that I won't be there either.
2005-01-28 04:10:44 PM
I stepped into a deep puddle of water...

On Bourbon St.? You'd be lucky if that was just water and nothing else.

Quarter gravy - yuck.
2005-01-28 04:12:03 PM
How about having another one a week from this Saturday, when I will be there?
2005-01-28 04:16:35 PM
If you want to do the cheesy drunk french quarter wet t-shirt ho thing you can always go to Utopia.
2005-01-28 04:25:56 PM
There have been previous Fark Parties in Nawlins. Almost three years ago to the day, I was there myself:

[image from too old to be available]

Thanks to Mike for the pic.
2005-01-28 04:36:37 PM
Drat would love to be there but you know..Wife and child = babysitter needed to party :(
2005-01-28 04:43:24 PM
Hey, I go to college at Loyola.

I was wondering, will the party still be going strong at 8 PM? That's the earliest I can get there.
2005-01-28 04:49:32 PM
I can't promise it will, but I can't imagine why not.
2005-01-28 04:51:26 PM
Yeah the partying doesnt stop in n.o.
I get off work at 6 ish, and have to drive from harrahs, but ill find a way around the parade , this is awesome.
As for the crowds, its a week before mardi gras so most of the tourists arent in town yet, it shouldnt be too bad.
2005-01-28 04:53:15 PM

It's New Orleans; it's Mardi Gras. Do you really think that a party starting at 5pm would be over by 8pm?
