In re the Teddy Kennedy ad, that was a joke ad in the National Lampoon. They had their asses sued halfway to Sunday for it. VW had been running a series of ads about how the Beetle was so airtight it would float, take it from there.

Remember "The Producers"? Remember "Springtime for Hitler"? That movie wa made less than 25 years after World War II. At the time it was a HELL of a lot more offensive than this ad--and absolutely hilarious, as it still is. Who do you think was laughing the hardest of all? The Jews, of course. If your choice is between going with laughing or crying, take the laugh every time.

I'll end with one of my favorite jokes.

An explorer is traveling down a path through the jungle when he suddenly finds himself surrounded by a tribe of cannibals. "That's it" he says out loud. "I'm screwed." Suddenly the heavens part and he hears a Divine Voice say "You are NOT screwed. Pick up a big rock and kill the king of the cannibals." So he picks up a big rock and brains the cannibal king. My father is dying of lung cancer. Prognosis gives him maybe 6 months.

Day before yesterday I was staying at a friend's home due to weather-related annoyances. At some point something occurred on TV and he "taunted" the fellow on TV by making a comment like "Yeah!? Well I hope your father gets cancer!"

Seconds later, as his wife glared at him, he went ashen-faced. I, as he left the room embarrased, began laughing my ass off.

See? Something can affect me -directly- and yet I can still find humor in it.

Amazing, huh?

Right. If they're funny. Calling something tasteless is not the same thing as saying it isn't funny and vice versa. These flamebait trolls have got their panties in a knot trying to make it "my side vs. your side" and it's ridiculous. Both sides need to lighten up.

The Jetta is no longer part of my life, I couldn't afford to keep it past warranty. Now driving a spiffy American car with NO problems, that cost much less.

It is absurd that we are born and it is absurd that we will die.. so let's get on with laughing at it.
