2002-03-11 09:46:03 AM

TOO MUCH CGI.

Knitwit This was front page of /. Is FARK really going to make it any worse?

2002-03-11 09:47:22 AM
I bet The Two Towers trailor will be better than the actual Episode II movie.

2002-03-11 09:47:49 AM
When do we get to see the alternate ending labeled "Luke Skywalker is Chewbaca's father."

2002-03-11 09:48:09 AM
And people care about this, because...?

2002-03-11 09:51:24 AM
It looks so completely completely fake. It's like a cartoon with actors running around on it. Its fake like Britney's boobs. Terrible.

2002-03-11 09:51:33 AM
saw it last night, wasn't all that thrilled

Deus, I agree, too much CGI.

For a second I thought I was watching a trailer for Final Fantasy II.

2002-03-11 09:52:20 AM
i'm just going to watch highlander 2 instead. it's a lot cheaper to stay at home and watch shiatty films.

2002-03-11 09:52:43 AM
Why?

2002-03-11 09:53:33 AM
The funny thing is: the fake one from a few months ago
(featuring battle scenes from "Braveheart" with lightsabers
added in) looked more "real" than this one.

At least Lucas appears to be trying to appease the fans.
Everybody freaked out on the "Anakin's Creek" looking stuff
so he brings out the "ass kickin' action" trailer.

2002-03-11 09:55:05 AM
this early into it, and the LotR fanboys have already came out the woodwork..........funny, losers you are

2002-03-11 09:58:04 AM
I've been camping next to my computer for two months just waiting for this!

2002-03-11 09:59:24 AM
I bet The Two Towers trailor [sic] will be better than the actual Episode II movie.

Ha. I bet that the LOTR cut scenes were better than this Ep II movie will be.

2002-03-11 09:59:25 AM
No Jar-Jar in sight. That's enough for me.

2002-03-11 10:01:38 AM
I heard all the actors and all the scenes are going to be completely computer generated in the last one.

2002-03-11 10:01:42 AM
lol check out the server usage stats for this morning:

Fark effect, anyone?

2002-03-11 10:02:43 AM
Um, strike that, I wasn't paying attention. The spike that's yet to come, we can attribute to fark. This stuff happened mostly before the link was posted...

2002-03-11 10:02:46 AM
I cant wait that long!!

2002-03-11 10:04:07 AM
In the old days we used to have commercials delivered to us, now, you young whipersnappers actually go out of your way to get commercials.

2002-03-11 10:05:12 AM
Why do people have so high hopes for the new Starwars movies?

The first ones sucked in every way except for special effects at that time. Acting is bad to medicore and the dialog is TERRIBLE.

Then EP1 comes out and people are all just yess it must be a masterpeace, which I dont get since the first ones were anything but a masterpeace. That movie was aimed at the SAME audiance as the first movies, kids from 8-16.

Why dont you people learn?

2002-03-11 10:06:24 AM
the third episode will have younger computer-generated mark hammil and carrie fisher playing themselves.

2002-03-11 10:13:13 AM
LOTR ownz J00.

2002-03-11 10:14:51 AM
Geez, why do they insist on using higher-version codecs for all these formats? Divx5?

2002-03-11 10:17:11 AM
I have the ability to watch movies and merely enjoy myself. So shut the fark up, all you whiners. Yeah, you.

On a lighter note. Jengo owns and lightsabers do not go out in the rain, they merely go *twisssh*

2002-03-11 10:17:32 AM
Neither divx5 nor quicktime pro will play on my box... ;( Stupid Linux...

2002-03-11 10:19:42 AM
I didn't follow the TV series, is Wheaton in the movie?

2002-03-11 10:20:06 AM
The trailer looked like a commercial for a freaking video game. They were diving through "stompers" for deity's sake! I mean, the energy walls in Ep1 were blatantly video-game fodder but this is ridiculous, the whole trailer looked like a setup for a series of games.

Longing for the days when merchandizing was just cheap little plastic figurines.

2002-03-11 10:29:21 AM
George Lucas misunderstands that a good movie is not all CGI...But, looks good regarless. But, not my first priority to watch.

2002-03-11 10:31:38 AM
freddiemiles1: that goes without saying. before the movie "royal tenenbaums", they played the star wars and Lord of the Rings trailers back to back. star wars looks pathetic.

boobies on the side: some of us have standards and avoid mediocrity.

2002-03-11 10:31:48 AM
Can we not judge the movie till we see it? I'm curious. I liked parts of the first one and I hope this one is fun too. I just want to be entertained, and if this accomplishes that I'll be happy.

2002-03-11 10:37:56 AM
DivX 5? Most people are still trying to figure out how to install it without screwing up the rest of their codecs.

2002-03-11 10:44:01 AM
Everything I wanted to say was said already. Cartoon, video game, bad. It looks like a mess to me. Plus R2D2 FLIES? WTF!!!!

2002-03-11 10:48:58 AM
Personally, I thought the trailer looked pretty good. Better than the last one at least.

2002-03-11 10:49:17 AM

Do you think Lucas will kill off the character that will probably be the most popular (Jengo Fett) as fast as he killed off this popular (and most memorable ) character ?

2002-03-11 10:49:20 AM
Since there's so much biatching about what people DON'T want to see (and I'll assume that most of the complaints are coming from people who on varying levels are SW fans), what is it exactly that you DO want to see?

2002-03-11 10:51:32 AM
Czar - That movie was aimed at the SAME audiance as the first movies, kids from 8-16.

No, it wasn't. The first Star Wars movie was aimed at teenagers. Ep1 was aimed at small children, hence Annakin "Yippee" Skywalker, Jar-Jar "Steps in Poop" Binks, and the ham-handed racial stereotypes. The fact that the movie also contained some rather dull political/economic subplots AND someone getting chopped in half with a lightsaber, indicates to me that Lucas couldn't decided what the hell kind of movie he was trying to make.

You have to admit that A New Hope was at least consistent in this regard. Never too childish, never too chatty. And a decent sense of humor to boot.

2002-03-11 10:56:33 AM
Yeah I thought it looked pretty good too!

2002-03-11 10:57:39 AM
I'm stoked that so many of you pussies are going to stay away from the theaters when this comes out. That'll make it easier for me to get in.

I have the ability to watch movies and merely enjoy myself. So shut the fark up, all you whiners. Yeah, you.

A-farking-men, brother.

God, what happened to you people? Why are your lives so devoid of wonder?

Grand Took,

That server isn't worried about us download the trailer. It is falling prey to a far more powerful beast, the mighty slashdot!

2002-03-11 11:04:39 AM
Skinink: Darth Maul was a pretty lame character. Despite the attempt at a fierce makeup job, the actor had no presence and his background track wasn't impressive.

Darth Maul and his double-dong rode of a farking scooter, for pete's sake. How bad-ass can somebody be when riding on a hover scooter?

2002-03-11 11:14:45 AM
i haven't sat in a movie theatre since the matrix, i think i speak for most people when i say that every1 will watch this movie at least once. if you can waste your time watching meg ryan and rusel crowe movies, one little more bit fo garbage won't hurt you.

2002-03-11 11:21:21 AM
Ep1 played like a bad farking nintendo game, and Ep2 will be more of the same.

Doughy nerds will camp out the theatres with thier magic cards and gameboys with baited breath anyway.
