Awesome! Dead people! Too bad they aren't on fire, that would have made it so much cooler!

2005-01-26 10:19:59 AM
Also involved was a Union Pacific freight car, which ended up on its side. But how it figured in the accident was not immediately determined.

What? They don't know why it was there?
I don't get it.

2005-01-26 10:20:00 AM
Who the hell takes the train at 6 in the morning?

If I had to wake up that early, my live would be de-railed as well.

2005-01-26 10:21:04 AM
Wow. Waiting for the newsflash trifecta to be complete.

Hope everyones OK. First crappy weather and mudslides, now this. They're going to get our sympathy out there in lala land if this keeps up.

Wow, scary and sad. I'm glad I didn't see this before I rode the Metra into work this morning. I feel bad for all those people.

/all of you trying to make this political or racial should fark off

DARNIT

Someone beat me to the 24 reference :P

2005-01-26 10:23:03 AM
Ummm...plenty of folks get up that early. I am at work at 6:15 for my workday.

Many of those folks work 2 hours from where they live (east into the country) and they have to leave that early.

Maybe when you get out of college you'll realize that 9am isn't early and 3am is, in fact, late.

/crabby been at work for four hours guy

2005-01-26 10:26:21 AM
That train is freaking loud. I noticed that I was woken up by my alarm clock rather than the train crossing horns this morning. Soon though, glendale's jackasses will be awake and honking their car horns at eachother. (Glendale sucks)

2005-01-26 10:27:47 AM
Ouch.. this sucks.

2005-01-26 10:27:52 AM

jack's gonna put a cap in those terrorist scums ass

2005-01-26 10:28:21 AM
@ markbacker:

Guess that's the perk of living in a small country like The Netherlands. Traveling +one hour to your work is almost impossible.

And at the advertising agency where I work, it's normal to start 9:00. Actually, if you come too early (<8:30) the building isn't even opened, so you have to wait outside.

2005-01-26 10:28:54 AM
In other news, Hot97 is busily writing a hysterical parody song about it!

2005-01-26 10:29:06 AM
I am with you markbacker, up at 5:30 to be at work by 7. Can still vaugely remember the days when I thought 8am classes were way too early.

That html class was at 8 am.

2005-01-26 10:31:16 AM
Chunny The Metrolink trains in LA use the very same type of rolling stock and locomotives used by GO Transit.

As for people commuting to work, traffic on the LA highways start to back up even at 5:30 am, so a lot of people take the train. I think the first Metrolink train runs somewhere around 3:30 in the morning, pretty convenient, don't have to be handcuffed to your car!

2005-01-26 10:31:33 AM
BILLY was a mountain....

several re-reads and still missed it....

I apologize. I love the little people... especially that little midget that does pornos. I just meant like, a very small amount of people. I hope only a small number of people lost their lives in the train crash.

News is reporting that an automobile drove around the gates, the Metrolink hit it, it derails and crashes into the UP, and another Metrolink crashes into those 2.

Helicopter-cam just showed the Firemen covering up the UP locomotive...

The GO train is great. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't go from Toronto to Hamilton. It stops in Burlington and I have a catch a bus from there to McMaster University.

Can't win 'em all, but it does takes me to Union pretty quickly and the Ex in the summer so I won't complain

2005-01-26 10:53:22 AM

Great...now all the dead are going to come back as flesh eating zombies...better call these two.

(really though, it is such a tragedy)

2005-01-26 10:55:22 AM
my town is in the news...but for a horrible sad reason...so far the news is reporting 4 dead, hundreds injured....apparently the 2 metrolink trains somehow clipped each other and hit an apparently stopped union pacific train
