I hope we get the follow up article cause this story is annoying, the news stations in Phoenix do crap like this all the time, and if you actually tune in and watch the first hour of crap the story turns out to be nothing like they made it out to be.
2005-01-22 07:43:20 PM
I call shenanigans on this story!
2005-01-22 07:43:32 PM
My theory:
1)Boy is bored in class. Girls say "OMG can we do your makeup? LOL" As a boy, he accepts anything a girl says to him.
2) Boy goes home to his redneck mother after forgetting to wash it off. She flips out and says "WTF y'all"
3) "teacher made me do it..."
2005-01-22 07:45:07 PM
In 5th grade our chairs were set up in a big circle and it just so happened that the girl across from me constantly pulled up her skirt and diddled herself under her desk. Unfortunately she was one of the most unappealing girls in the school.
2005-01-22 07:46:04 PM
I'm going to be the first passenger on the bullet-train to Hell, so let me just say it:

/wrong on so many levels...
2005-01-22 07:46:47 PM
We had a teacher force two guys to hold hands after they fought one day in the third grade. Both of them have are now confirmed pickle-sniffers.

/don't know the PC term for it.
2005-01-22 07:47:20 PM
Slightly more information.

Still not much, though.

They were probably just trying to get him used to forced feminization so when he hits 18 they can peddle his a$$ on fetish sites.

Awwww, looook ad Mattie....such a cute lil' girl.

"From now on, I want you all to call me Loretta."
"It's my right as a man."

Sorry, all the really strange stuff makes me think of Python lines. It's all part of my Unifying Mathematical Theory in which everything in the Universe somehow comes down to Monty Python dialogue.
2005-01-22 07:53:08 PM
I had a gal in 5th grade look over and say "I'm sorry" as she proceeded to pee on the class room floor......

/and you'd think I'd be into that now huh ?

2005-01-22 07:55:31 PM
And this is why TS people get no respect...
2005-01-22 07:56:14 PM

Worse story. First grade. Riding on school bus. Butt suddenly started getting warm. Didn't know why at first. Turns out kid sitting next to me puked all over the seat.
2005-01-22 07:59:51 PM
In school, there was this kid named Donald. And when he talked, he allowed saliva to fly everywhere. Oh, and his voice sounded like a duck. So we called him Bugs Bunny.

/He rode the small bus with me

That Tip! Still in denial, I see. He really ought to just accept his true gender-identity and get on with life already.

I screwed my high school art teacher. Granted, I was out of school for a few years, and she is now my lady, still she was my teacher.

Could someone explain this line fom the article:

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the minor by Ryan Thornberry, identified as his next friend.

His "Next friend ..." WTF?
2005-01-22 08:03:30 PM
Sounds like some weekend reporter is angling for a steady weekday job. The "UNLIKELY" tag would be much more appropriate here.
2005-01-22 08:03:57 PM

here is a gis of a boy in girls clothes. it took me longer than i thought. found this with term "boy tights" terms like "boy dressed girl" and "boy dress" got nothing

2005-01-22 08:09:27 PM
Damn the Gays and their gender bending agenda!!!
2005-01-22 08:10:21 PM
Thanks Deep Hurting!!! I thought I was the only Oz fan here.

/Now go put on that frilly emerald dress I like
//And don't forget that pretty Nome King belt
2005-01-22 08:15:26 PM
In 6th grade (back when 6th grade was in Elementary school), a boy took a DUMP on the blacktop after the teacher wouldn't let him go inside to go to the bathroom.

For the rest of the year, he could pretty much do what he wanted to do after that. Appparently his Mom, the teacher and the principal had 'a talk'....
2005-01-22 08:19:01 PM
commonwhiteguy --

So you were how old when you started boffing your (former) art teacher? And how old was she? [Did you get an A in her class?]

That's pretty cool. Is she still an art teacher at the high school? Does the school know you two are 'together'?
2005-01-22 08:21:05 PM
I think the best part is the school wanting to claim soverign immunity. And you thought only diplomats got to get away with that......

