proves people are idiots.
First for speeding in a school zone.
Second for thinking people will slow down for a plastic milk jug.
Third for slowing down for a plastic milk jug.
Fourth for having a president who slashes school budgets so much that schools can't afford a sign so people don't hit kids with cars..
Fifth for all the americans who voted for #4, TWICE.

Shall I continue?

2005-01-28 12:41:56 AM
no, you have adequately proven #1 by blaming Bush.

Clever. Until this story goes live and the secret's out.

Eh, let 'em run the little nose-pickers down.

The bait is set! Will the FARKers fall for adamjacobmuller's trap? Tune in this time, tomorrow, to find out!

This is:

A) An example of out-of-the-box thinking overcoming common carelessness.

B) An example of a stupid idea overcoming even stupider people.

C) A vast, right wing conspiracy keep us dependent on foreign oil, even at the cost of our own children.

So who's this Bush guy? I've heard about him a lot lately. Sometimes it seems like almost every second person I talk to is fixated on him. Probably just my imagination though.

There's at least one company that sells cardboard cut-outs of cops that you are supposed to put in your store, and they apparently cut down on shoplifting.

A hair dryer works pretty well too... although I don't get how people can be intimidated by a guy standing there with a radar gun. He can't even chase you... unless he's the Flash...

HOLY CRAP THE FLASH IS A PRINCIPAL!

They should just do what they do at my high school: park a cop across the road from the parking lot. After a few days where every kid gets a ticket as they leave, they tend to drive a lot better.
/#1 in America!

I dislike Bush, but I dislike people who create bullshiat reasons to dislike Bush when there are so many reasonable reasons to do so.

adamjacobmuller:

I'll agree with your first, third, and fifth points wholeheartedly, though my agreement with the fifth has nothing to do with this particular incident.

That this Principal actually found a cheap, low-tech solution to the problem that works is ingenious, not stupid.

As much as I dislike Bush I'm not going to blame him specifically for the lack of money for this sign. This should be handled by the city or county as it is their road. If the school cannot come up with the funding and the municipality won't, then the school district or school board needs to. Signs like this aren't exactly a normal expense, as teachers, classroom supplies, and support services are quite a bit higher on the priority list. Schools are always tight with money, so this school would have to hold a fundraiser anyway, as the vast majority of their funding is already allocated as soon as the school fiscal year budget is written.

Arizona now has a lower class license for people under eighteen or with less than a year's experience driving, and receiving a single citation that is upheld could cause the person's license to be revoked. I really wish that they'd park cops next to our highschool campuses too...

Mind tricks don't work on me. Well they don't work on my radar detector anyways.

He could have saved even more money by pointing his wang at the cars. At least, the cars slow down when I point my wang at them.

A hair dryer works pretty well too...

Reminds me of this scene from BBTF, although you can't see the hair dryer in this shot:

"I am DARTH VADER! I come from the planet VULCAN!

The Hair dryer was tucked in his belt and aimed at George in a shot that was cut, but can be seen on the box set DVDs.

2005-01-28 01:47:08 AM
You know they'd slow down more if he used a Jeff Stryker Monster Cock & Balls.

2005-01-28 01:47:49 AM
Wouldn't that be "impersonating a police officer", thus making it illegaL? O.o

A cop with a radar gun doesn't have to catch you. Why do you think every car has a unique license plate number? They just write it down and mail you the ticket.

DonSlice
If you find a precinct where pointing a milk jug at somebody is actually considered credible enough to convict you for impersonating a police officer, I will give you a cookie. I mean, seriously, I will put a batch of them in a gladware container and ship the box to you.

Also consider, the ownership of radar guns isn't restricted to police.

2005-01-28 01:54:54 AM
i've inadvertantly done the same w/ my camera...

driving somewhere along the leftward coast, i stopped and set up the tripod along an embankment so i could shoot some nighttime long exposures of the coastline...after about 10 minutes, i noticed the cars coming around the curve were positively freaked by this shiny apparatus.

...so i started taking pictures of them freaking out, instead

2005-01-28 01:56:01 AM
He has to be in a uniform to impersonat an officer.
Gotta give the principal credit for a creative way to solve a problem. Myself, I would point 1 of my 12 gauges at the speders front grills. Man thats a real attention getter. hehehehe

Perhaps one of the local businesses could donate a "big a$$ speedbump" (with their advertisement on it of course).

I love watching the morans with Starbucks in one hand and a cigarette in the other when they spill the drink while steering with one palm.

"Nowadays cars drive so smooth, and they accelerate so quickly, I would say 90 percent of the people don't realize they are speeding," said city traffic administrator Ryan Boothe.

What orifice did this retard pull that statistic from, his butt hole?

2005-01-28 02:16:33 AM
/sigh
I was thinking they meant the other kind of milk jugs.

2005-01-28 02:16:35 AM
heap

That's a pretty cool picture. Do you have others uploaded somewhere that I could see?

2005-01-28 02:17:32 AM
The headline is way funnier if you picture him just hurling a full milk jug at speeders.

2005-01-28 02:18:25 AM
stupid for thinking everyone will slow down for a radar sign.

2005-01-28 02:37:33 AM
And to think, once upon a time, there were still a few Americans who allegedly believed in Personal Responsibility as an alternative to more electronic monitoring by law enforcement. This story won't be complete until a law enforcement wing of a government consumer products safety comes down on this person for improper and unsafe use of an empty milk jug.

2005-01-28 02:38:55 AM
"police reported 15 accidents last year, more than one per month"

I think we're dealing with a mathematical genius here.

2005-01-28 02:39:09 AM
All they need to do is get cops sitting out there and busting every person going over the speed limit. All the fines would pay for them being there, and it would set a MAJOUR precident.

A cop with a radar gun doesn't have to catch you. Why do you think every car has a unique license plate number? They just write it down and mail you the ticket.

I somehow doubt they would be able to get all that at high speed. Here in Ontario on tickets they have the make of car, the colour, the plate number, and if any of that is incorrect the ticket is invalid and can get tossed in court.

God Bless America:

80 billion more dollars for a useless war based on pretend information...

0 dollars for speedlimit signs near schools.

Who's for another round of tax cuts? Anyone?

2005-01-28 06:17:00 AM
I suggest the school put the milk jug on eBay with a catchy story. They will have their $4000 and then some by next week.

2005-01-28 06:25:49 AM
Did anybody read the rest of the stories?

From the one at the end, i think:
"Do I look like I have a demon?"

Wow. Where do you start with that one?

So, what makes him think people will slow down because a sign says they're going 40MPH in a 20MPH zone?

Also, I hope that guy gets arrested! He could kill someone! People could think he's a cop, slow down suddenly, and cause a wreck!

2005-01-28 08:09:14 AM
lololololol

I used to do the same thing with a barcode scanner.

So, what makes him think people will slow down because a sign says they're going 40MPH in a 20MPH zone? Because a lot of people think those things record them. Remember, most of the planet is pretty stupid.

2005-01-28 08:32:41 AM
I've been in speed traps where there's an officer with a radar gun and few hundred feet down the road is the officer in the patrol car that pulls out behind the speeder after the radar gun cop radios him.
