Well deserved, too.

Yes, fight the "hippies" and not the war you blindly agree with.

good use of the amusing tag

Love it. Some protesters are quite violent: see WTO riots.

2005-01-21 06:53:29 PM
The group "infiltrated" an anti-Bush rally with signs such as "Say no to war unless a Democrat is president..."

There were protests when Clinton went into Iraq too.

Protest Warriors Vs. Anarchists....

Hmmmm, it's kinda like Paris Hilton Vs. Jessica Simpson - it's hard to tell which one is more vacuous, ignorant
& dim.

2005-01-21 06:55:56 PM
Personally, I think protesting is just kinda dumb. But the only thing stupider is protesting the protestors. Just what are these "Protest Warriors" supposed to be proving? Aside from being unable to accept that someone might disagree with them.

2005-01-21 07:52:28 PM
My theory is they are trying to join the elite club by taking their punches.

But yeah,my mental image of the "Protest Warriors" is a fusion of "fat dancing kid", the kid riding the purple dinosaur and the guy holding the "morans" sign.

Somebody please put up these cliche fark photo classics.....

It's funny because new school anarchists are essentially socialists who don't agree with the centralization of the current socialist movement (a'la the WWP shell A.N.S.W.E.R.) They combine political activism and supressed bourgeoise angst to become really just a bunch of pussies that are capable of little more than smashing a Starbucks window because AdBusters said they're bad.

I knew plenty of 'em that got arrested at the SF protests when the war first started.

Well, at least they're passionate and help support the black hoodie/safety pin/'Misfit' silkscreening industries.

2005-01-22 12:46:18 AM
I wish that would've happened when G8 came through last summer. That would've been awesome.

All I got were a handfull of hippy protestors.

Stupid Glynn County, it's like a black hole, a black hole of suck.

Anyone interfering with the right to free speech, deserves a good beat down, especially when that group is fighting principally for foreign interests.

I had to wonder what or who was behind these assholes' motives, so I did me some Googl'in.

At 1st, I GISed for co-founder Kfir Alfia. The first hit was Rush Limbaugh's web page. He was wearing a shirt with the Israeli flag on it.

I did a regular search for co-founder Gil Kobrin, and his bio turned up.

"Bio
I am a high-school activist. I fight for freedom and democracy. I fight for Israel, and the peoples of oppressed countries in the Middle East - Iran, Sudan, etc. Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

So I dunno, I have to wonder...

As far as anti-war protesters and hippies go, I wouldn't say that they're all the non-violent type. I doubt you'll find a hippie that would disagree with the American Revolution, but hey, you never know.

I think the last real hippies packed it in when "Rolling Stone" began to use staples. They cut their hair, and went back to school in anticipation of inheriting Mom and Dad's estate.

When I think of serious anti-war protesters and hippies though, I think more in terms of The Weathermen, the Black Panthers (very anti-Vietnam) and people like Abbie Hoffman, and The Chicago Seven.
I don't tend to think of the unwashed, unfocused, tie dye wearing douche bags who were trying to see how much acid they could eat before they "made the big scene", down in front of the White House.

Those idiots were more protesting against their parents than anything else.

I never much cared for Abbie Hoffman, but he did have a few good quotes.

Quotations:

The first duty of a revolutionary is to get away with it.

Avoid all needle drugs, the only dope worth being shot is Nixon.

Sacred cows make the tastiest hamburger.

Once you get the right image the details aren't that important.

A modern revolutionary group heads for the television station. "

My favorite "hippie" quote though, comes from Frank Zappa.

"The meek shall inherit NOTHING"

Another one of his quotes is "flower power sucks", and at the time when those statements were made, he was stereotypically considered one of the biggest hippies ever.
I can't believe that in this day and age, people are still judged by things like their clothing, or length of their hair.

I hope that at least some of the people that visit Fark, are more intelligent than that.

/end of rant, wears short hair, doesn't lean one way or the other politically, takes each situation for what it is.

2005-01-22 04:52:42 AM
Yeah, when I think of serious protesters, I think of people like the Weathermen, or SDS, and so forth. The stoned-out peace on earth hippy is a dying breed, and you won't see too many of them at inaugeration protests.

2005-01-22 04:54:57 AM
wasn't noxin assassinated? whoops! i meant `burninated`.

Great post. I watched a documentary on the Weathermen and they were some hardcore muthafarkers. Gotta respect people who follow through on thier cause unlike the flower power hippies, who are now wearing suits and ties.

consdubya: But yeah,my mental image of the "Protest Warriors" is a fusion of "fat dancing kid", the kid riding the purple dinosaur and the guy holding the "morans" sign.

My own mental image of the "Protest Warriors" is a bunch of 16-20 yr-olds, wearing bandanas & jean vests, led by a guy named Gil. After being wrongfully accused of killing a rival protest leader (named Cyrus), Swan, Ajax, Cleon, Snow, Cochise, Cowboy, & Rembrandt have to journey from one end of the DC parade to their turf on the other end, while defending their values against rival protesters to funky 70's jams.

The radio deejay is a smooth operator. He dedicates many tunes to the Protest Warriors and their plight.

...Now I picture George Bush is up on a podium, shouting,
"Can you DIG IT!"

2005-01-22 05:10:13 AM
Why don't they just start their own protest, instead of trying to wreck others'?

