No problem, with all these Neo-con tough guys ready to sign up, we could kick N Koreas little fanny in no time.

Hell it would be a cake-walk, I guarantee it!

They will probably greet us as liberators. They will probably throw flowers at our feet as we blast anyone/anything that moves. They will probably bow down and wash our feet with wine and dry them with their hair.

Probably not.

I thought we were above that on FARK.NET?

On Fark, where Bush is regularly compared unfavorably to Hitler, where anybody who voted for him is dismissed as stupid and irrelevant, where half the population thinks Christians should not have the right to vote, if calling Iran a threat in the 1980s is wrong it is a quite trivial infraction in context. And I don't think the accusation is wrong. I remember the hostage crisis. Since the revolution Iran has been a major supporter of terrorism.

B82:

If ourr soldiers were dying by the hundreds of thousands (because that's what it would be in N. Korea) in North Korea, you guys would approve because of a real nuclear threat?

Um...yeah. It's called "telling the truth." I'd also support casualties incurred from continued actions against Osama, but Bush cancelled that campaign faster than a WMD search.

"Who said anything about free speech? It's the growing attitude in this country that any kind of criticism makes you a traitor. This country is by the people and for the people, and thus any opinion a citizen holds shouldn't be dismissed as unpatriotic."

No kidding, and any retort dismissing your opinion shouldn't automatically mean that we are living in 1984. That said, it may be going too far to suggest that liberal views are inherently anti-American, even though it may seem that sometimes liberals are hoping things go badly in Iraq/Afghanistan/North Korea just so Ted Kennedy can have another talking point.

Now we are supporting bad regimes in places like Pakistan as part of the "war on terror".

The most likely alternative to the "bad" regime is a fundamentalism Islamic government eager to go to war to take back Kashmir and generally export violence. I would call that "worse."

Its the "in" thing to do: disregard any "down-to-earth common sense" ideas as being ...simply..."stupid", and label those who think that way ..."trolls".

Because the mind of a ..."troll"...doesn't function on the high....intellectual.....level it takes to understand that in order to see the world as a conservative does, you must simply....BE..."stupid".

Heh, the WWOD bracelet crack wasn't meant to say that we live in 1984. I honestly believe that'll never happen in the US, the country would sooner collapse. However, it does seem that people are more often now apt to copy attitudes and expressions that the book warned about in the first place.

Find a suitable lair. Lay in wait for terrorist suspect.

Upon arrival of terrorist suspect, perform cavity search for WMDs.
Tell them to, "Bear down, this will hurt."

Wipe hands on anything available. You dont know where that dirty terrorist has been.

>>>Bush is regularly compared unfavorably to Hitler

When he stops acting like Hitler the comparisons will end.

>>>where anybody who voted for him is dismissed as stupid and irrelevant

Irrelevant, no. Stupid? I never met them, but I know that only about 10% of Republicans can be considered "wealthy"...which leaves 90% as "stupid."

>>>where half the population thinks Christians should not have the right to vote

Please cite examples (other than your anus) of where this is true.

Bottom line: Don't like the name-calling and vitriol? Have your cowardly cohorts refrain from calling anyone who doesn't agree with this OBVIOUSLY INCOMPETANT president a "traitor." Otherwise, move along.

Holy crap, that's a lot of WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH LIBERAL OPPRESSION WAAAAAAAAH! in one post. And wow, the amount of exaggerate-for-effect is just insane. Let me clarify this, in case anyone is stupid enough to think ZAZ is right about liberals.

Hitler = Worse than Bush
Bush Voters = Believed the Bullshiat - Only half at fault
Christian Voters = Vote! Just please, please, please try not to infringe on my farking life or rights.
Iran = Minor threat in 1980's. Nation = Not Threat / Fundamentalist Haven = Threat.

Iran hasn't been a major supporter of terrorism in years - well, until we invaded the guy next door. The -government- of Iran doesn't support terror, but the fundies do. Maybe we should have helped strengthen that government, hm?

The only reason I brought up Clinton is to show the hypocrisy that of the people who are "outraged" that we are friendly with Musharif now when they weren't during the 90's. Its just like the farktards blaming Bush for being friendly with Saudi Arabia when every president since FDR has been as well.

I love reading the babblings of anti-American liberals. They try so hard to look like they know what they are talking about. Too bad it makes them look like the idiots they are.

What an amazingly articulate and intellectual statement. You have certainly put them in their place. You not only clearly define your cause and outline your thesis, but provide evidence of their folly while at the same time outlining your well thought out solutions to global issues based on your years of research and study into international relations.~

and say we had no business going to Iraq because the chemical and biological weapons our troops found and DESTROYED...

don't count....as "WMD" to them.

wtf... I remember hearing a year or two ago that we found a very small number of shells with a little mustard gas in them. I'm not sure that was even totally confirmed. And that's it. What biological weapons?

We have not found WMDs in Iraq. That's common knowledge. I don't know what you're reading, but to make such claims that fly in the face of almost all other sources, you'd best post some really hard evidence. Send it to Bush while you're at it.

SweetlyKali:

I can see the one or two, but how do they jump to 'possibly more than eight'? Seems kind of a random call, doesn't it?

Based on their ability to produce plutonium, not at all. That's about how much plutonium for bombs they'd have had by mid-2003, according to intelligence estimates, enough for at least six to eight. It's probably a conservative estimate at that.

The plutonium is the hard part, since they certainly have the missle technology (they can hit the West Coast) and the nuclear know-how.

Problem is, he DID, and one of the strategic reasons for going to Iraq is to be able to better deal with Syria, Iran, and North Korea.

If the stategy your referring is access to the fuel required to wage war on the other side of the planet, you may actually be onto something. Problem is: a war waged for those reasons is nakedly imperialist in nature.

So, which is it:
The administration is characterized is one of nobility and altruism such that the world has never seen?
Or, the administration has been lying through their teeth about a matter of fundamental national security?

orange soup: why isn't the US "liberating" them?

The US would never invade a country that actually had nukes. If GWB was sure Iraq had WMD he NEVER would have invaded.

All the countries that exist in the world today should have their borders fixed and each be given at least one nuke as a deterant to invaders. All wars of arrgession would end.