//oh look; slashes!
2005-01-22 08:23:00 PM
If it happened, and I seriously doubt it did, the teacher needs to just be fired. There are very few times when it's obvious what you should do when bringing up children, but it's pretty clear that things like this are prime examples of what you shouldn't do.
2005-01-22 08:24:36 PM
Gotta say that it is weird, wrong, and inappropriate, but I also have to agree with those raising the point that we react so much more harshly in the "feminization" of a male than at the "masculinization" of a female. It's as if we assume women are automatically less valuable, and so calling a man "woman" is an insult, but not vice versa. If a girl had a mustache painted on her, it would not get nearly the response.

/Yes, I'm male and hetero.
2005-01-22 08:26:04 PM

When I first saw that picture I thought it was the singer from The Darkness...
2005-01-22 08:31:51 PM
I once shiat my pants in primary school. Looking back, I probably should have been more ashamed.

I consider it unlikely that these two events are related.
2005-01-22 08:58:20 PM
The plea sights two Virginia Supreme Court cases which indicate governmental employees in Virginia are entitled to sovereign immunity in matters of simple negligence.

That's from another article someone linked to. Here's the link again: Student sues school principal.

Typos are one thing (still not acceptable in news media, in my opinion), but mixing up the proper usage of "sights" and "cites" is laughable, at best.

/hates bad grammar
//also proofreads everything he types three times

Here's another story about it.

Still with little info, but the lead is much better.

(story is from my hometown. I'm bummed I never got to dress up like a woman. Or touch someone dressed up like a woman. Or touch a real woman.)
2005-01-22 09:18:37 PM
Deep Hurting, you have earned my eternal respect for that reference.

/read all 14 of the L. Frank Baum Oz books as a child.
2005-01-22 09:25:14 PM
I remember in my 4th or 5th grade year I was in some sort of after school program and we ran out of girls to do a lip-stick on a *clean* roll of toliet paper challenge/game and a boy was picked to compete against a girl. He did not seem to mind it.

/and by after school program, I mean at the crossing guard's basement in Toledo.
2005-01-22 09:36:03 PM
Crawdaddy The Farker you might enjoy edwin newnman. this is one of several books he wrote.

as sad as it is that journalism has dumbed down but does that problem exist in other fields? do research chemists struggle along with nothing better than high chemistry?
2005-01-22 09:48:26 PM
If I were the kid, I'd come in the next day and shoot everyone.

As long as you get one heterosexual guy on the jury, you'll get off scot free.
2005-01-22 09:49:57 PM
I just ordered it along with some textbooks for the semester. At $.40 + shipping, how could I pass it up? If nothing else, it'll be another book and my bookshelf, which obviously indicates my intelligence ;P
2005-01-22 09:58:07 PM
Could someone explain this line fom the article:

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the minor by Ryan Thornberry, identified as his next friend.

His "Next friend ..." WTF?

It's a legal term:

next friend
n. a person (often a relative) who voluntarily helps a minor or incompetent in legal matters, particularly by filing a lawsuit. However, this informal practice has been supplanted in almost all states by petitions for appointment of a guardian ad litem at the time the lawsuit is filed.
2005-01-22 09:59:58 PM
yeah, I don't see the big deal... when I was in school we'd use various excuses to crossdress, it doesn't make anyone psychotic. these journalists need to get a life (I don't know what's with the "forces" part though, sounds made up)
2005-01-22 10:13:46 PM
Me, I'm betting the kid's a little tee-vee, and his fundie parents caught him, so he blamed the school to avoid getting the belt.
2005-01-22 10:15:27 PM
[image from too old to be available]

I say, this is just an allegation going to court ... perhaps the boy is just making excuses for his own ideas, hmm?
2005-01-22 10:26:40 PM

that's enough to give a guy nightmares

/how the fark do I boldify?
2005-01-22 10:27:21 PM
I heard that this is what all students must do when they watch the "pro-gay" Spongebob Squarepants "tolerance" video. It's all a part of the liberal plot to infiltrate our schools and brainwash our youth!