Protest Warriors!!! Come out and Plaaaay!!!!

Better article :

Hundreds of people gathered at both ends of Meridian Hill Park in Northwest Washington for a peace rally sponsored by the D.C Antiwar Network.

But there were interlopers: Thirteen members of ProtestWarror, supporting the Bush administration and its policies in Iraq. When the Bush supporters arrived, about 20 black-clad, self-described anarchists emerged from the crowd, shouting profanity and epithets and demanding that they leave the peace rally.

When the Bush supporters refused to leave, the anarchists tore the signs out of the Bush supporters' hands and stomped on them. When ProtestWarrior leader Gil Kobrin objected, several male anarchists knocked him to the ground, kicking him in the back and punching him. Other anarchists punched and shoved Kobrin's 12 colleagues.

After D.C. Antiwar Network members broke up the fight, the Bush supporters heeded their order to leave the park. Kobrin then called D.C. police, who are now guarding them at the entrance of the park as they hold up their pro-war signs. "We're going to hang tight," Kobrin said. "We're expressing our freedom of speech just as they are expressing theirs." --Robert MacMillan

Bunch of sissy chickenhawks. If they really were so pro-war, they'd sign up and go fight, but being a hypocrite is par for the course for the neo-con nob polishers. Keep cheering for Bush, you cheer you own destruction.

So, The Ultimate Warrior was unavailable for comment, I see.

BillCosby: Thanks for the alternate article. I'm sure that the actual sequence of events was somewhere right in between the two stories. Not that the stories are really conflicting, but one certainly makes it out to entirely be the fault of the anti-war protesters, and the other says the blame lays on the shoulders of the Protest Warriors!

For some reason, I felt the need to include an exclamation point when I wrote that. It's just got that ring, y'know?

These are the Armies of The Night. They are 100,000 strong. They outnumber cops five to one. They could rule DC. Tonight they're all out for the Protest Warriors!

Wait a little, they will pop up in this thread soon.

Now back to The Warriors circle jerk, god I love that movie.

You are proof of that my friend. Whatever our viewpoints, you are a bastion of thoughtful discourse...

But...How did Abbie Hoffman die? ;)

/Yes I know you said you did not care for him
//can't believe I used the word "bastion" at 2:30am after drinking...

'Protest Warriors', 'Spiritual Warriors', every kind of warrior except ACTUAL WARRIORS. Pshaw! Tedious man, real tedious. Not that I've ever fought and killed anyone mind you, but hey - I'm not the one swaggering around bragging like an abject asshole either...

Not to encourage a random threadjack, but he said it was an unnecessary war for the British. They should have non-violently handed over power as they later did with Canada, Austraila and India and what not.

Did anyone read the 'Comments' section of that site? Here's a golden nugget from one of the protestors:

If you want to stand across the street and counter protest that's one thing, if you want to invade my group and make a distracting ruckus I think even Gandhi would kick your ass.

Made me grin over my breakfast...

No siree, I brag with full disclosure of my smarminess and sincere disregard for anything you might think or feel. If only 'the right' would look deep inside and come to grips with their complete lack of tolerance for anything imagined since the Magna Carta (another bad idea in hind sight).

I'd at least have an ounce of respect for Karl Rove if he'd come out and say openly just what he really thinks of those supporting his agenda.

"If you act like a dumbshiat, they'll treat you like an equal." - J.R. 'Bob' Dobbs

"You know how dumb the average person is? By definition half of them are dumber than that!" - Some rogue subgenii

Thanks for the link. I just finished a 14 hour work day though, and I'll have to really check it out later. Actually, there are a few things about the revolution that don't make sense to me either.

Motorcycleboy
Thank You.

I guess Hoffman was bipolar, and killed himself in, I think 1989.

I shall always respect Pete Townshend however, for slamming Hoffman in the head with his guitar at Woodstock, when Hoffman tried to take the stage during The Who's set, and tried to get the crowd to riot.

True I suppose, but considering my Yeti ancestors created merehumes as slave labor the fact that you think I'd even aspire to 'humanity' is the funniest thing I've heard ALL MY LIFE.

Just keep patting yourself on the back with one hand while shoving that opposable thumb up your nose with the other and eventually you might HIT PAY DIRT.

You have to ask yourself, "Why did I kill that person and what makes me so different than your run-of-the-mill psychopath or serial murderer?"

Well, having a society blow a bunch of smoke up your ass telling you you're doing it all in the name of lofty, high-minded concepts and illusory objectives like 'Freedom' and 'Liberty' doesn't hurt... so keep up the good work soldier!

The more America sees these pathetic reprobates protesting, the more blue states are going to turn into red states.

A hippie-crit.

Im off to find some Ms. Elizabeth pics and send her off the only way I know how.

I still think it's funny that a whopping 13 warriors/freepers whatever showed up. It's like when the uncool kid in highschool throws a party. It's even funnier that they decided to go ahead with things anyway. Just when you think it can't get any funnier, they get their asses handed to them by "hippies". Now they are whining after being turned into girls. Hehehe. Let us do everything we can to encourage them to be this entertaining in the future. Good job guys!

2005-01-22 05:51:25 AM
Hilarious. These sorts of things happen to people with opinions. Lesson: until there is some real oppression going on, get a job -- and always side with labor when dealing with a mob.
